#142932 Hedgehogs and Gnomes

Posted by BobTokyo on 17 August 2004 - 03:59 PM in Hubelpot

Besides, it kinda breaks the fourth wall, right?

No, it doesn't. A gnome wearing latex is silly, and it's strange. It might threaten suspension of disbelief (the ability of the audience to make themselves believe in what they see). It does not speak directly to the audience, and thus does not break the fourth wall.

It is however an idea so completely silly that I have no wish to work on it right now. :)

The Equal Rights for Gnomes thing has a good chance of making it into the mod at some point.

Incidently, I love the Athkathla Rights For Gnomes Association idea. :D

I wonder if Sol Ek Sa could come up with some good portraits of latex clad gnomes?

#142879 Latex Gnome NPC and the Hedgehog Familliar

2) I'm not a pervert.

So you won't be downloading the Latex Gnome NPC or the Hedgehog Familliar then?

;)

Should I take the fact that I was involved in the making of both as a bad sign?

You still need to get some banters done for the Hedgehog mod.

Aerie: <Charname>! You can't expect me to try to heal that!

Hubelpot: Ah warned ye! Wha didnae ye listen?!

Not being able to let things be bodes well for the future of your mod. :)

dont worry genunine work is more important than a subtle joke :D

That joke was subtle? ;)

Shadowhawke: Both pieces were well done. I'm a bit tired, so I may have missed something; Were you following a particular form, or were these written as blank verse?

#142655 Can the faithless be resurected in the Realms?

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 03:27 PM in Delusions of the Mind

Thanks Bri. I may use "we couldn't bring her back". Still, from a story point of view I think the idea that she died faithless and heartbroken (and therefore could not return) has more impact.

#142582 NPC mod: Human female priest

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 10:59 AM in IE Mod Ideas

Lliira sounds like a good choice. You can probably get some conflict between her very consevative Wakeenar parents and her own devotion to the Lady of Joy.

Looks like an interesting NPC. :)

#142574 NPC mod: Human female priest

For me at least, understanding the ethos they follow is a big part of understanding a Priest, Paladin or Druid. Waukeen (missing at the time of BG1&2) is the patron of Trademeet. She sees fair and honest trade as the path to prosperity for all, and feels that such trade should benefit all involved. A priestess of Waukeen might give coin to a beggar, but would either do so while suggesting that the beggar "pass it on" when he could, or would "hire" the beggar for some minor task in exchange for the coin. Some priests of Wakeen might be greedy or materialistic, but at there best they seek prosperity and comfort for all.

You can find one good list of the 2nd Ed gods of the realms HERE.

#142564 Can the faithless be resurected in the Realms?

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 10:22 AM in Delusions of the Mind

Just be careful where you apply it.  I don't have books handy, but sometimes there are differences in content in 2nd Edition and 3rd Edition.

There's a point in a dialog I'm working on involving a girl who commited suicide. Her familly is not poor. The tragedy is lessened if they could just go to the Temple district and have her brought back. So, as long as it does not conflict with Forgotten Realms lore as established in the BG1&2 games or official FR lore, in this case I'd say that she died without faith, and therefore is beyond any known form of Resurection available in Athkathla.

If FR lore does allow even the faithless to be easilly brought back, I'll have to find some other way to keep her "out of reach." Maybe because she doesn't want to return or something, but that may reduce the emotional value of the story.

#142527 Can the faithless be resurected in the Realms?

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 09:01 AM in Delusions of the Mind

According to the 3rd edition FR campgin setting sourcebook, in which Kelemvor is the god of the dead, the wall is stll up. If you die, and have no faith, or if you betrayed your faith, then you have about a day to be ressurected or raised normally. After that, you have been brought to the City of the Dead, and that is bad. You need a wish or miracle spell to bring you back then.

Thanks, this is the info I was looking for.

Thanks as well to all who replied.

#142464 Aerie Cleric-Sorcerer Alpha Available

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 05:56 AM in SMM / RM

Minor Bug Warning:

1) The first Alpha included a bug where Aerie has too many 9th level spells. It'll be fixed today.

2) SConrad may have fixed the first dialog problem. It will be tested today, and included if it works.

#142451 fuxored books?!

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 05:27 AM in SMM / RM

1) I went with all custom spells built using NI and/or IEEP. Seemed like the best way to avoid problems.

2) The Sorcs may end up knowing up to 14 spells per level, not from spell picks but from the automatically added Cleric spells. This has not caused any problems with sequencers in my beta tests; I'm not sure if this is because the spells are added diferently, or if I just haven't noticed. Please feel free to test it and report back. :)

#142440 More portrait suggestions wanted

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 05:08 AM in Hubelpot

The Hubelpot Mod could really use small face-only portraits for use when speaking with the following characters:

1) Blake, a working class Welsh Gnome.

2) Sweet Fanny Adams, a Woman of Negotiable Affection who is a bit more than she seems.

3) Hamlish Thistledown, a teen human apprentice baker, Hubelpot's son.

4) Morag Thistledown, Hubelpot's wife, a 37 year old woman who was quite good looking in a farmer's daughter kind of way around 15 years and sixty pounds ago.

Any help appreciated.

#142437 Can the faithless be resurected in the Realms?

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 04:58 AM in Delusions of the Mind

In the forgotten Realms, can you cast Raise Dead or Resurection successfully on a person who died without having faith in any patron god?

What can stop Resurection?

#142403 Aerie Cleric-Sorcerer Alpha Available

Posted by BobTokyo on 16 August 2004 - 03:26 AM in SMM / RM

Aerie Cleric Sorcerer Alpha Micro Mod

Get It HERE

Install as per any other IAP mod. To un-install, just delete the AERIE.CRE files in your overide folder.

1) ONLY use with the Semi-Multi-Mod installed. Install the Semi-Multi Mod first.

2) Will replace all versions of Aerie with a Cleric-Sorcerer, as long as you have not yet added Aerie to your party.

3) MUST NOT HAVE COMPLETED CIRCUS QUEST before using this mod if you intend to do Aerie Romance. Should not interfere with any other Aerie related quests or banters even if installed after circus quest is completed.

4) This version of Aerie has even worse HP; you must buff her and/or use lots of potions of fortitude if you expect her to take much punishment. She can only use Mage gear. On the other hand, she is a very serious one stop spell caster.

5) When she joins, she is in Half-elf form and her joining dialog assumes that the circus quest has not been completed and that you asked her to leave. Just let her join again. This will not interfere with the romance, or with any other banters. I'll try to fix her "Help, I'm an Ogre" first quest when I get some time.

6) Post any feedback to: http://www.shsforums...p?showforum=158

If there is enough interest, I might get around to a beta at some point. :)

Hope you enjoy the mod.

#142336 Strength and other stat checks

Posted by BobTokyo on 15 August 2004 - 06:12 PM in Delusions of the Mind

I am shooting for an AD&D one. I don't trust BG2 as an AD&D source. You all know those notorious reasons. ;)

-Galactygon

Well, stat checks were never 100% official in 2nd ed as far as I remember, but I'm not an expert anymore. Been a long time.

I'd transfer it over as a roll of stat or less on a D20 in 2nd ed, or a save vs. breath for STR and Dex, vs. Spell for will.

#142311 Strength and other stat checks

Posted by BobTokyo on 15 August 2004 - 02:56 PM in Delusions of the Mind

When a spell indicates the caster needs to make a strength check or fall prone, what does it really represent? I need a bit more insight on this.

-Galactygon

In BG2, you could either do it as a save versus Breath Weapon, or some kind of custom roll of STR or less on 1d20

#142058 Beta 2 Week Begins

Posted by BobTokyo on 14 August 2004 - 12:28 PM in Hubelpot

has anyone worked on the hedghog familiar °_°

A great idea.

No.

No?  <_<

:P

Do you want to write the inevitable "trying to bugger the hedgehog" banter and NPC reactions?

#142057 Mod Idea!

Posted by BobTokyo on 14 August 2004 - 12:25 PM in IE Mod Ideas

Intresting idea, Bob. A few things, though:

I posted the book as "Tome of Jansen" at TeamBG at one point. Almost all of the management issues can be taken care of with dialogs, but it would be a hell of a major project. What concerns me is the banters and interjections; it should be possible to have them trigger with the semi-NPC in the party, but I'm not sure how.

Getting them to equip mod added items or scribe mod added scrolls would probably be impossible without adding them into the "real" party.

Or an optional component, but probably no. ;)

#142054 Beta 2 Week Begins

Posted by BobTokyo on 14 August 2004 - 12:18 PM in Hubelpot

Cool! I shall set to't. I have now got the previous version of Yikari fully traified and working! Now all I have to do is finalise the banter before coding it.

I do need that Mazzy ( :P ), but the Ano is optional, since I wrote some myself. I shall certainly write a ToB banter for Hub soon :). Did you get the Minsc banter I PMd you?

Yes I did. It was very good, and it is in. :)
