Now considering I went out and found/downloaded the files.  I cannot find any reference on where I need to put the files in order to use the "provide" function it is talking about.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Some just have to be downloaded manually because the script can't download from dropbox, zippyshare, etc. I think it would make sense for SHS or Gibberlings 3 to rehost some of those.

When you first fired up BWS and pointed it to your BG and BG2 game directories, you also point it to a Big World Downloads folder. By default, it is a sub-folder right under where BWS runs. Just put the manually downloaded files there.

It is installable on vanilla BGII ToB not EE.

I'd love to see this updated to work on EE, and even better, expanded some day.

#599145 General discussion

Posted by enderandrew on 28 December 2017 - 08:40 PM in Almateria's Restoration Project

Is there going to be a bugfix for "Restored final slayer dream" component? That sounds like a rather cool thing to include. I'd be willing to wait for a patch before I start my install and play-through, but if Almateria doesn't currently have a working computer I'm not sure if she can patch it, or if anyone else can. I may just install this without options 11 and 12 for "Restored final slayer dream" and "Alternate Slayer Change".

I've never beaten BG2 and I'm very interested in restored content and seeing everything that was planned.

#600219 Bug reporting practices discussion

Posted by enderandrew on 13 February 2018 - 09:43 AM in IE Modding Discussion

Everyone here has a shared love of Infinity Engine games and a desire to see them expanded with mods.

People actively maintaining their mods want to be kept in the loop if there are bug reports and fixes. That seems reasonable.

Not everyone has an email address listed in the author field. It is hard to assume or know something is still being actively maintained if there is no contact information listed there.

A reasonable compromise seems to be that any active modder who wants to be notified should be providing accurate contact information, and if that information exists, people should be using it to share bug reports or fixes they have. That really doesn't seem very difficult. Is there anyone who wouldn't agree to that?

#601591 Breagar NPC mod from Ascalon

Posted by enderandrew on 07 April 2018 - 07:30 PM in IE Modding Discussion

I installed this along with most every mod available in BWS all at once. I saw Breagar in Candledeep who gave me a brief fetch quest. His dialogue is in English in my English install, but the quest and journal entry was in German.

And now a day later it needs less than $5,000. So it made over $3,500 in the past day. It will probably make its funding goal in the next two days, with 19 days remaining to raise funds for stretch goals.

#602361 Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness : IE inspired Game

Don't think they will gather needed sum. It's only 23 days, and 11 000 $ are required.
It will be great if game is out instead of non-completing aim.

A day later, they only need $8,500 which suggests they made $2,500 in the past day alone.

It is 86% funded with 22 days to get the remaining 14%.

I've seen games get 30-40% of their funding total in the final 48 hours because of the Kickstarter "remind me" feature that emails you when the project is in the final 48 hours.

#600335 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by enderandrew on 17 February 2018 - 08:42 AM in Mega Mod Help

Any tips on avoiding another memory error? Do I need to avoid doing other stuff or something?
Your computer is not running out of memory. Weidu is specifically. It has file limits of how many files it can open, and as a 32-bit process it is limited to 2 GB of memory. It often errors on out on SCS.

Your options are to not include SCS, only include a few components of SCS, or attempt some sort of work around.

The Weidu devs don't seem to have any interest in trying to make a 64-bit version of Weidu to fix this, nor to keep it 32-bit but patch it to allow it to use 4 GB of RAM. The SCS modders could in theory try to rewrite their mod to be more efficient.

When I try my next install, I'm going to let BWS download Weidu and all the mods, but then stop it. Then I'm going to apply the 4 GB patch to Weidu. http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

BWS will probably say Weidu doesn't match the checksum it is expecting, I'll tell it to ignore it and then let it proceed with the patched Weidu and see what happens.

ok, and when I install SCS manually when BWS pause before installation, i have to check all components and choose all components manually, right?

You need not do everything in one go. You can call the setup-SCS.exe multiple times and (s)kip the components you already installed and select to (i)nstall stuff you want at your choice. You can exit and restart this many times when ever a single component has finished. Avoids out of memory.

If this is the worst offender for out of memory errors, it would be nice if the mod was updated with a Weidu executable that was patched to allow the use of more than 2 GB of memory, or if the mod isn't going to be updated, if the BiG World Fixpack included said patch. It sounds like this is an edge case and all, but is there maybe incentive to start compiling a 64-bit version of Weidu to avoid this?

You can use change-log to see which mods add to Imoen2J.dlg. It will be many, but you will be able to see which one does the *bad changes*.

Am I supposed to just run "weidu --change-log imoen2j.dlg" or something else? Here is the output from that.

https://pastebin.com/kS3qTR0N

If I search across all my logs, here are all the references to imoen2j.dlg

https://pastebin.com/dJrX4EsP

I'm going to compare all the mods that Weidu said should have impacted imoen2j.dlg versus what I'm seeing in the logs.

Edit:

These 4 logs mention imoen2j.dlg even though Weidu change-log doesn't list them as affecting imoen2j.dlg

SETUP-A7-CHAOSSORCERER.DEBUG
SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.DEBUG
SETUP-EDWINROMANCE.DEBUG
SETUP-Keto.debug

But I don't think that is the issue. When this mod is done running, I have 2929 states in the file.

SETUP-SANDRAHNPC.DEBUG 38046 [IMOEN2J.DLG] saved 2929 states, 5344 trans, 121 strig, 1409 ttrig, 502 actions

But EET-End picks up the file and then it grows to nearly 7000 states.

SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 1501 Preparing IMOEN2J.dlg source file (2929 states starting from 0)
SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 1517 [IMOEN2J.DLG] saved 2929 states, 5344 trans, 121 strig, 1409 ttrig, 502 actions
SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 1523 Appending IMOENJ.dlg to IMOEN2J.dlg (101 appended states starting from 2929)
SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 1531 [IMOEN2J.DLG] saved 3030 states, 5484 trans, 133 strig, 1414 ttrig, 524 actions
SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 1720 Appending IMOEN25J.dlg to IMOEN2J.dlg (3140 appended states starting from 3030)
SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 1748 [IMOEN2J.DLG] saved 6170 states, 12640 trans, 307 strig, 3972 ttrig, 1264 actions
SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 3755 Appending IMOEN2_.dlg to IMOEN2J.dlg (1534 appended states starting from 6170)
SETUP-EET_END.DEBUG 3767 [IMOEN2J.DLG] saved 7704 states, 20430 trans, 381 strig, 9598 ttrig, 2791 actions

#599202 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by enderandrew on 30 December 2017 - 10:30 AM in Mega Mod Help

Also, you should absolutely be keeping and restoring backups of BG/BG2 each time you attempt an install - the BWP supports this and will ask you in two places to restore each one.

Every time I run BWS, I'm restoring a fresh copy of the game unaltered from my Steam folder. I don't use BWS to make an additional backup because that is redundant.

I'll take a look at your tweaked Maximum set-up compared to what I was running before to see what is different. That might help narrow down if there is a problem mod.

Edit: Even with a non-tweaked "Recommended" pre-set, which is very few mods, it crashes at the very same point. The only thing I can think of at this point is that I'm in the Windows 10 Insider Program, so I get early builds of the next Windows 10 updates and maybe something is slightly different with my computer that the BWS scripts just don't like. I might try running BWS on my work laptop to test there as well.

#599216 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by enderandrew on 30 December 2017 - 01:25 PM in Mega Mod Help

I've been saving the separate download folder. And it seems I'm officially an idiot and the problem is on my end.

The guide says to load the game, make a character and save. I assumed this was just to verify your base game is working. I did that with BG1:EE, but I also assume the game just works with a fresh Steam install. For some reason, I had never done the same with BG2:EE as well. I made a character in BG2:EE, created a save there as well and now the install is progressing. It hasn't finished, but it didn't stop at the previous part either. I don't know why that stopped BWS from touching my BG2:EE folder, but I was just being an idiot.

#599227 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Mod: Might and Guile

Component: Add Multiclass Kits
Component: The Feat System (for Warriors and Rogues, requires EE 2.0+, includes Revised Stalker and Shadowdancer, disables Scout kit)

Curious why. Using both of those myself, plenty of good fun, no errors during install for me. Found something that just doesn't work with them, or just not your Thing?

Just that they failed in my install, I'm not sure why, and then it caused errors in Sandrah. If I knew better why they broke and could fix them easily I might, but I'm not going to worry about them too much at the moment. I do enjoy tactical combat, but I mainly want to get through the bevy of quests and content.

#601501 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by enderandrew on 04 April 2018 - 07:27 AM in Mega Mod Help

Also before I forget, IsraNPC got an update and BWS has an issue with archive extraction.
I noticed the same thing yesterday. I manually extracted it and then a crossmod component with IsraNPC and another failed. I just stopped the install, wiped and intend to try another install without IsraNPC in it.

It looks like -Trevalin- ran into the same issues.
I'm a long-time BG player getting drawn back in for yet another playthrough, and I'm trying to use BWS for the first time to help get me through the complicated mod install process. I've run into several errors, including issues with SCS installing (skipped installs with some regret), crossmod banters between Gavin/Isra and Valerie/Isra (skipped installs since I don't plan on using those npc's this time) and a parsing error with Garrick: Tales of a Troubadour (skipped install since he won't be in my party long this time through).

I am now stuck on this parsing error, and finally decided to ask for help:

ERROR: No translation provided for @438
ERROR: parsing [tb#_compile_eval_buffer/bg1re/necromancer/Dialogues/necromancer.d]: Not_found
ERROR: compiling [bg1re/necromancer/Dialogues/necromancer.d]!
ERROR: Not_found
Necromancer's Trouble, by jastey (WARNING - refer to the readme!) (Baldur's Gate Romantic Encounters) was not installed due to errors.

Should I be getting this many issues with popular mods? Am I better served going back to just trying to manually install mods the way that I used to? Any idea what might be causing this particular error?

Thanks for any assistance. I took today off to play some BG, and I'm hoping to get this sorted. :)
With SCS were you getting out of memory errors?

The Isra errors seem to because of an update that was just pushed to the Isra NPC mod.

#600732 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by enderandrew on 02 March 2018 - 11:07 AM in Mega Mod Help

So I just tried an install of most everything available in BWS currently on the 2.5 beta. The following four failed:

Mod: Might and Guile
Component: Add Multiclass Kits
Component: The Feat System (for Warriors and Rogues, requires EE 2.0+, includes Revised Stalker and Shadowdancer, disables Scout kit)

Mod: Item Randomiser
Component: Prevent Watcher's Keep statues from disappearing (in case randomisation gave them something)

Mod: EET (Enhanced Edition Trilogy) Tweaks
Component: NPC voices

Mod: Sandrah Saga I - Sandrah Appears
Component: Sandrah EET additions

Of those, Might and Guile seems to conflct when installed with other mods adding kits. I will try to look through and see what the conflict is. The Item Randomizer component outright said some other mod apparently already provided that tweak. I'm not sure why NPC Voices failed in EET Tweaks and will have to look at the log file. The Sandrah failure I think I've seen before. If it thinks Might and Guile is installed, but it isn't really, that causes problems. I don't need Might and Guile. I'm just testing these literally for the sake of testing them. I'll try a new install in a bit.

#599134 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by enderandrew on 28 December 2017 - 11:27 AM in Mega Mod Help

I'm out of the loop. I haven't messed with a BGT/BWP install in years. I'd like to give it another go with BG:EE/SOD/BG2:EE. Is it possible to go BGT/BWP with the enhanced versions?

If so, what guide should I follow?

I'm interested in trying out most of the available mods to see everything the community has to offer, primarily focused on bugfixes and new content (quests, areas, dialogue).

Just restored from backup, re-ran and now there is a friendly continue button when I get to that step. In the screenshot above, it looks like the UI painted/scaled weird and you can't see where the button would be below that question mark.

#600218 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

I agree that creating temporary workarounds for Weidu bugs in the Fixpack doesn't seem like a great approach.

If someone wants to submit new fixes otherwise to the Fixpack but is purely intimidated by using Github, presumably they could update their proposed fixes elsewhere and ask someone else to kindly commit them.

As for the bickering in the other thread, it only has me shaking my head. Everyone here has a shared love of Infinity Engine games and a desire to see them expanded with mods.

People actively maintaining their mods want to be kept in the loop if there are bug reports and fixes. That seems reasonable.

#599167 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by enderandrew on 29 December 2017 - 09:29 AM in Mega Mod Help

Sorry that I've got so many questions. I just want to make sure I've got a good install before a lengthy play-through.

This URL appears to be broken:

Wild Mage Additions: The Mod itself (burner1024-bg2-wildmage-2.beta3-0-g7d3c290.zip)
http://lynxlynx.info...24/bg2-wildmage

But it looks like the mod can be found here:
https://github.com/B...et/bg2-wildmage

I downloaded the wildmage folder from GitHub, threw in a copy of Weidu named setup-wildmage.exe and them put those in the zip file name that BWS was expecting: burner1024-bg2-wildmage-2.beta3-0-g7d3c290.zip

I presume that is what I need to do.

I want to remove the EXP cap. I'm selecting this option in BWS but it is in red. Is there a better/prefered cap remover?

Tweaks Anthology - Remove Experience Cap

Lastly, unless I'm blind I'm not seeing Southern Edge in BWS though it appears to be EE/EET compatible. Is it safe to install this separately after BWS?

The app doesn't seem to scale well to being maximized. If I don't have the window maximized, it scales differently. I still keep reproducing the issue however that it will not proceed past asking me to make a save. It crashes in the same place every time.

Is it safe to try/test a new BWS/EET install yet? The last one I tried was hosed with Imoen's dialogue. I want to try again, but leaving out a mod or two until I can find the one borking my install with some sort of conflict.

Nope, it is still broken.

- NEJ will never be an EE mod per decision of its author and there is nothing to comment here anymore, the guy has made that clear once and for all.
It looks like Vlad says right here that anyone is free to convert NEJ to EE without his involvement but has his blessing.

Do not get disappointed.

I can't contribute in most ways. At some point I may take a look at the BWS code and see if I can contribute there, but at the very least I can make a request for people to move to Github or something like it. Maybe they'll say no. Maybe they'll say yes. It doesn't hurt to ask.
