Is there anyway to disable the automatic download (it's a huge waste of time when it's re-downloading Portraits when nothing has changed)

Not an answer per se, but have you tried to point SHS to the same download folder where you keep previously downloaded archives? SHS should skip all downloads that are consistent in name and size with files already present in the folder you pointed it to for downloads.

We are happy to announce that we do not only release Haer'Dalis Romance updade (v2.2), but we're also happy to welcome a brand new NPC IEP mod: Haer'Dalis Friendship!

Haer'Dalis Friendship, as other NPC IEP mods, adds many new lines to the existing companions. This time it's for the famous bard, wielder of Chaos and Entropy. There are a total of 20 new dialogues added by the mod, 15 in SoA and 5 in ToB. Some of these do have particular circumstances in which they occur. The mod was brought to you by Aeryn (writer), with some help from Rhaella (coding and release preparation) and Lava (coding).

If you are interested in more intimate relationship with the tiefling bard, try Haer'Dalis Romance. Version 2.2 includes: improved BG2EE and EET compatibility, the SoA romance track will now turn off properly if the romance is ended, ToB banters will no longer fire repeatedly. If you reinstall with (almost) any changes to mod and component selection or install order, then your old saves are useless. If you plan to install with no changes at all it will work, but what is the benefit? :)

Not to worry, this IS place for questions :)
All items in TDD are not droppable.
Like, ALL all items? Even mundane/quest/not-owerpowered? Then this should not be the doing of a balancer of any kind. Not sure what causes it though.

Do you know Interaction Expansion Project? It was created with one purpose - to give even more life to the existing NPCs. The project adds new friendships, interjections and banters to fill the game with new interesting dialogues. All were created with high quality in mind.

We are happy to announce that all the Interaction Expansion Project mods are now up to date. Here is the list of all changes:

#602424 Sarevok Romance updated to version 1.3

After a long while, Aeryn's Sarevok Romance is now officialy updated to 1.3.  The new version includes handle_charset function, Polish translation by Astharoshe (member of CoB's Stars of Mystra), EET for game check and WeiDU update.
 
About the mod: "Sarevok Anchev has been many things. Once a murderer, deceiver and despised enemy, he has become an unlikely ally to a PC facing an uncertain future. Though many facts about both his past and his former plans are common knowledge, little can be determined about his current motivations now that life has been returned to him. Has death shaken his perceptions, or merely hardened his resolve to ruthlessly seize whatever power he can take for himself? Is it possible for mortal foes to becoming something more than reluctant allies?"

Enough is enough.

temnix has been banned for repeatedly breaking the rules by trolling, personal attacks and being rude to other forum members. He has been repeatedly warned about unacceptability of such behaviour, and after he received a final warning that his next personal attack against other forum member will result in his ban he chose to continue his attacks by posting under alt, first as a guest, and then as a registered account. Of course, the alt is banned as well.
 
As a tribute to the old days where such action has any meaning, I am also banning the IP address that temnix used to post from under as temnix, as -me- guest and as me. registered account.

My my, and here I was thinking only Roxanne has the habit of talking with her alts. Or IS it Roxanne as well?
 

Now I will only say two things: that, if this trend continues, you can all expect dozens of "my" accounts, and probably everyone else's, posting in all sorts of topics, and that if Creepin was wrong about me, he might very well have been wrong about Roxanne.

It's fascinating to watch people show their true colours: one crook "bargains" to deprive us of her "invaluable" bugfixes if she won't be allowed to keep lying to us, and another threating to overrun the forum with spam if he will receive due repercussion for his cheating, useless, swinish actions. Meh.

If you would care to read OP carefully you would have noticed I wouldn't throw accusation like that without having a rock-solid proof.

Thank you, I somehow overlooked the idea myself. I guess anyone having an opinion on the issue has plenty of time to voice it by now. So, much as I liked the final twist, thread is locked until any further development.

My two cents:
- I think dropped items marked as game critical doesn't vanish with time, but they can't be sold
- I also think there was the sole case of a free-lying item in vanilla games - that axe in IWD 1 somewhere in the snake caves, but even if that is true there's surely no macros in WeiDU to add free-lying item so you'll have to code it old-fashioned way, with, like, 30 lines of code
not that it is of great help but still.
 
Edit: hmm, wasn't there also Heartstone Gem lying on the floor in NeJ part 1? If so, its code should be helpful.

Thank you, this is an elegant idea but alas, not only I do lack #326, I'm also reluctant to touch main engine of basilisk gaze attack item: it is not a spell but embedded effects in vanilla, which at some point changes into .spl in Big World, so I will had to dynamically read and wrap said engine into my custom .spl - a feat I wouldn't dare even with the help of the community...

 

wait... ok it's 2AM so I might be wrong but...

 

subtledoctor, that is in fact brilliant! What if I insert, as a first effect, toned down by -2 version of the main gaze engine AND block original not toned down attack? That could actually work perfectly "on the old & busted engine" :P Now I wonder what will happen if I will give immunity to the gaze projectile from the middle of the stack of effects in this very same projectile :rolleyes:

As for workarounds, it would depend on why you cannot simply give the effect itself a save bonus/penalty.

I am making a shield which by design should give +2 Saving Throw against petrifying gaze of basilisks and medusas to its wielder. Sadly engine has no option to fine-tune saves: there's no modifiers to save vs. item or save vs. creature or save vs. spell, nothing, so I was unable to find a way to do so from shield's side.

 

The only thing I managed to come up with is to give all basilisk/medusa items which they use for ranged attack two additional effects, where first will make target immune to second, and second will always bestow +2 save vs. petrification upon target, and then give my shield immunity to the former of these two so only one using the shield will get that +2 save.

 

Oh, and it's for classic engine so no fancy opcodes for me :rolleyes:

Confirming that in regard of its influence on the next effect within the same item ability:

these works as intended
Opcode:33, target=2, parameter1=0, parameter2=1(Set), timing=0, duration=0
Opcode:33, target=2, parameter1=20, parameter2=1(Set), timing=0, duration=0
 
while these doesn't do a thing
Opcode:33, target=2, parameter1=10, parameter2=0(Increment), timing=0, duration=0
Opcode:33, target=2, parameter1=-10, parameter2=0(Increment), timing=0, duration=0
 
kjeron, you seem to have first hand knowledge on these matters, any idea why so? Some engine flaw? Any workaround?

 

Edit: interestingly,
Opcode:33, target=2, parameter1=10, parameter2=0(Increment), timing=0, duration=1
works, as in displayed on charsheet, but doesn't affect next effect within the same use of the same item ability

Well, you don't technically, but you subject the victim to another delayed effect. So you first cast the spell with the save throw penalty, preferebly without being able to resist it, and another effect that using the opcode #177 with delayed effect. The then reffered .eff file containing the damage and save etc.

Ok, I don't see yet how is that better than delaying damaging effect directly, but I'll check that out. Still, even within #177, where do I put delay amount?

I believe--and I'm sure I'll be corrected if this isn't accurate--that the engine rolls for saves on an item/spell once and at the time of the attack.
Thank you for an explanation! There goes down the drain my shield of +2 to save vs. petrifying gaze. And to think I've already made paperdoll and icon for it :(
Have you tried to delay the effect a second for the save throw to get reduced ? -got ninja'ed-

Edit: hmm, what field should I put delay amount to? "Special" (in terms of NI)? Or perhaps I should externalize it into Eff v.2 and use parameter 3?

I am trying to make weapon attack modify target's saving throw before applying core effect of that attack.

 

My testing rig is a dart doing 1 damage upon target failing save versus death. Target have save vs. death 10, so under normal circumstances dart hits 10 times out of 20 attacks. Then I am adding prior (slot 0) effect #33 adding 6 to target's save. If that would work in theory hit to fired ratio should fall down to about 4 per 20 attacks, but testing gives same 10 of 20, so my #33 obviously not working.

I have filed it with target 2 (preset target), value 6, modifier 0 (increment), timing 0 (instant/limited), dispel 3 (dispel/bypass resistance), duration 0 and probability 100. Which of these is wrong?

 

I am attaching the item in question just in case.

Or where one of her alts quotes another? It is almost like she holds SHS for her personal stage and all of us for grateful audience who come here only to admire her escapades, good thing we haven't been asked to pay for the tickets yet!

Not arguing with your personal experience I want to notice for the greater picture that I was able to finish the mod several times: apart for a nagging feeling there should been some other way to finish part 2 than by slaughtering all of duchess palace the mod was doable with the help of walkthrough.
