Writing should be fun. Don't worry so much about perfection/being the best. Focus on your own work and  just enjoy the ride that is life.

(*Begin Joke*)Remember only Swedes who haven't slept in 2 days and have consumed massive amounts of sugar are capable of sporadically writing masterpiece stories(*end of joke*)

Hmmm...bumping your own thread(just kidding).
Read your fanfic and I found it interesting(granted I am a sucker for the assasin/killer with heart).
Can't wait till the next chapter.

Hmmm...haven't we all heard this one before...."Duke Nukem is on the way..."

#366684 Do RPGs need numbers?

Posted by Maekir on 18 December 2007 - 11:57 AM in General Gameplay

Things always move forward or change so in that respect I think it is a given that RPGs are bound to change/evolve. Similarly, there are changes in RPGs that could be considered both good and bad. I would say I am hopeful that RPGs can continue to improve.
My area of concern is that many "new" RPGs seem rather lacking in story when compared to the gems of the past such as the baldur's gate series, fallout series, etc. Honestly many newer rgps feel rather dumbed down. If anything I miss the old story/character building rpgs that were meant for people of at least some intellect and level of maturity.
I don't think numerical elements are a necessity for an rpg, as long as their is some sort of feedback or feeling of progression the numbers themselves are necessary mostly for game calculations.

Still the adage of the "more things change the more they stay the same" feels rather applicable.

Thanks for posting this fanfic. It was fun to read. I like the unwilling heroine aspect of the story. It added a sometimes apparent lack of concern/fear/etc of the main character or hero in similar stories. Which, in turn made the characters seem more believable. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Hi PostSwe,

many thanks for the review :) You sure are a brave one to read all those monstrous 160p from the beginning to the end of chapter 21. I admire your tenacity!!!

I'll keep your encouragement in mind :) This week it's Irony of Fate's turn, but next week there should be a new chapter of Out of the Dark and the Mist for you ;)

I posted anonymously as PostSwe above and finally registered. As stated I had a really good time reading it and believe it or not I sat there and read it from start to finish(or at least to the latest chapter). So please keep up the good work lol.
