Posted by vilkacis on 19 March 2010 - 01:34 PM in Layers of Reality

Medigel plz?

#482393 Rupert the dye merchant - v3.0.0

Posted by vilkacis on 20 March 2010 - 04:29 AM in Miscellaneous Released Mods

Unfortunately, Rupert already carries every gradient present in the game (except for the multiple instances of "solid grey").

There should be several reddish hues present, though, as well as both the standard black that the game normally uses (#66, "faded black") and a solid black that doesn't show any highlights (#75, "pure black"). There's also two colours called "red tinted black", #00 and #29.

Pfft. With the Mass Effect fandom being what it is? That doesn't scare me.

Spoiler

Also it lacks a crazy guy yelling UFOPORNOOOO every three seconds.

(Besides, she looks like she knows what she's doing.)

#482401 what to do with imoen

Posted by vilkacis on 20 March 2010 - 05:39 AM in Baldur's Gate Series

I always kept her as a plain kitless thief->mage (I even did this in BG1, before I knew it would happen in BG2).

Bard would suit her, but if you're going to haul Garrick or Eldoth (or H'D later on) around with you, it may not be optimal to make her one as well. Will you have a proper thief? If not, keeping Imoen as a thief for most or all of BG1 may be the best choice, but if you have someone else around to handle locks and traps, you could dual her to mage at a lower level. I don't think any of these options is necessarily more out of character than any other, so just go with whatever will make most sense with the group you're planning to use.

If you're looking for a thief kit, swashbuckler probably fits (and people tell me it works nicely, mechanics-wise). There are some mod kits like "adventurer" that gives a boost to trap removal and a penalty to backstabbing that would work well, too.

I like how the reaper is looking at them. (And how it's grinning like an ass, but it may not have a choice in that matter.)

Surely this is the only music for that situation.

*cough*

You hippies...

*RENEGADE INTERRUPT PUNCH*

If that were the music to the scene, then THIS would be the picture to go with it:

There's the MAKO & the Hammerhead, shooting at eachother.

:new_bottom:

The Mako and Hammerhead would make love, not war.

That's about twice a day, now.

Ahahaha the "expressions" XDD

And here I had imagined that the Mako would top...

#483066 Firewalking fails

Posted by vilkacis on 28 March 2010 - 08:16 AM in Mass Effect Series

Sooo... I just came back from firewalking for ~45 minutes.

Combat-wise, it really is awful. I didn't die once, because while the tank *appears* to be made of tissue paper (it caught on fire after like two hits), there's no need to get close enough for anything to be able to hit you. Tank's range is greater than enemies' range, and they just sit there while you cram rockets up their synthetic asses. Now, I love sniper rifles as much as the next guy (if the next guy is wearing a shirt with I <3 SNIPING printed on it) but that's just silly. It's a *tank*. They're not going to have a problem seeing and aiming at it. It's kind of funny that ME1 had the opposite problem, where you could have an enemy look like a tiny dot through a sniper scope and completely invisible to the naked eye and they'd *still* be able to hit you from halfway across the bloody planet, but I think this is worse.

Recovering things was dumb. If you can't keep the tank steady while it scans the ground, *land*!

As a platformer, though, it was pretty entertaining. Not as entertaining as rocket-boosting off a mountain with the Mako and spinning in the air for 20 seconds, but fun. I liked the lava level.

In the end, it feels like an aside. The Mako was part of the game; you took it everywhere, and it felt natural to have it around during those long overworld trips. The Hammerhead is just a minigame. You find it, use it for a handful of mini-missions, and it will never be mentioned again. Granted, there's not a lot of space for a hovertank in most of ME2's other missions, but it still feels like wasted potential.

#483200 ME3 News

Posted by vilkacis on 29 March 2010 - 02:57 PM in Mass Effect Series

I never said it was right around the corner, I was simply remarking that it might come sooner than what Vicen expected (2012, 2013). But of course, you are right, there are sometimes delay. Besides, all of this is pure speculation at this point.

I never said you did. All I said was that "2011" is not necessarily as close as some people think it sounds.

Casey Hudson has stated that Mass Effect 3 will complete the story arc of Commander Shepard.

And thank ¤?§# for that. After those hints that ME3 wouldn't be the end of Mass Effect, I was starting to get these rather unpleasant visions of *another* never-ending series where the ending is just left hanging and eventually just never happens because all the people involved have gone off to companies that suck less.

More games in the 'verse is fine, but yeah, endings.

This takes me back...

...I have to admit, the more "artist's impression of Tali's face" pics I see, the more I hope she'll really turn out to be made of spiders.

Let's not get into the "artist's impression of other parts of Tali" ones.

*snrk*

There is something about Grunt there that just reminds me of Adelbert Steiner. Something about that square, frowny face, and I'm seeing the tail as the tip of a pointy helmet.

Also, I hate those things and their regenerating barriers so much. Next time I'm about to go up against one, I'm going to bring the Cain.

...Huh. I may not have been the best influence, but I'm pretty sure I can not take credit for that.

(Or, y'know, blame. One of those things.)

...uh.

Actually. That's probably worth the effort just to see the effect it would have on the rabid fanboys...

- how would she even eat that hamburger -

Anyway I hope it's made of Shifty Looking Cow.

I don't know if it's the same one, but here's something like that.

#485170 General Protection Error

Posted by vilkacis on 18 April 2010 - 07:15 AM in Mass Effect Series

How long are you waiting when the game doesn't respond? Because at least for me, ME1 loads extremely slowly, but it functions normally once it actually starts.

#485318 But Thou Must: Choice in Games with Obsidian

Posted by vilkacis on 19 April 2010 - 01:42 PM in General Gameplay

"Big words are hard right now!"

:D

Edit: The game looks pretty interesting, if they can live up to the hype.

Which no one ever does.

So it's probably going to suck.

Just saying.

"Redde Saverok quae sunt Saverok"

Yeah, I'm proud to announce that I don't understand a word of that.

(Except "Sarevok." I understand "Sarevok".)

#485622 Vampiric Wolves!..

Posted by vilkacis on 22 April 2010 - 08:51 PM in Mega Mod Help

Vampiric wolves seem to have immunity to non-magical weapons only, so any kind of +1 weapon or better should do the trick.

Damaging magic works as well, though if you don't even have a single enchanted weapon yet, you probably don't have enough of that to take down a vamp wolf. You should probably avoid the area until you're stronger.

#485858 SHS forum upgrade, new features and new look!

Posted by vilkacis on 24 April 2010 - 11:43 AM in Directives from the Director

I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that the link points to a forums.spellholdstudios.net address rather than a shsforums.net one. I've had similar problems when switching between them in the past.
