#407656 Dragons...

Posted by Lythari on 27 July 2008 - 10:16 AM in Layers of Reality

It would be priceless, if you color them!

I'll rather not do that. I'm better in pencil work than in colored, and I don't want to screw them up.    Maybe I'll try draw some dragons in color, though, just for practice.

BTW your Fll'Yissetat (goshh, who gave them those names? ) looks really great. It is that red dragoness in Abazigal's lair, right? :)

#407680 NWN fan art

Posted by Lythari on 27 July 2008 - 12:14 PM in Layers of Reality

 Epantiras, it is brilliant!

Regret I've never played NWN. I don't know if it would run on my old computer, NWN2 especially. :(
BTW I've heard that rangers can have various animal companions in this game, am I right?

#407684 How to create a spell?

Posted by Lythari on 27 July 2008 - 12:38 PM in IE Help

I want to try my hand in modding, though it would be completely new experience to me. I'm a total lame in this affair, so I need some advices for good start.

I was searching for a good tutorial for making spell mods, but I couldn't find anything. Only some threads for a bit more advanced modders. :( So I have a little request: do you know where I can find a good and easy tutorial for making spells? With such advices as: what programms or tools would I need? how to define if the spell would be used by mages or clerics or druids? how to make it memorizeable spell or special ability? how to edit creature that is summoned? etc. generally how to make it step by step. I'm especially interested in tips for summoning creatures spells (something like 'summon familiar' spell), if it'd make it easier.

#408838 Baldur's Gate Meme

Posted by Lythari on 31 July 2008 - 02:44 PM in Layers of Reality

It looks interesting, I've seen many of this on DA but I don't get how to fill this thing. Are you printing it, or filling it with pictures later on your computer or what? I know it is a stupid question, but I've never done it before.

#408920 Baldur's Gate Meme

Posted by Lythari on 31 July 2008 - 10:55 PM in Layers of Reality

The easiest way is to fill it digitally (especially if you have a tablet) or just draw something on paper, scan it and fill the memo :) Hmm, I think I'm going to do this.

I don't have a tablet... <_< I'll try this scan method.

...And then perhaps I shall make a meme of my own for the world needs more BG memes... *sneaks off*

Oh, yes, that would be good :D

#409565 BG fan comic reactivation

Posted by Lythari on 03 August 2008 - 12:51 PM in Layers of Reality

OK, I'm finally up with another part. Pictures are no problem, but dialogues and composition of the panels is still a pain for me.

After Gorions death Eskhata meets an old friend:

BG_fan_comic_6.jpg

That's all for now. Next in plans is finding mentioned mysterious letter and Gorion's burial. (and also encounter with Kivan and one talk from Xan's romance, but that's not so sure yet, I have to work it out .)

Hope you enjoy it ^_^

#410554 It's not about good and evil

Posted by Lythari on 07 August 2008 - 09:57 PM in Baldur's Gate Series

I believe that such things that good and evil exists but world isn't like a chess match: "here white, there black, and all fields are square". Sometimes it is hard to decide what choice would be the best, because both option may cause some wrong, lesser or greater, but there is an objective border between what is good and what is evil and it cannot be disregarded.

I'm usually playing good characters and try to make good deeds. I don't rob houses and never kill innocent bystanders, even if it is only game. I'd just feel really bad with it. Also I always try to spare life of creatures who ask me for it, vide those orcs in Firkraag's lair. I just think that killing someone who is begging for mercy is honorless. Even in BG1 I prefered to charm the Flaming Fist's soldiers who were after me after the Candleekep and make them go away than kill them. You know, they were only following their duties and Charname was commonly considered as a villain.

But I admit that in the game sometimes evil gives more profit. I personally don't feel good about Lilarcor quest. To gain it, you must take the stuff from the kobolds, who didn't do nothing wrong to you (of course you can buy it, but it resembles simple corruption too much) and kill Quallo's friend. But on the other hand, if you don't do this you won't free Quallo from Lilarcor's control and the man won't be able return to his family, so you must do something evil to achieve something good.

And for the question about Shadow Thieves and vampires. I find the thieves a lesser evil. Of course they are stealing and blackmailing, but they are at least human beings and are able to some humane feelings sometimes and they can act within some rules, and vampires, on the contrary, rather not. What's more, vampires wants to take Shadow Thieves place in the Amnian hierarchy. Just imagine: instead of simple burglar who steal your goods but spare your life if you won't annoy him you have a vampire who first kills you and your family for blood and fun, and then steal your goods as a bonus.

#411301 Discworld question

Posted by Lythari on 11 August 2008 - 10:29 PM in Delusions of the Mind

You definitely shouldn't miss "Guards!Guards!". It was the first Discworld novel I've read and IMHO the best, though I haven't read them all, yet. Also other books from Watch Novels are great, and I'd recomend Death Novels, too, especially "Mort". Death is one of my favourite characters. :)

I think you should keep the order of reading only within the "miniseries", if you want to read something from different series, ie. from Witches Novels and later from Watch Novels, you don't have to worry about their order too much.

#411708 Discworld question

Posted by Lythari on 12 August 2008 - 10:28 PM in Delusions of the Mind

I've toyed with the concept of making an NPC out of someone like Foul Ole Ron. The soundset would be pretty easy - you'd just have to have him spout random gibberish like "Buggerit" and "Millennium hand and shrimp."

That would be very interesting. :D I'd like to play it.
I've played long time ago in BG2 multiplayer with whole party created as a Night Watch and written notes in my journal in Carrot's letters style. It was fun.

#412019 Baldur's Gate Meme

Posted by Lythari on 13 August 2008 - 11:29 PM in Layers of Reality

Wow, all great memes. :D

Epantiras, that Shar-Teel on a last panel was priceless. And I like the "Enamrahc".

Sammi, you've done really good job, as always. I wonder what programm did you use for it? The coloring looks more, you know, 'professional' for simple MS Paint. And if you want to have Alora in BG2 you can download this mod.

Anyway, I've finally finished my meme. Drew with traditional techniques and pasted in good ol' Paint, so teh quality is "marvellous".

You have really beautiful style.

#413237 The object of the gods.

Posted by Lythari on 19 August 2008 - 12:13 PM in Layers of Reality

So we are up to draw the items, now? Hmm, so I'll pick my most favourite item (though it's something more than mere item), the mayor advantage of playing ranger: figurine of Cerebus the Moon Dog.

skanuj0002.jpg

It summons a cute doggy with very, very helpful innate powers.

#413380 The object of the gods.

Drizzt will be jelaous of this ~_^

I bet he will! ~_^

True, his cute! What's his name? ^_^

Cerebus.
You get him when you fulfill all quests for ranger's stronghold. :)

It states in my signature, anyway. :)

#413467 The object of the gods.

Posted by Lythari on 20 August 2008 - 11:43 PM in Layers of Reality

He's awfully cute for someone with a name like that.

I think you're mistaking Cerebus for Cerberus, vilksie. ;)

I've never heard of that comic. Actually, I didn't give him that name, this dog really is called Cerebus in game, if that's what you're thinking about.

And I like your pic, vilkacis. :D BTW, that guy reminds me of Rasputin, somehow.

#414033 The object of the gods.

Posted by Lythari on 22 August 2008 - 11:12 PM in Layers of Reality

Really good work, Jen. ^_^ And welcome to SHS!

Epantiras, IT. IS. SIMPLY. BRILLIANT!!! That really should be in the game.

#414363 Challenge #40: Spells

Yay, at last the challenge goes on! :D

Nice entry, Choo Choo ^_^
I like your dragon, vilkacis, it's really funny. :D
And welcome to SHS, Vhaira! Nice to see you here.

And here's something mine, you may know it from my DA account, but whatever...
Have you ever wonder, why summoned demons always want to kill the mage who casted the summoning spell?

I love Sammi's pictures, as always.
And Jazhara's cow... it's priceless.

#414749 Your first game.

Posted by Lythari on 25 August 2008 - 11:05 PM in General Gameplay

First game I've ever played? I don't remember, maybe Mario.

Ah, Age of Empires! I played that, too, but it wasn't the first game I played. I only had the trial version, if I remember correctly.

I remember that game. I've also had a trial version. Virtual IQ of people in that game always made me lol (and annoyed sometimes...). They never wanted to listen to my orders.
I remember that I used to make the fence of the stone walls and chase gazelles into it, and then put a townsman to guard them as a shepherd. And make catapult duels, to see which one destroy the other first. And the priests were hilarious. Ah, you brought good old memories.  ^_^

#414919 The Adventure of Dihdegan

It's really interesting, Sir Carnifex.
Waiting for more :)

#415368 Challenge #40: Spells

Posted by Lythari on 28 August 2008 - 10:55 PM in Fanart Challenge

Nice pic, JAMoczo :)

I've scratched something more, sorry for possible grammar and spelling mistakes, but I've done it without my uberenglisch internet dictionary.

This is an example that protection spells also can ruin your life. It's based on true in-game experience.

skanuj0005.jpg

How was I supposed to go into drow city with undisguised moon elf? <_< Remind me to throw him into the first spider pit we met...

#415371 Vhaira's BG fanarts!

Posted by Lythari on 28 August 2008 - 11:03 PM in Layers of Reality

Excellent works, Vhaira :) I like that group picture, their expressions are so... fitting :D
And don't tell me that you're not good artist, because you draw people and facial expressions better than me. You have your own style so PRACTICE IT! ;)
