sorry for my previous post, figured that out :doh:



is the copy, copy, copy, copy... then install, install, install, install... procedure described in the .doc file by erebusant significant?


can't you use simply copy, install, copy, install, copy, install... ?


it's a serious question - i don't know maybe some of the first mods are supposed to overwrite some of the files of the other mods and that's why they should be copied all at once before installation

anyway, i've always used the copy, install, copy, install... procedure

i've just got Revised_BP_BGT_v6.5_TP2_for_NO_BGT_Installed.rar and inside there's Setup-BP-BGT-Worldmap.tp2

do you mean that i have to:

1. uninstall Game Graphics User Interface
2. uninstall Defjam
3. uninstall worldmap

4. replace old Setup-BP-BGT-Worldmap.tp2 with the new one

5. install 3,2,1

?

(by the way, i'm using BP-BGT-Worldmap-v6.3 with some modofications done to links.tbl) - or do i have to install ver 6.5? i'v just noticed it is vailable?

when i'm using BGT and installing mods in this order:

0. Full BGII SOA+TOB+26498 patch (and BG1+ToTSC+5512 patch or BG Original Saga if installing BGT)
1. BG2 fixpack v1
2. NEJ2v42 + NEJ2v602 patch, and NEJ2 biffer v3 if using BP-weidu (but see *note)
3. SoS v1.11 and/or TDD v1.11 and/or CtB v1.8 and/or Tortured Souls for BP v6.09 and/or Reign of Terror v2.0 - in any order (but note: NEJ2 and CtB have some incompatibilities. be sure you want to install both of these before you go ahead and do so)
4. Baldur's Gate Trilogy v1.02 (read the instructions in readme file before installing) and NeJ2-BGT compat patch if using both NEJ2 and BGT
5. Dark Side of the Sword Coast v1.85

hmm, if im not mistaken BP, SCS and Quest Pack all modify AI

i think it's probably better to use only one of them

if was suspcious of this order as i understand SCS adds global changes to the game and i thought it would be better to install it at the end of the list since there are mods after BGT (and so also after SCS)

You can use SCS and BP, if you install SCS BP-component (my hands are aching from typing this again)

SCS = BG1 part of the game
BP = BG2 part of the game



i didn't know that, i thought they were more or less generally applied to BG1/2 as a whole

now it's become clear why SCS must go immediately after BGT :)

in the sticky, it says '- Simding0's Experience Fixer - NOTE: Fully compatible with BP and BP+ games.'

yet, i found this advice: ' DEFJAM XP fixer v3 - in my opinion, it's a must on every BGT install; otherwise game is very unbalanced because you receive 1000's xp for every lock picked or spell learned. Don't install component reducing XP given for creatures - it has compatibility issues with Big Picture. I usually use "Reduce XP awards for locks/traps/spells to 10%" and uninstall it when I reach BG2. If you want to use DEFJAM, install it right before running Setup-GUI in the last step.

does this incompatibility refer to the latest versions of the mods or is it something that was in the previous versions - do you recommend installin creature xp reduction component?

Yes, if fixes some worldmap problems.



but is it necessary to replace EVERYTHING in the old file with what is in this new table, or only some part of it should be replaced - certain lines? there is considerably LESS stuff in the new table, i'd say some one tenth of what is in the old one...

so, shall i copy the contents of Ctbv1.8 into BGII folder and then copy the conents of this Chores_for_G3FixPack_Fix (i think they will overwrite some of the Ctbv1.8 files), and then install?

by the way, is G3 FixPack the same as the latest BG2 Fixpack by the Gibberlings three, becasue i have the latter?

no, CtB Chores v2 can be downloaded here. the Chores FastForward can be downloaded here.

as i understand it, Chores v2 makes the first part of CtB - the chores part - playable; Chores FastForward allows you to skip the chores entirely.



i don't really want to install Chores FastForward, but i have now the following files: CtBv1.8, CtBXPFix (has to do with experience cap), Setup-CtB-Chores (Chores v2?), and Chores_for_G3FixPack_Fix (has to do with G3 FixPack)

i'm a bit confused, could someone suggest the right installation order?

in Setup-CtB-Chores there is this file: Setup-CtB-Chores.tp2, but the same file seems to be in CtBv1.8 - inside there are Ctb folder, Setup-Ctb.exe, Setup-Ctb.tp2, AND Setup-CtB-Chores.tp2.

one silly question - when do i start the chores component? if i start the game from the beginning and have BGT, will i start the chores at the very beginning of the game when i'm inexperienced in Candlekeep (this would make sense), or when i have killed sarevok and i'am starting SoA?

There is alot to play with just the main mods. Maybe you should get a game going and working right with them before you try to install very little mod. Just to get my install to work right I often have to reinstall 3 or 4 times. See if you can get BP-BGT-TDD-SoS-TS working right.



please, don't discourage me :)

the point is that BP-BGT-TDD-SoS-TS is a larger part of the modded game, when i've finished it, i will have absolutely no motivation to go back to it with smaller mods added, so i guess it's best to install a bit more than just BP-BGT-TDD-SoS-TS at the very beginning...

anyway, when i look at other people's mega-installations, i think that mine isn't really that impressive

Yes they should all work!!! I always use 1pp-v2 with BP-BGT. Use Sword Coast Stratagems for BGT version 4.2 with BGT.


and e.g. a mod 'Amber' - it's an NPC mod and in the readme it says 'This mod is designed to work with Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn with the Throne of Bhaal expansion pack. The mod should be compatible with other WeiDU mods...' - nothing about BGT or Tutu, is it compatible with BGT? if so, does it mean that all mods that are WeiDU and are designed for BG1/2 are automatically BGT compatible unless there is a warning about incompatibility? because in the readmes of many mods there is nothing about BGT...

i'm asking because it says e.g. in the One Pixel Productions readme that 'This Artwork pack is designed to work with Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn with or without the Throne of Bhaal expansion pack. The mod is also compatible with Tutu.' - there is not a word here about BGT, i don't want to mess things up

actually, the same seems to refer to Sword Coast Stratagems, i know there is a post 'Sword Coast Stratagems for BGT version 4.2', but i couldn't find any reference to BGT in the readme, only some referrences to TuTu

and what about QuestPack v2.3?

so i just wanted to make sure it's ok to install them with BGT

i've just downloaded the SoS mod v1.11 - the files are in a rar archive - is there a particular folder that i need to copy the files from the archive before installation or it doesn't matter?
