High EvilMax:  

 

I had lots of trouble with Bandits Camp.  Regeneration around the old temple (?) in the south was a problem.  Had to kill all guards before resting or the guards regenerate.  Shortly after the first battle, all the characters from the camp join the fight.  Managed to kill all with Wand of Fire and Fireball spells, Skull Trap spells and a short bow that shoots Magic Missiles (expensive but worth it).  I had one bard and three mages with me.  I went into lots of softer areas first to build up characters before taking on the hard fights.

 

Sorry I cannot remember more, but I am having memory problems.  Need to write lots of notes to remember what I did in the game.  My doctor thinks it is normal for my old age, but I find it very miserable.

When this happened to non main character, I just killed him then resurrected him and that fixed the problem.  Now nothing works.

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I guess I am really messed up and my memory is really deteriorated.  It takes me 4 to 7 times to type these posts before I get them right.  Just now I forgot my main character's name.

 

I played some more and overwrote the games so I do not have a healthy save for comparison.  I never used CHEATS before so I have not been able to use CTRL+R.  Cheats=1 is in the baldur file.  I use CTRL-Space to open up the bar.  Tried all forms of Cheats, but got all errors.  I will search for instructions on how to use it.  I will search out Greater Restoration and install it in my cleric.  She is 13th level has 6th level spells, but not Greater Restoration.  So I will search out a cleric that has the spell.

 

I deleted the two lines with Constitution  -3 in them.  Only fixed the data in the RECORD page.  I will try also deleting Portrait Icon lines following Constitution  -3.  Be right back. Guess what, half my brain is still working.  Removing

from Shadow Keeper [Affects] took the Energy Drain icons away and fixed the Constitution value.

 

Now another problem.  I just skipped over this one.  In Dark Side of the Sword Coast v3, I came across bone golems.   After two hours, of trying everything, I gave up.  Tried every weapon, both magical and non-magical without success.  Checked with Near Infinity.  Not good with it, but I can read the details.  The name is ICBONE01.CRE.  I did not find that name that name in the Dark Side of the Sword Coast v3 cre list.  All creatures start start with "ds" except skellord.cre.  No name with resembling "golem".

 

There is a Resist list which I assume stands for weapons that do no damage.  From that, bone golems are 50% resistant to slashing, piercing and missile weapons and bone golems not resistant to magic cold and crushing weapons.  I tried these too.  Not one weapon did any damage to the bone golems and about every bone golem hit did major damage to my characters.  I hope other players find a way to kill these bone golems.

Hi All:

 

My main character is a Paladin/Undead Hunter.  I am more than half into Baldur's Gate when I noticed he was changed.  He now is a Paladin/Fallen Undead Hunter.

 

Tried to fix him by donating large sums (2,000,000) of gold to a priest, but was told it was not enough to increase reputation.  Removed all equipment and nothing changed so I assume it was not caused by an item.  Exported him to the characters file and used Near Infinity to examine him.  I can read most Near Infinity stuff but am ignorant on how to use Near Infinity.  Found four sections: View,  Edit, Stats and Items/Spells.  In Flags in Edit, found ( Fallen Paladin (9)  Export allowed (11) ).  Clicked on flags and a list of them appeared.  Checked State Flags in Shadow Keeper.  I could could not match SK with NI.

 

I would appreciate any help about removing the Fallen Undead Hunter.  I prefer doing legally, but if that is too difficult I would use SK or NI.  I would also need instructions for NI.

Thanks for your solution.  It worked.  I had some problem with finding the green view/edit in:

 

"Choose the Tab "Edit" scroll down and click on "CRE file" (should be the last entry). Click again on "View/Edit".


Click on "Flags" (should be 5th line) and below there should come up 4 columns of check boxes. Uncheck the box "Fallen Paladin" and check "Original class: Cleric"

 

The problem was not your instructions but my unfamiliarity with NI. I found it on the third try.

 

Thanks again.  You have saved me many, many hours.  You are a terrific help to us who are amateurs at understanding the way these mods work.

I found a minor addition to fixing the paladin from Fallen Undead Hunter back to Undead Hunter.  It involves Shadow Keeper Proficiencies.

 

If you give the paladin any flag but the NI Original class:Ranger (8) or give the paladin multiple NI Original classes:, the paladins proficincies will be in the Shadow Keeper Proficiencies 2nd Class column.  If you give the paladin only the flag NI Original class:Ranger (8), the paladins proficincies will be in the Shadow Keeper Proficiencies 1st Class column.

 

I do not know what difference this makes if any or how this affects the paladins behavior.

Hi All:
 
Finished Baldur's Gate.  Some problems but was able to work through the game.  ow all hell breaks loose.
 
I killed Sarevok, but there were only three companions not four.  Went yo Belt and told him Sarevov was dead.  Belt sends me to Athkatla and the trouble starts.  Some times Belt disappears and I am left in Duchal Palace.  Somtimes I end up in the woods captured by Mae'Var.  Then I am in the dungeon for an instant and then I fade to the story of my life.  Then I get a picture of the dungeon by the library.  I am in the dungeon with the genie and the sequence  plays.  I agree to get the genie's lamp and the game halts.  Well a quick three finger salute and I get the Windows Task Manager and Tobex Console windows on the screen.  The Windows Task Manager shows both Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Amn - Throne of Bhaal ans Tobex Console are running.

  
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get Baldur's Gate II running.  If I create a game with Baldur's Gate II it does install and run.
 
The mods I am using are the mods Leonardo lists in Big World Project v18.1 English.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

 

I make no claims of being an expert using the Spellhold Studios website.   I am not sure what The Imp's comment meant.  I think he is saying not to send the WeiDU.exe file but to put it in a Spoiler.  First, I am using WeiDu.exe v24400.  That may help.

 

If you send instructions on how to upload the WeiDU.exe file into a Spoiler and it is permitted by Spellhold Studios to do that, I will sent it.  I think in the past, I was not allowed to upload exe files.  So I will change it to WeiDU.TXT if Spellhold Studios does not accept  WeiDU.EXE or WeiDU.

Hi All:

 

I tried to run a BG2 megamod game, but it crashed before I got into Athkatla.  So it looks like BGT is over for me.  I followed Leonardo's WeiDU.log, leaving out many mods.  The mods I kept I followed using the same components Leonado used.  But there must be other mods that are needed and I left them out.  Thanks to all for their help.  At least I can play Baldur's Gate in BGT, but it would be more fun if I could add Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal.

 

I am going to try to play Big World Setup.  It has been a long time since I played it and I forgot how to set it up.  I would appreciate if someone would post where the instructions for BWS are posted.  In the meantime I will search for them.

Well I am totally confused.  Your posts make a lot of sense, but my brain does not function as well as it once did.  Here is where I am now.

 

Back in the days of BiG World Project v13 and v14, I could make a megamod game with lots of mods that played well.  Since BiG World Project v16 I have struggled with any megamod game I made.  My solution in BiG World Project v18.1 was to follow Leonardo's WeiDU.log (on page 340) using the mod versions and components he listed there.  I assume he made and played that game.  I just skipped mods that I did not have or did not want.  I do not like NPC mods so I skip them.

 

I have three working computers.  All have Windows 7 Professional (X64) Service Pack 1, at least 16 GB RAM, at least two 1 TB hard drives, Microsoft Security Essentials (turned off for games) and CCleaner to cleanup messes.  Usually have two games running to check what works.

 

My first tries were a disaster.  Leonardo includes lots of mods that other players say do not work and that I find that will not install.  Not being an expert at understanding how mods work and how to find conflicts, I rely and the help of the expert players for help.  

 

Yesterday, I modified my game according to Sergio's comments.  Without Sergio's suggestions, that game would complete Balder's Gate to the point Belt sends you to Athkatla.  Then it crashed after the Shadows of Amn introduction.  I removed the mods Sergio suggested from individual.bat and the game would not install.  Then I removed the mods Sergio suggested from BiG World Downloads and the game installed.  After starting the game, I could ant save it.  So I gave up.

 

Without any help I am lost.  What I would like is someone to post the mods that they use which work, their individual.bat that works and their WeiDU.log.  I will load that game and see if it works on my computers.  Yes, I am smart enough to realize that I have a computer problem and that needs to be tested.  In the mean time, I will try the megamod games Leonardo has in BiG World Installpack.  I will copy and post the install choices I made.

Thanks for the information.  I will try Project Infinity as soon as I get all the mods selected.

 

Project Infinity does not look too difficult.  I remember that with the older BWP you had to extract mods into Shadows of Amn.  So if it works time is not important.  Besides I am retired and have all the time I need.  My only interruptions are taking my wife to eat and shop.

 

One question.  I have many mods that have multiple versions.  I assume you would use the latest version unlike with BWP some mods are version dependent on other mods.

Hi ALL:

 

I am trying to play at least another megamod game.  At my age, with my memory problems, that is a challenge.  Thirty years ago I was great with computers, but today I need to write down everything or I mess it all up.  Fortunately, my wonderful wife takes good care of me and lets me but any computers, parts or games I want.  Great for my retirement. Enough of my problems.

 

I followed Sergio's post to Project Infinity in Beamdog.  Looks interesting.  Downloaded the files and found the downloaded version was even better.  Searched from more detailed instructions but could not find them.  I wold like the address of the file and detailed instructions if it exists.

 

From the files I downloaded I got one problem.  I only use Microsoft Security Essentials.  It is turned off when I download mods and install and play games.  During loading Projectinfinity.exe or Projectinfinity-master.zip I got this.  "Trojan:Win32/Bearfoos.A!ml" and it was rated severe.  It is quarantined and I can not find it anywhere on my computer so I do not know from where it came.  Is this a known Project Infinity problem or is this restricted to my computer?

 

I also looked at Big World Setup.  I think it also has a BGT setup.  I see the posts on SHS below BWPv18 Release and will read it soon.  Also saw it on Beamdog.  But I could not find out how to download that file.

 

On a side note, I am not comfortable with either Beamdog or GitHub.  I especially hate the master files because they remove all the older files which occasionally are needed.  There may be a way to get older mods by I am ignorant of the process to get them.

 

Another side note.  Microsoft is pushing me to Windows 10.  There are two versions, Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home.  Both come in 32-bit and 64-bit.  One version is still free and I assume it is Windows 10 Home.  I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  You need to give Microsoft your current license number so I am hoping that if I choose to get the free copy of Windows 10, I would get the Pro version.  My real purpose about Windows 10 is I would like to know which version of Windows is best for Project Infinity, BWP and BWS when you play a BGT game.

 

There is one problem in this board that drives me nuts.  Hey, I contribute so I have a right to comment.  When I make typing mistakes, and I do make many, sometimes the cursor changes to blue from black which only overwrites the current content.  How do I get it back to black so I do net have to retype large sections?  I tried everything up above.

 

Finally, I know this could bother some people, but writing mods and tools to make megamod games takes a lot of time and effort.  Depending on the effort, it would be fair if the authors got some sort of stipend for their efforts.  When I look at my book shelf and see all the D&D games that I paid $50 or more to buy.  Many were not the quality of some mods, I feel a bit guilty that I can get somebody's hard work for nothing.  At least I would like some way to make a donation to the authors like you can make a donation to SHS.  Perhaps a box for their name and amount.  By having SHS handle this, personal information would be protected.

I understand the frustration with mods.  I forgot if it is DSotSC or NTotSC, but the steps you take for one of them is critical.  Take one out of order and you miss some part of the mod.

 

I just check the old mods I saved.  I have been playing BWP since v7 and maybe earlier.  The earliest I saved was v7.  I think I got through from Baldur's Gate to Tales of the Sword Coast to Shadows of Amn to Throne of Bhaal only three times.  The rest of the times it was just frustration with faulty mods or not being able to find critical mods.  There are many walkthroughs that were more than useful. But new versions often make the early walkthroughs less than useful.

 

I usually get through Baldur's Gate/Tales of the Sword Coast before I crash.  I have that part loaded with all the mods thus I now the paths by heart.  Or at least I did till my memory started to fail.  The reason I play  Baldur's Gate/Tales of the Sword Coast is that I found out my characters get wiped out if I have not used  Baldur's Gate/Tales of the Sword Coast to build them up.  I assume this because some mod makers make the mods very difficult.  Other crashes are instantaneous and I am not an expert in fixing mod problems.

 

Leonardo's BWP is great for making megamods even those with only a few extra mods.  But since V16 I have major problems in making a workable megamod.  With versions 17 and 18, I can only get through  Baldur's Gate/Tales of the Sword Coast.  With playing a megamod only for Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal I usually crash somewhere in Irenicus' dungeon.  Once I made it to Athkatla but crashed when I tried to go to another area.  I am not blaming Leonardo.  I go to the WeiDU.log he has in the BWP book (with that many pages it is a book).  I am amazed at the number of mods he has in his games and the fact they do not crash.  I try to make sure the only mods and components I use are the mods and components in his WeiDu.log.  I will correct components that are listed in the Weidu.log but are listed in the BWP book as being in two mods and being conflicts.  So far that does not work. One thing I would like to see added to Leonardo's BWP book is the URLs for the mods he uses.  I know some are no longer available.  I do not know how legal it is to post mods that are no longer supported by the author or the URL in which they were posted no longer exists.

 

Leonardo work has inspired authors to also make "tools" to create megamods.  There is BWS and Project Infinity.  I think there are different versions of BWS.  When I toyed with it, I had problems with mods that contained bugs. I think there is a version that support BGT games.  I need to search out information about that.  

 

I have looked at Project Infinity and I think it claims that it corrects all bugs.  Sounds to go to be true. I feel its instructions are week and so far I have trouble understanding them.  I have no trouble extracting the mods even the ones that do not follow a standard method of compacting them.

 

I have not kept up with the EE and EET mods and the tools to play them.  I think the graphics are great, but the number of mods that have been create or updated is limiting.

 

As I stated in an earlier post I am not very familiar with Beamdog and GitHub. I also have not kept up with these programs(?).

 

Now for Check the Bodies, Dark Side of the Sword Coast, Northern Tales of the Sword Coast, Shadows Over Soubar, The Darkest Day and The Vault.  I think the best way to tackle Dark Side of the Sword Coast and Northern Tales of the Sword Coast is to read the walkthroughs.  I have not seen any later versions of walkthroughs but the older versions will still give you the order of some of  the steps to take.  Usually enough to get you through the mod. I remember there were some that I did not understand why the order was so critical, but it was needed.  The other place to get information is the Readme files.  But I found some totally a waste of space.  What I appreciate in a Readme file is mod title, file name to extract, version number, install tool that the mod is compatible with and a good Readme.  Mods that have this are a pleasure to play.

 

Now I will search out Project Infinity.  Maybe Leonardo will make a BWP v19, than I will switch back to BWP.

I know you are very busy, but if you have some time, please identify the correct versions for BiG World Project v18.1.  I assume some could just be typos.

Hi All:

 

Do to my age, I am having some memory problems.  So I would appreciate some forgiveness when I repeat something or make dumb mistakes.

 

With BWP v18.1, I have no luck with a megamod game.  So far I have tried over 40 megamods this year and had very little luck with the mega modgame.  You name it, I have tried it.  I few times, I have gotten Baldur's Gate work to where I kill Sarevok, but I always crash where Mae Var captures me or in  Irenicus' stronghold in Athkatla.  Right now, I am starting with the mods in Corrections and Improvements and in BG1 sections.  I will try a megamod game with them,  If a game works, I will add each section untill I eliminate any problems.

 

I am having trouble with using SPOILERS.  I find the spoiler BB Code.  Open the box and type in the message, then save the spoiler.  This is what I get.

Please tell me how to correct the mistake (s) I make when I go ti save the spoiler.

 

Another problem I have is fixing atweaks v4.53.  I found this on Beamdog.  ",,,copy and rename a WeiDU executable from another mod."  My problem is I do not know what "a WeiDU executable" is.  Spent a log time trying to find that one,  Found lots of pages about WeiDU but nothing about executable.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Another wish.  I need to check out me computers.  What I could use is a BWP megamod that worked on another computer.  I would need a list of mods used, a copy of individual.bat if it was modified and the selections use for the game.  If anyone can provide that information, I really would appreciate that.

Thanks for the reply.  Your explanation is great.  It covers all of the details.  On of the best I have seen.  I had some minor surgery and need anther days rest.  I will read it now and then use the information to fix aTweaks v4.53.  BWPv18.1 uses WeiDU 244.  I already deleted v246 so I do not expect to have any trouble.

I tried VCv10  with Section 1 and a few other mods.  It played but with errors.  I tried VCv20 with Section 1 and Section 2 and a few other mods.  VCv20 did not install.

Hi All:

 

I spent a lot of time creating a megamod game.  Started with BWP.PDF Section 1 and added Sections as each was played and tested.  I think I have a working game.

 

Found some bugs, but I was able to work around them.  They did not cause the game to crash.  The bugs were expected.

 

I have two similar computer setups.  One worked well but the other crashed when I played the same exact game.  Tried to reinstall my version, but could not.  Called Microsoft for help.  Found out my version of Windows 7 PRO 64 bit was an older version.  Microsoft emailed me the latest version (for free) which worked with my key.  Fixed many problems.  That service is good as long Windows 7 is supported.

 

A few problems that I cannot fix.  In The Bigg Tweak Pack v2.61, I cannot get the dropped spellbooks to work.  May be a bug.  I would appreciate it if someone would post instructions on how to use the spellbooks.  The other is that I would like to get Fishing for  Trouble to install.  I have several versions, but not install.  I would appreciate the name of the version (not the entire mod) that works and/or where to find it.

 

Finally, I believe I was editing "individual.bat" incorrectly.  For example:

If I wanted to delete astScriptPatcher, I would do the following:

:SKIP0022

 

Now I tried the following:

          REM call %EINST% astScriptPatcher "0"
)
 
This seems to work much better and without crashes.
 
Finally, the current megamod game game has about 215 mods.  The seem to be working OK together.  I have yet to get to BG2 which frequently was my crash point.  This game include some mods which I could not include with my older method of editing "individual.bat".

Interesting comments.  I never used Notepad++ so I down loaded Notepad++ v7.7.  I installed my copy of individual.bat to Notepad  and Notepad++ and compared the files.  Notepad++ has some very nice features, but I am not sure the final result is better.  Notepad++ has nice color and '>nul' and the end of the 'findstr' lines.  With a little more work, you can get color and text with Microsoft Word and WordPerfect. Also the spacing and functions with Notepad++ was nicer than with Notepad.  But my final assessment is to use the one you are more familiar with.  For me, today I would use Notepad because I am not familiar with the commands of Notepad++.  As I learn Notepad++, I may switch to using it.

 

The only lines in Notepad++ that had a comment at the end of a line was the >nul at the end of the 'findstr' line.  I did not know what to expect at the end ot the other lines.  Maybe there was another code to turn on.  As I said, I am new to Notepad++ (only 15 minutes) so I do not know what each key does and there are a lot of keys. I also was confused about the word wrap comments.  (Notice, I am confused about lots of things.) Here again, Notepad++ has a nice way to display the line continuation.  It changes the color of the first word of the continuation line.

 

So the color features are a nice addition.  But, coloring words takes extra code.  Does this code go away when the file is saved.  Do the same colors come back when you reopen the file?  I will leave that to the designers of Notepad++.

 

Leonardo does a great job with BWP.  He recommends using Notepad for editing files.  The only thing I would like to see is how to edit inside 'findstr' sections.  Frequently, the lines in the findstr sections have other instructions.  So now I only use a REM in from of the findste sections that are CALL statements or have CALL statements in them. This seams to work for me.

 

I have run about 25 games in the past few weeks.  Starting with the necessary mods and mods from BWP.pdf v8.1.2 in Section 1.  Then adding the mods I want from each section until it works or fails.  Sometimes when they fail, I try a other version of the same mod.  Well this time, using my method to edit individual.bat, I do have a working game of about 220 mods. I am still in BG1.

Thanks for the comments.  My game is almost going well.  Last night an area named Lighthouse crashed.  Tried several times and from several ways, but it crashes about 10 seconds after you enter the area.  Locks up the computer.  Since it is a original Baldur's Gate area, either my disc is bad or some mod altered the game improperly.  Tried reinstalling Baldur's Gate, but does not fix the area.  Easy to skip.  It is not required for the game.

Thanks for the information.  I used "Sirines Call_v14.zip" which is the recommended mod in BiG World Project v18.1.  Component #2 is Extended Lighthouse Area which was installed.  It is now removed for the next game.

 

I should have read the read_me for version 15. The "Sirines Call_v15.zip" in the readme.html file states "fixed crashing Lighthouse Area in BG:EE and EET for installed component "Extended Lighthouse Area" ".  I wonder if it was fixed for the BGT game?

OOPS!  I just checked the WeiDU.log in BiG World Project v18.1.  Leonardo used "Sirines Call_v15.zip" in that game.
