Either is fine in English, but I think I would actually prefer "mages" for the game. "Magi," though the plural of the Latin root "magus," has a more biblical meaning in English. Either way, it should not be capitalised unless at the beginning of a sentence or part of someone's name/title/organisation etc.

Took the words right outta me head :D Right down to the "magus" reference (i always wondered why mage->magi when only words ending in -us->-i :coolthumb:)

And lo and behold, the only reference to magi in vanilla BGII-ToB:

A cauldron of cold intrigues! A witches brew of bad news! Cyricists of the Twin Towers of the Eternal Eclipse are wooing the ogre magi Sythsillis and Cyrvisnea.

Said by one of the Town Criers ... Seems like it's mages after all (ogres always somehow seemed oriental to me ... I dunno why :D) Now, looking at the BGI-TotSC dialogs, I can confirm that magi is always used while referring to Ogre-Magi, never others ...

I don't think "Fighter-Mage" is supposed to be the guy's title, so fighter-magician was ok. Stuff like longsword and grandmaster probably isn't either, unless again, a proper name. English, unlike German, capitalises very little. Stuff in the STATISTICS section should go with whatever's most common in the game though. (Gods, we have pages and pages of this kind of boring stuff in the BG1 Fixroom... probably why I don't visit there much anymore heh.)

Aye aye capitan  Will take care from next time ...

Cheers,
Lol

I dunno if this is a BWP issue or a ToA issue, but the English install of ToA on my BWP 8.2 still has the German voice-overs with English text (sorta :P )

If I may suggest omitting the German voice-overs from the English install - it is rather jarring when encountered. IMO, better no voice than breaking the fourth wall.

And in American English, in D&D usage, I've founded that mage > mages, magus > magi, and the use of the singular mage is far more common. We used to have this fruity kid that played D&D with us sometimes when we were kids that insisted upon calling mages "magi" and we all eventually got so annoyed that we stopped inviting him.

I am playing the BWP v8.2

Eventually, I pass through a portal, where Cyric (my game always seems to CTD when I am supposed to face Cyric -- 2nd time/mod now...)is demanding a tablet (The Tablet of Fate, I assume from reading books...)
With him are Mystra, a priest of Sune (Adon?) and a warrior (Kelemvor?)
Anyway, I get a CTD, with the following error:

"An assertion failed in ChVidImage3d.cpp at line 899."

Thanks!

Shouldn't this thread be updated to reflect the new version 2.2 released by Jastey that is availalbe at the BWP Linklist? :whistling:
And the crash mentioned in the above post is fixed by v2.2.

:ermm: I also have a few questions regarding the following components which are not installed as per the BWP 9.4 User Guide:

"Remove Sounds" - does this just remove the German voice overs? Or what else?

"Remove Nomoran from the following Areas: 1] Waukeens Promenade (Chapter 6) 2] Amkethran (ToB)" - is this just for replay value? Or for other reasons?

All the "Balancing" components as well could do with a brief explaination.

The mod needs a readme <_< (well written one :P ) added to the OP.

Hello!

I do not know, what to do in area " Z2SCHL" - ToB part. Seems to me, that an "assasine" is missing, who has to kill the general. Z2SchlachtStart and ZSchlachtCutl are both zero. Resting does not help and the scouts will not appear either or I can not find them and the soldiers are not talkative.

Setting ZSchlachtCutl to one, before talking to Nekernar twice, solved my problem with the missing cutscene.

I ran into a problem installing TOA. I have attached a copy of the debug file as requested. The game is BGII + TOB.

I did go over to baldursgatemods.de, but my German is no longer what it used to be.

t looks like a failure in Argent77's tis convert functions.

I had the same using DavidW immutability architecture (using weidu_external as %MOD_FOLDER%). The fix was to modify the function's parameters so that it points %MOD_FOLDER% to %mod_root%.

Well, i solved the problem by downloading a new copy of the mod and i installed it. It worked without a problem. I suspect that i was hit with a bug or something that corrupted my BGII game directory. I have been using Norton to scan everything in the game directory and my download directory, where i actually keep the files that i download. Just as an example; the download of the G3Aniversary v11, was placed in quarantine by Norton, but i downloaded the mod again and then installed, without a problem. Very strange.

My problems started about a month ago, with an area file that i couldn't get DLTCEP to decompress. I have deleted everything and installed and then reinstalled and then re-reinstalled and then re-re-reinstalled. I have downloaded numerous copies of mods and scanned everything over and over again. It's hard to determine sometimes if the current problem is new or if it is a hold over from the corrupted game that i had been playing. I am grateful for the time and patience that i have gotten from all of the people that actually look into other peoples problems.

Thank you

Glad you could solve it! Random, local problems are always the hardest.
