It's obvious that slots 0-83 are reserved by ToB.
BUT.....
1) There're no references from any .ARE/.BCS/.DLG to the following EXISTING songs:
- 37 Kalah MXKALAH.MUS
- 41 Tavern1 TAV1.MUS
- 42 Tavern2 TAV2.MUS
2) There ARE references from some .ARE to:
- 64 Area1602 MX1602.MUS
- 65 Area2202 MX2202.MUS
- 66 Tavern5 TAV5.MUS
- 67 Tavern6 TAV6.MUS
but the MUS's DO NOT exist.
So, in theory, we have up to 7 additional free slots there + 84-99 that are free by themselves.
Plz, if anybody has an information related to above mentioned soundslots, tell me. I'm still not sure about 37,41,42......

Does the list need to be made up of just two digit numbers??? Could it be made up with something like 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and 2A, 2B, 2C??? Has anyone tried this? Not a programmer so there could be many reasons this wont work.

The engine tends to ignore the numbers and reads the line number instead. So if you put 86 in line number 99, then it is still 99. The problem is if you have over 100 lines then you get the ChDimm error.A silly question.

I was CHEATED by NI editor violently!
I launched 2 NIs - 1 for TOB 1 for BG1 - and listened to songs using both editors. So they played me the SAME thing when I was trying to compare songs...
(nice JAVA programming heheh) They used the same cash directory.....
There're no identical battle songs unfortunately.... THEY RUINED MY HAPPY THEORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :online2long:

I don't know if Ascension64 will agree to include that in WeiDu install but I'm sure - this music config is the best for a MOD itself. Sorry, there's no more free slots for another mods.
Songs.rar
1) All AREs modified to suit included SONGLIST.2DA.
2) 100% taverns had no set sound at all. This is corrected.
3) Maximum possible combat sounds are imported from bg1.
4) There were many sound codes that left untouched since Bardez took them from BG1. They contained BG1 track numbers. This is corrected as well.
During the installation I suggest to replace existing SoA's theme sound with one from BG1 (as far there'll be even a special GUI). That slot is number 33 (THEME.MUS). It's simple with WeiDU.
There's a problem with a free slot for city day/night sounds. I replace them with almost similar TDay/TNight. But it's possible to change it vice versa 'coz now I think that C_ sounds are more of a "city" style.....
I personally will use this configuration - there're too many good songs in BG1 to allow myself to skip them....

I'll take it, KD. Sounds good. :thumb:This is my current update (for possible including into installation package) on musical side of BGT that makes it almost happy.

Great work on the songs :thumb: Just a question here: Are all these songs really hard-linked to areas or are some only called from scripts? I am asking because if they are called from scripts we could use PlaySound() instead of PlaySong() freeing even more slots. I think using PlaySound() would even be possible for areas when invoked from an OnCreation trigger. Not too sure if this would work though, just a thought

I thought about it. It's possible to use PlaySound() instead of PlaySong() for the areas that won't be a place for hard battles obviously, such as taverns and temples that usually don't have a battle song reference at all as well as day/nite themes separation.
The same is for NPC's romance themes (or related) that are getting launched from scripts: MXAERIE, MXANOM, MXJAHIR, MXKHALI, MXVICON. But this will require some patching of original ToB contents....
I don't know.... Right now I'm trying to find something in the disassembled BGMain.exe..... Not sure if it worth though....

I wrote - I replaced it with TDay/Tnight but I want to switch it back to some of CDay music 'coz it much more suits for cities and still good for open areas. To replace it it's just necessary to rstore mentioned .bat entries there and to change tnite/tday 2DA slots to cday/cnite.
Btw I would use CDay2 theme instead of CDay1.
