Well, I'm putting great hopes in NWN 2 and Dragon Age, just in case TES V isn't going to be very good anymore without said paid content.

Actually enchanting and spellmaking are in the original game.

Aye, but only through the mage's guild, there are no "rogue" enchanters or spellmakers anywhere in Cyrodil. If you are a fighter and want a good custom enchanted weapon, you also have to be a good mage. -_-
The effects selection is also very limited, to put it lightly.

Besides, with the third official mod titled "Wizard's Tower," my guess shouldn't be off by much. :D
(I rarely make predictions based on faith alone :P )

Well, you just have to complete the mage guild missions and they don't require magic at all. Yep, I agree on the fact that enchanting is less overpowered this time, it actually makes you appreciate the artifacts you find in the game. And then there's always the CS if you want to mess around, so it's not really flawed that way.

I wish these mods were 360 compatible. :( I wonder if there is a possibility of them releasing the game with the mods in stores, like they did with Morrowind?
Defunct, but r teh rly, lol: Tork NPC, WOWCAAVB?, Barbados NPC, Anti-Ding0 Chinchilla NPC, Attack of the Bears!

No. No, they really are defunct.

Not likely, as they have the 'official' mods available for 360 users.

Yep, and that's the way it's probably going to stay. If Microsoft would agree to allow X-Box players use some of the best rated user-created mods, they would also have to review them and convert them into X-Box compatible format before they could release them... and considering that they wouldn't get any money off it and that they would have to use their time and resources to do so... well, it just isn't going to happen.

Well I'm going to play Oblivion for the first time, and would like to thank Archmage Silver and others. It's much easier to navigate through all these mods if you know what to look for.
Reading through all the descriptions, most mods are fixes or improvements to original game content, not some new added content. Makes one wonder how original game was actually playable? :D

These are the mods I found interesting, can someone wise tell me if there're incompatibilities between them? any other word of advice for the newbie also welcome!

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul
Jarol's NPC Leveled Equipment Mod

They should conflict... use only one. You might have noticed this by now.

No Psychic Guards

Conflicts with the official patch, unless the author has updated No Psychic Guards.

Stormier Storms

Some conflicts with More Immersive Sound.

Remember to check out the Mod Conflict Detector.

Incidentally, a new version of Oscuro's is allegedly being released tommorow.

I say 'allegedly', because the author has been promising a release "within the next few days" for over a month now. This is why I much prefer the "the mod will be released When It's Done ™" philosophy ;).

True enough. ;) I prefer to use Francesco's though.

Edit: Just noticed that I'm using 53 mods for Oblivion, even though I'm using the KISS method!
