Transition/ New Game issues

when i try to compile, errors come up such as

Resource not found: S:ScriptFile* - "SBTMIN"
Resource not found: S:ScriptFile* - "SBTIMO"
Resource not found: S:ScriptFile* - "SBTJAH"

along with some missing parenthesis-errors...

do i just delete them or what do i do about it?

edit: the lines go like "ActionOverride("Imoen2",ChangeAIScript("SBTxxx",RACE))"

edit: Yes I do have RoT installed.

well i did installed the one, and i deleted the strings which caused compiling errors to appear, and there appears to be two jaheira and minsc... but everything goes fine other than that.

umm. do you mean ar0602.bcs? or the other one that needs to be corrected before installation of RoT?
well, I'm sure the last one won't work, cuz i went whole lot of trouble after that... so i'll post up my ar0602.bcs. I think it 'might' solve your problem too. afterall we had same issues...so it must be the solution for now.

make sure to copy and backup your original somewhere safe ar0602.bcs just in case.

But there remain some other questions:
Can this canged file AR0602.bcs also be used with other mod combinations? Maybe, someone doesn't want to install one of these mods, for example NEJ. Will this file still work? You know, I want to describe an exact installation order in my upcoming guidance.

Wouldn't it be better to make changes directly to the mods?
What causes this problem? Why did this problem never happend with earlier installations?

I have also tried Whiteraven's file, but it didn't work for me; no Minsc and no Jaheira in the cages, and no Imoen appears.

hmm perhaps i posted wrong one... gonna check. this modifying thing has been confusing me too much this week.

just to add, i used Azazello's ver., deleting those lines causing errors i mentioned in posting above, and worked fine(except duplicating jaheira and minsc).

and no, i don't have NEJ installed.. and got out of dungeon just fine.

See if this will work for you. You'll need to rename it though.

You were missing the continue() after the FR_ROV block in AR0602.bcs. I think there is an updated version here: http://rapidshare.co...FR___ROV_v4.rar

hie, this is gettin me crazy.
already reinstalled the full game with all the mods 7 times, and always get error with ROT.
i begin new game everytime i finish installin each mod, and when i start new game after installin ROT , in SoA, irenicus don appear and my char is not layin on the ground inside the jail, nothin happens, i read all the posts about it an the ar602.bcs | .baf , tar0602 bar0602 etc etc and still everyone is postin diferent things about how to fix it so i don know what to do.

do i have to select re-install in setup-rot.exe after changin the tar0602 and bar0602 files? ,
do i have to change the bcs in over.bak folder?
do i have to do this in a clean install of the soa-tob or its ok with reinstallin the mod? ... this is frustatin ^^
i know u are tryin ur best to help ppl, so its ok, if someone have same prob as me and can post what did he exactly do to fix it i would apreciate it :)
and a last question, i saved the game after irenicus cutscene b4 installin RoT, its ok if i load it after install RoT and keep playin? or i need to start a new game for the mod to be active? thx in advance :)

The confusion in this thread is due to players, who are not fully familiar with the megainstall, posting what they think is the cause and solutions to their and other people's problems. And let's do mention that their installations were probably buggy to begin with.

The solutions, the ones that actually work, have been consistent.
I have not read one new issue/solution presented here.

In truth, people have not followed the instructions (mainly because they don't understand them), or simply have not done them and have waited for erebusant to fix their problems manually. Not a good long term solution...

Perhaps the first Post should be edited to, once again, explain how the transition issues can be resolved. I know that seanas is busy, so can we get another moderator to clean it up--or perhaps better, insert a header in it that summarizes the fixes. The actual fixes. Then we can keep the first post updated as needed.

i managed to get it "work" but now the game closes after imoen releases me from the jail xDD, i give up for now, hope it get fixed someday.

I don't know why this problem occurred now and not in the past. I did notice that the RoT cutscene was not included in your list. That was very strange. Also, there were two or more Continue() missing.

This 'corrected' ar0602 should only be used as a reference, to compare future installations that might have problems, check to see what changed.

For more exact installations, I have several custom changes to several mod files. Let me review your megainstall thread and I'll send them to you later. I don't want to post them here, as this thread is already too long.

Just an FYI on the CD2 problem Rubberduck had. CD 2 is the Copy protection CD for BG2. I ran into this problem once when I installed BG2 from my backup set of CD's. The install goes fine but the CD copy protection Fails everytime the game does this check, which it always does at the start of a new game. I ended up having to reinstall using my backup disks except CD2 I had to use the original. Afterwards everything worked just fine. This may or may not be his problem but it's the only time I've ever run into it myself. It also helps to start a new game immediately after installing the full bg2 + TOB + official patch. This will usually confirm the install and do the CD check. I usually let immy get me out of the cell and save the game at that point. With a validated game in the save directory the CD Copy protection check is usually bypassed.

ok, i'm trying to collect all the situations where the BG2 transition/ BG2 new game fails - and that way, we can get them fixed :) .

as far as i can see, there are currently three cases:

where BG2 Fixpack minus the Super Happy Fun Lucky Modder pack, plus BGT is installed.
(...)
where BG2 Fixpack and RoT is installed.
(...)
where FR/ROV is installed:
(...)
have i missed any other situations that cause the transition/ new game sequence to hang?



May I ask if all that issues are gone with newest versions? Such a still pinned thread is a little puzzling to me and so maybe to others new to here as well.

Hi All,

 

Not sure if this is the best place to put this query, but I keep having a issue when I either transition with BGT from BG1  to BG2 or when I create a new character straight into BG2 (not an imported ToB charcter file) that when I have RoT installed I get the first RoT cs before Irenicus appears therefore the first main story cs doesnt begin, hence I'm stuck in the cage.

 

Stupidly I just uninstalled the game to test another theory so cant give you any logging files etc,

 

I installed the following in this order,

 

Bg2 Fixpack

TDD,

SoS

CtB

RoT

BGT

 

Took the order from BWP pdf.

 

Any ideas or do you need my log?

Well, it's preferable if you allow the BWS to do the install on it's own, but technically you can install the BWP Fixpack before the BG2 Fixpack...
