1) Why do you want to travel with a Bhaalspawn? What's your motivation?
2) Do you know that you look a lot like a certain elven archer? Are you willing to undergo a plastic surgery, so that people would not confuse you with him?
3) Do you usually go along well with other people, or are you a conflict-maker?

Also, he grew up in Athkatla and was orphaned in his early teens (thus forced to street life) - as such, he doesn't have strong ties with traditional halfling society.Sure, you can count on it.Something about halfing culture? I know nothing about it.

This second portrait is very nice. 
If you don't know who the author is (and you can't use it for this reason), perhaps you could ask Illmatar, Amaurea or another artist for a new one.
Anyway, my new suggestions:

"Have you ever heard something about Aran Linvail?" (In chapter three, when teh party works for Shadow Thieves Master)
"What do you think of Athkatla?"
"Let's drink something." (In a tavern, of course)
"Hey, Stivan. Have you seen that seagull?"

As suggestion i can say that he should talk about his size....
(i mean if he is an halfling is small)
he can have this chat with the potagonist and some of the party
(for example.... Anomen: go away before i override u little one)
