Look at index of the pdf-guide if you do not want to scroll. Or have a look at the BWS, do a custom install and look at the mods there. You can also search, have a look at the descriptions, types, sizes and so on.

By the way, this is OT, you should open a thread to keep this clean.

Well the easiest way would be to select all the text here, copy them and paste them to a .txt file and then remove all the unnecessary info, but that needs finger work, which TJHoenecke might not want to do, but he really should. But as it is... download this.

Heya Great work on the guide mate!!!

I was wondering whether the list could mention the li'l change-log.bat that comes with the newer BWP InstallPacks, it makes creating the changelog rather easy if ya can't remember the syntax to enter (You only need the name of the file to be "changelogged" )

I dunno about Vista compatibility, but XP can run it flawlessly

Done. It works in Vista too, and the wall of text is the same list I attached to the post #22.

Well, personally, I have never used the M-I T... and I have my doubts that it can be used to already modified game, so the copy-paste_modify_the_baldur.ini_and_use_the_BGMain.exe system is safer... and I can use the same CD2, CD3, CD4 and CD5 references in the baldur.ini to save space... and I am never going to use the M-I T. And because it first comes to mind, doesn't mean it's the best^TM.

And if some one wishes to copy his moded game, and then restore it as clean using backup, I already gave the link.

Yeah, but it doesn't give any knowledge it's based upon... and the links has more direct approach to the issue if it 'already exists', and you don't have the backup.

Now, any comments on the historical accuracy of the point #8 would be welcome...

I have not done BWS install in W7 yet... but I got W7 so I am actually currently researching the subject, and helping the Finnish member(Goatsepupu), in a PM I am about to send.
Yes, 'research' includes installing the BWS on the new OS.
Posted the new extended FAQ... yes every other answer needed to be moved but the first, so now all post I posted in the Mega Mod Help forum are intentionally pointing to the wrong question/answer.

Why are you claiming that it's necessary to disable UAC? In Windows 7, you get an elevation prompt when the install needs admin rights, and as long as you press "Yes", everything works fine.

Yeah we could do what you say, but are you going to be able to reproduce all the code every software instance runs in the BWS, just so you can reinsert that code to the cmd.exe promp after you click the yes...
Then you wouldn't need the BWS at all!

Yes, I once tried what you said... just after I had my computer upgraded to Win7, and the first thing it crashed to was trying to recode the .ogg files as .wav/c's. Try do that by hand, without the skill to code the .bat ... and you are in ...

Yes, you see, you need to re-insert the exact code the program was inserting before it was cut off from the controls by the UAC, for programs(.bats) it's easy as they are previously programmed to do so, but for humans it's not, as the cmd.exe doesn't even have a single line backup memory when a .bat runs it.

Any other comments?

first of all, thanks for awesome tools for megamod installing. having read the whole pdf through (for 3 times already i suppose) i imagine what enormous work is done. before exploring BWP i could hardly install ten or so mods without messing something up, because there is much to investigate on terms of installation order and compatibility. anyway, the instrustions are clear and installation and even editing batch file isn't that difficult if one has enough time and patience to examine the process.
at the moment i'm waiting for my fifth install to complete. all the previous ones were something different from what i desired for this or that reasons. from the first set of more than 120 mods the list has shortened to 55 "essential" ones which is supposed to be my "minimal install". but nevertheless i have some slowdown problems and for that reason i'm posting this reply.

as far as i understand it is not connected with my NVidia GeForce 5200 as there are no graphical problems. moreover my attempts to lower graphics didn't solve the problem.
i suppose that it is something to deal with scripts and global variables as my PC is 90-100% busy with bgmain.exe. but i have no better idea than installing lesser nubmer of mods. so any advice might be helpful and keenly appreciated.

Let's just make clear, this my FAQ has no direct connection to the BiG World Project.pdf, but, it's linked to it as it instructs a few things that are good to know even if you don't use the .pdf files, or any of the BiG World Products.

I've thoroughly read (twice) your tips on avoiding troubles and solving slowdown problems but nevertheless the game slows in the following way:

Hmm, well, as you have read the instructions twice, have you done any of the instructed fixes? Were they my FAQ, or the BWP.pdf? Yeah, well what ever.

It's more likely that you have a few mods(2%) that cause >80% of the slowdown, and it would be good for you and for everyone else to identify the cause, with the instructions in my FAQs the answer 5, point 20.1, yes the mod I give you will temporary prevent you from continuing the game, but you can always uninstall it after you have found the reason why the game bugs, and when you receive the files you need from the reporting the bug in the Mega Mod Help forum, you just need to put those to the override folder and you can then continue the game... unless you have to uninstall another previously installed mod... and yes, the LStest mod might take a lot of time to install, (less than 2 hours though), but it uninstall really fast.

This thread is fine... the BiG World Install.bat has been changed since the v8.2 came out, potentially 1000 times. It's just more updated model of the previously 'flovly' documented version that the v8.2 was. Flovly as in 'Fully as far as we remembered', so there can be a lot of old info that has no baring on the current state of things.
