I am getting constant lockups if i wield "excellent" type weapons, also some other magic weapons make the game lock up completely. Like the serpent staff +3 that drops from Mommy in Beregost.

Please, open a new topic and describe your problem a little bit more. What do you mean with lock up? Crashs your game to desktop? If yes, post in your new topic your content of your baldur.err. And don't forget to post your WeiDU.log. You find both files in your BG2 main directory.

I am using the v8.2 but the setup stops, there is a popup with the request to post the error on the 193 forum. But I saw that Souledge had the same problem with the 8.1 version. The BWS trace says:

I did not understand the answer to the posting of Souledge so does anybody have a clue what went wrong or how I can find out what was the problem?

Are you still using BWS 8.2? That's oudated, BWP 8.3 is launched and you need the new BWS

The install-package has not changed since 8.2.
BWS 8.2 just fetches an update-package to make itself ready for 8.3.
So my guess is that your connection to the internet ran into a timeout or you were not connected so that the update was not fetched, since the fix to this error was created some time ago.

Best way to go on is to not resume the installation, let the BWS fetch the update-package, let the BWS restart itself and start again.

Depending on your selection-method before, you could either select a pre-selection like before or you go into the mod-selection-screen, choose to reload your settings and have a look at the new mods listed in the BWP 8.3-thread.

Since the successful downloads will not be fetched again, it will not take that much time to go through the downloads.
