I. OVERVIEW

This mod adds a pack mule to the game. It will follow your party around and carry your equipment for you. To access the mule's inventory, talk to it and select appropriate option. The mule will try to avoid combat. However, it will defend itself if forced to. It cannot die. When badly injured, the mule will escape the area of combat and return when it's safe.
If you ever lose your pack mule (or you forget where you left it), you can use the "Call your pack mule" special ability. You can also use it to summon the mule into places where it wouldn't normally follow you (inside buildings, sewers and other such areas).

IMPORTANT NOTE: The game will not recognize items the mule carries as being in party possession.

You can buy the mule from a guy named Stedd, who can be found near the northeast exit of Waukeen's Promenade or in the courtyard of the Friendly Arm Inn (if you are playing Tutu or BGT, or BGEE). Haggle with Stedd to buy the mule at the best possible price. If you start a new game in ToB, the pack mule will be waiting for you in the starting area.

In the mule's spell menu, you can find three abilities you can use quickly to give orders to your pack mule. Those abilities are:
- Follow: this orders the mule to follow your party around
- Stop following: the mule stops following your party but will move with you to the next area
- Stay: the pack mule will become a neutral character (making it unselectable); it won't follow you and won't move to the next area until you talk to it and change this order


II. INSTALLATION AND UNINSTALLATION

Install this mod after any mods that add outdoor or dungeon areas to the game.

To install the Pack Mule mod, extract the archive content to your game's main directory and run "install-w_packmule.exe".
To reinstall or uninstall the mod, run "install-w_packmule.exe" again.


III. KNOWN ISSUES

Sometimes the pack mule's shadow can face other directions than the mule.

If I understand the mechanics correctly this mod will help reduce game slowdown. Items will not be in inventory.

What's his creature code ? So I can try this mod with officially unsupported Total Conversion mods, via the Console... :D
Mods like Classic Adventure, Icewind Dale in BG2 ... :whistling:

(this is normally "C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\") and run "Setup-W_PackMule.exe".

"this is by default..." Why the difference ? Because the Windows Vista and 7 really hate you...

In case the BG2 game crashes post the content of your baldur.err file. To get it to record stuff, open up the 'baldur.ini' in your game folder with Notepad, and under the [Program Options] section in the file, make a new line and type in 'Logging On=1' (without the '' quotes, unless the line is already there)... Save the file and exit. Now go back into the game and try to reproduce the crash. Then look in your game folder again for the Baldur.err file and open it with the Notepad to analyze its contents, or let us do it.

It's "w_mule" and "w_pwrang". If you have any of those TC currently installed you might as well give me the area code and xy coordinates for locations you think it would be good to place those two (the mule, Stedd) and I'll add those TC to the "supported" list.

Oh, after acquiring the mule this way try to kill it, or else it won't have a shadow.

Well let me first say thank you.

Now the Classic Adventures mod has a plot twist that should probably remove the mole for a while, but I suggest that if you really want to deal with it, you should probably talk to leahnkain or Sir BillyBob about that... but if you wish to have a place, I suggest that you put the seller and the mule to the "TC0025" area, at (x,y)'s that are (227,2084) and (170,2114)... it's about here, the green circles:

That's the second town in the TC and the prime location for a lot of quests starts and ends, so it suits quite well.
About the plot twist, this is a spoiler, so don't read it if you don't wish to have spoilers... :

The Icewind Dale in BG2 the place most suited is probably the second town(Kuldahar) too, in front of the potters hose, so the area code is "AR2100", at (x,y)'s that are (2037,1723) and (2085, 1690), they are near here:

I translated this funny mod in italian language but I got a problem when I tried to test it in my game.

I installed Infinity Animations and then Pack Mule mod, but when I enter in AR0700 or in AR6800 in BGT (where should be the Mule and Stedd) the game after 10/15 seconds CTD!!
After some tests, I noticed that the game CTD when it tries to create the mule:
CreateCreature("W_MULE",[90.1235],0)

What do you think is the problem? It seem as the "animation" is not installed, but "Infinity Animations" mod and "W-PackMule" are "successfully installed"!!!
PS: I've installed BGTrilogy!

After some attempts with NE I noticed that my problem is "PACK_MULE_WOW - 21139", because if I change animation the game works well (I tried with "Pirate").

Can anyone help me? Posted Image
