Sorry for my prolonged absence all. Checked in tonight, and figured I'd clear up some rumors that have apparently popped up in my absence.

1) The circumstances of my demise have indeed been greatly exaggerated. In fact, things have been quite good. I'm recently gainfully employed again, so, woohoo.

2) Thanks kindly for the very kind condolences from several of you while it was still thought to be real :)

3) I did not 'ragequit' in any way, I was just a bit burned out after almost 2 years of constant modding and needed some time away to look for said employment, among other things. (Incidentally, I'm amused at all the comments about my supposed previous "ragequit" and making some massive deal over my signature back on the codex - apparently, returning some flames for a period of about four (4) hours on a single morning and then never going back or even ever really thinking about it again amounts to me making a -really big deal- about it. Whatever. Oh, and there was never anything even remotely similar to a "ragequit" - not even a little bit of rage or the tiniest bit of quit - over the Dragon Age fixpack conflict with that other modder, the slight and brief drama of which lasted something less than an hour. I think there's a lot of people around who have a lot higher appetite for drama than me, since they seem to be desperately trying to see it everywhere on the flimsiest pretext. Again, whatever.

4) The Qwinn over at npboards, in the post that Daulmakan found to confirm that I'm not actually dead, is in fact me. I do still post over there ocassionally, so if there's ever any doubt about such a thing again, yeah, you can confirm I'm still alive by looking for me there. And thanks for clearing that up, Daulmakan.

5) I apologize for not having responded to the handful of emails I've received. Far as I can tell, there are apparently outstanding issues involving the Chinese version of the executable, and running the mod under Linux. Both of those issues would have to be handled by someone other than me, unfortunately (scient in the former, and maybe one of you guys on the Linux thing?) Once a solution has been found for both, I'm sure I can find time to tweak the installer to accomodate the changes, so someone feel free to send me an email when that's ready. I'll find a weekend somewhere along the line to make those changes and re-upload the mods.

6) Other than that, I've gotta focus on the new job for a bit, and my modding batteries are still recharging anyway. Again, I apologize for not taking care of the mods as of late, and that will continue for a bit, but I am sure that in time I'll return to update both this and my Dragon Age fixpack. Put too much sweat into 'em over the years to ever abandom them totally, I think. Well, until I really -do-, ya know, die :P

7) I really appreciate all the efforts of those who've stepped up and tried helping those who are having problems during my absence. You guys rock.

Anyways, hope at least some of you are still enjoying my previous efforts (and those of scient as well, of course) :)

Qwinn please see this topic:
http://www.shsforums...8732-ddraw-fix/

I'm one of the guys in with the linux bug (but it is likely a fixpack bug since the original works), though i haven't yet tested the fix for that - maybe i will today.

i30817:

You seriously fixed the spell graphic glitches? Massive kudos, man. Yes, I'd love to get that in the fixpack (with full attribution, of course) on my next pass. That's huge.

How does it work? Is it a patch to the regular executable, or to the widescreen mod, or what? Sorry, don't have time to look into it myself at the moment.

As I understand it aqrit's fix disables ddraw acceleration specifically for torment.exe and then it makes it behave in full screen the same way it would behave in windowed mode, thus eliminating the cursor trail issue. The patch is applied on the executable. It doesn't need the widescreen mod, but If you want to use the widescreen mod you need to install the fix afterwards.

So maybe it should be added to the widescreen mod and make installation of it mandatory?

Or maybe fix the widescreen mod so that the fix works before - from the tread, aqrit seemed surprised and thought that the mod was doing something "wrong".

I also tested the other linux fix and it worked for straight resting if i edited the exe right after the fixpack install (i kinda remember from long ago that it didn't if i edited after the fixpack, tweak and unfinished bussiness, i can try it now).

...
but didn't work for dialog resting like mcbeth or arlo's inn.

Hey Qwinn, good to hear that you're doing well! I'm looking into the linux issue on wine atm and will let you know what to update in EngineFixes.tph. Prob good idea to make a minor release like 4.11 update once I finish. I think I see problem, friend is trying to get PST running on Fedora for me so I can do some more testing. So far, no luck. :x

Well, I've been very busy with various things in life and other RCE projects outside of bug fixing. Just needed a break from everything. Also, I've been fairly busy working on Alpha Centauri trying to get new release out soon with a lot of fixes and such. I'm only going to sort the bug related to resting and morale (ie. linux wine crash) for now then go back to smac/x. Maybe when Qwinn is in mood to start working on PST again, I will as well. I will make a point to check SHS more often that I have, I don't think I've logged in for like a year. :x

Heh, yah I know. I did look at a few posts here from time to time, just never logged in. i30817 has kept me up to date on various topics regarding linux/ddraw patch on CGN. My desktop PC is dead at the moment but I'll def be interested to try out aqrit patch with my 9800 GT vs the nvidia fix. For now I'm stuck on crappy laptop with ATI 200m which has zero graphics issues running PST.

As for GOG, yah I already plan on posting it there as well as on reddit and maybe 1-2 other sites outside of standard CGN/WPC/CivF/Poly for exposure sake. I've coded a Nullsoft installer to do various changes to game since it's not just two exe files anymore so that's pretty nice improvement. Once I've finished up solving/coding a few things I want to sort before releasing patch: air-air/air psi combat, COMMFREQ (mostly done), Flechette fixes (mostly done), automated artillery freeze, and maybe couple minor things. Overall, it should be a pretty nice update, just if I can find time to finish it. :P
