I'm encountering an odd problem: I have the BG1 DVD 1-disc version, and I get the setup screen just fine. When I hit "Install", the screen disappears and nothing happens. I've tried manually running it from the English Setup on the disc as well as the autorun, and I get the same results.

My specs:

Windows Vista 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8600 @2.40 GHz
4 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9800M GS
188 GB free on disc

...

You are installing without Antivirus protection and not into the "Program Files (x86)"-folder, right ?

I'm not getting that far. I get the autorun screen with the grey stone texture and Sarevok's mug, hitting "Install", then nothing happens.

I've been able to install BG2 and ToB without problems.

I've played around with my antivirus settings (I use Avast antivirus), including turning it off and then trying to install, but I get the same problem. Autorun screen pops up no problem, click install, nothing happens - the screen goes away and nothing more.

You might want to try this out:

I FIGURED IT OUT! just restart your computer and hold F8 as it reboots. this will give you the option to run in Safe Mode. Boot up in safe mode and install the game like normal and it should work. I just did it and it's running just fine. just be sure to restart after so that you are no longer in Safe Mode. you can mess stuff up in there if you aren't careful

Interesting. Sounds like that will work, but I'll probably leave it for when I boot up my computer tomorrow morning. :)

I fixed it and got BG1 installed, but not the way that answer said - I had to close my web browser first for some odd reason. BG1 seems to interact very oddly with Google Chrome, and I have no idea why.

Glad you could work it out.

Might I suggest you change your OS? :P
