Hello, newbie here.

Well maybe I came a little late to the modding scene, but I've been recently interested in BGT. However, I'm also interested in other mods like BG 1 Unfinished Business and BG 1 Fix Pack, etc.

After googling for clues, I got the impression that one should install BG 1 mods first before installing BGT, because BGT brings BG 1 content into BG 2 engine. So you have to complete all the contents (BG 1 plus mods) before bringing them to BG 2 engine.

However, when downloading the latest version of BG 1 Unfinished Business, it is said that the mod is WeiDU-compatible. On the other hand, BGT is also WeiDU-compatible. So can I install BG 1 Unfinished Business after installing BGT?

Or should I install BG 1 mods first before installing BGT?

Many thanks.

Google is stupid... DO NOT DO that ! If you want the Bg1 mods in the BGT, you search for the BGT version of the same mod, and install that to the BG2 directory.

However, when downloading the latest version of BG 1 Unfinished Business, it is said that the mod is WeiDU-compatible. On the other hand, BGT is also WeiDU-compatible.

Actually there's no point in that, as the most recent version of BGT is a Weidu mod... as the program that installs it is the WeiDU.exe renamed as setup-modname.exe ...

o can I install BG 1 Unfinished Business after installing BGT?

You need to, actually... but first go ans install the BG2Fixpack to the BG2 game, then install the BGT and then the BG1 mods(the BGT versions of them), then the BG2 mods ...
Little hint on where to search the BGT versions ... here.

I see, thanks for the reply, Jarno. I actually got my cues from here; that's why I got the impression that one should install BG 1 mods first. It seems the clue is outdated though.

I still got questions, however, if you don' mind:

(1) I'm interested in the following mods:
- Tales of the Sword Coast Text Update
- Fix Pack
- BG1 Unfinished Business
- BG2 Tweak Pack
- BG1 NPC Project
- Banter Pack
- Gibberlings 3 widescreen mod
In case there a mod that doesn't have BGT version, can I still install them? And what if it happens to be a BGT 1 mod? Should I install the particular mod first, or BGT first?

(2) is there any mandatory or highly recommended mod that I miss?

(3) Which mods take precedence before other mods? For example, you mentioned about installing Fix Pack before installing BGT. What mods should I install first before installing BGT?

(4) what installation steps would you recommend regarding BGT?

Thanks again,

I just realized I swapped BG1UB and BG1NPC :P

It's recommended to install BG1NPC first

I see, thanks!

Anyway, any other mods to recommend?

Also, regarding to the BGT installation itself, should I need to install Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 in other than C:\Program Files\ ? My Baldur's Gate is this version, by the way.

Any special notes? Thanks again.

Historically, people have suggested installing Baldur's Gate I + TotSC into a simple place like C:\baldur. I have maintained that this should not be required, but someone always seems to have their installation catch-up with the reason of installing in the Program Files (x86) directory being blamed.
Anywhere should do for Baldur's Gate II + ToB.
Don't forget to turn of User Account Control.
