After you log in and click on the Reply to this topic, it should change a bit, but that's not it, it's actually through from here:

It takes you to the main reply view where you can among other things attach files and disable emoticons, signature etc

Doh! I somehow completely looked over that button. Here is the quick save I was using. if you would like the rest of my saves just let em know.

To keep playing I edited the ini to enable debug mode and teleported my self tot he road south of Beregost. so I'm back to playing again. Is there really anything that important to the storyline in the city? Could I just ignore it altogether?

If the game crashes when loading Beregost for the very first time, usually it means something is wrong with the Beregost files themselves, rather than a saved game problem.

You can ignore Beregost, shouldn't be a problem with that.
