Hello! I'm attempting to install the UI mod to the GOG version for Mac (OS X Yosemite version 10.10). I've previously installed Bigg's Widescreen Mod.

When running the UI mod setup through Wine it gets about this far and then stops:

pst-ui.png

And this is the content of the SETUP-GHOSTDOG'S-PST-UI.DEBUG file:

WeiDU v 23100 Log

 Setup-GhostDog's-PST-UI.exe
 version = 23200
Newest WeiDU is version 23200, updating!
WeiDU files in version order:
  [setup-widescreen.exe] version 23200
  [setup-ddrawfix.exe] version 23200
  [Setup-GhostDog's-PST-UI.exe] version 23100
[setup-widescreen.exe] loaded, 949760 bytes
Copying [setup-widescreen.exe] -> [Setup-GhostDog's-PST-UI.exe]: false

... and this is the content of SETUP-WIDESCREEN.DEBUG:

WeiDU v 23200 Log

 setup-widescreen.exe

Any ideas on this? Thanks for the help!

Don't run Windows-WeiDU on WIne (you may be able to, but it is entirely unsupported). WeiDU is available natively for OS X, here.

Sorry for the murmur question, but is this the case even when the original game is the "Windows Native" version ? :lol:

As I think that could be the case here.

My advise is to ericcarl would be to manually update the weidu.exe's(that are the setup-*modname*.exe"s). To do that, one just detetes all the setup-*modname*.exe"s and then get's the latest weidu's Windows Binaries from the above link, then extract it to the game directory, copy it there a few times and then rename the copies to be the setup-*modname*.exe ... but that's only if the original game is Windows native !

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to help Wisp and The Imp, I appreciate it. You may have to put up with my ignorance for a moment though as I'm pretty unfamiliar with all of this.

The Imp, I'm having a hard time following your instructions. I've downloaded the Windows binary of WeiDU and extracted it into the Planescape folder. Note that I'm on a Mac, so I'm right-clicking the application, selecting "Show Package Contents", then placing the files in "drive_c/GOG Games/Planescape Torment".

After that step your instructions say "copy it there a few times". What exactly do I need to copy?

Thanks for the help!

Just the weidu.exe, nothing else, but multiple times:

Start folder:

2sabj9e.jpg

After extracting:

23w04zn.jpg

After the copying:

2u6p64z.jpg

End result after renaming the files:

24zzxmx.jpg

OK, so I used already existing files to take the last picture, so it kinda lies about the dates on the setup-modname.exe -files.

One thing: if you want to use generalized_biffing or any other mod that creates biffs on your Windows version of the game, use the Windows version of WeiDU, but if it's for any other mod, use the OSX WeiDU (same if you want to biff something in a Mac version of the game (like the Enhanced Editions), use the OSX one, and completely forget about the Windows version).

Otherwise you'll turn the chitin.key into confetti :D

Have you checked that recently?
As of whatever version, non-PPC versions of WeiDU should be equivalent in how they handle key files, regardless of OS (as only the PPC version of BG uses a different format).

Isn't that sort of what I said? There is unequivocally, absolutely no circumstance whatsoever where running WeiDU on Wine is supported (by me; I don't care what others do and don't try to support).

@Crevs Daak:

I think ... Wisp here is talking about the need to do it with weidu v23500 and/or after versions, cause there's a traced error in v23200 with the bif'fing, which was fixed in v23500. Which made the windows version of .bif's bad too...
Isn't that sort of what I said?
Well... I see it now, and admit my defeat. Given the earlier portion of the reply. :D :waves hands: Cause if the files wouldn't be the exact same, the end product would look a lot different with the two, but apparently it's not so...

Read the end's of the sentences as more of a proportional explanations of my thinking in the start... :devil:

Actually, the fix I'm thinking of was in 237.

It has to do with Windows using \ instead of / for directories or folders… It causes your chitin.key to get corrupt (which is an overkill unless you know how to fix it,manually (replacing all the (back)slahes with a Hexadecimal editor for example), or by uninstalling the mod) when you use the opposite version of WeiDU (Windows vs OSX). See this image for comparison between Mac OSX BG:EE's (left) chitin.key and a heavily modded BGT (right), besides the different amount and names on the .bifs, their paths are specified differently with / and \.

Sorry, just so I'm clear, is this the problem that Wisp said is fixed in 237? Meaning, is this problem fixed?

(I just got the GOG OS X version of TOB, want to make sure I'm doing things right when I mod it - so can I use Generalized Biffing with Mac Weidu 237? ToBEx too?)
