Hey everyone. The cryostasis is over. So, the maximum number of summoned creatures, how does that work? And for which side? If that limit is reached by the party, can enemies still summon minions?

Enemies don't care what has been summoned, nearly all of them are actually summons of various sources.
The player is limited to summon 5 Gender 6 .cre's(which by default is named as "Summoned"). And in the EE games you can raise the limit to an amount you please, via the summlimt.2da .The gender tag does more too, for example there's multiple instant kill effects in spells that target that tag.

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Also 1 gated summon, I think...? Dunno how those work.

I know you can bypass those with wild magic bursts, though. So you can end up with six planetars or something.

Well, it's the "avatar"... aka Deva's and Solar's, fallen and legit. Gated means Demons&Devils, of which there are no limits as they get summoned hostile... without special moding added. And then there's mods that of course just remove the summon limit via changing the Gender tag of the creatures from 6 to be 20, like the one PPG mod I forgot the name of which. It changes the death effects to also kill the gender 20 tagged creatures.

Ouh, and you can also have one Familiar. besides the 5 summons and 1 avatar. Or something...

Yes, yes. Thank you all. What I'd like to know is whether it's possible to separate creatures who are actually summoned, and better yet extraplanars specifically, from native demons and angels in their home dimension - in the several out-of-this-world areas we get to visit? This would make a difference for Abjuration spells and Protection from Evil. Obviously SUMMONED_DEMON was made just for this last to be useful. Those creatures aren't summoned when met in the Abyss or the Nine Hells... somehow we never get to go to places like Mount Celestia, just to hell holes, why?... so they shouldn't be subject to protections, banishments and holy words there.

Well, if you like, you can add a script extension to the existing creature scripts that auto-casts a counter spells to the effects in certain areas ... or provide them with immunity via item or what you have.

But really, the game features so few of that kind of areas that it's really not worth much.

Dorn has to visit something like Mount Celestia in his " Bhaal-Throne-Adventure".

Whazzat?

All things considered, I'd probably go with protection from creature type - race - demonic for those spells...

Beamdog made a map populated with good souls, devas and other good creatures to shake hands with Dorn or something like that. No spoilers ahead, hoping so.

So this is upcoming. Well, I hope they put some soul in it. The place is described as quite beautiful, they could at least try to make it such.
