1)Main effects

This component alters Imoen's "starting files", so it takes effect when you pick her up
in Irenicus' Dungeon, recover her in Spellhold, or summon her in ToB from the fate spirit.
With the exception of the first case, she comes with 5 mage levels and an undone level-up,
so you can decide to preserve that next weapon proficiency for a better future use (when
you have enough XPs to reactivate the swashbuckler class at once).
So, if you already surpassed that 5th level in Chapter 1, you get another chance!
After all, she gets lobotomized, sort of :)

2)Why and What

Why turn Imoen into a Swashbuckler/Mage?
Because it is a more fitting type of thief for her: more charming, more stylish, and most
importantly one that doesn't learn how to backstab (*that* would be really unfitting given
the story of the main characters!).
On top of this, she should be more fun to play, and slightly more useful in combat.
What are the changes, exactly?

-Starting XPs: They are now 161,000 XPs at the start (end of BG1 + TotSC.)
This means that she starts as a Swashbuckler - exactly at level 10 - immediately dualled
to mage.
She won't really be much help in Irenicus' Dungeon (actually this may make it more interesting,
but hey, she still has Magic Missile!!:D)

-She now has a CORRECT number of points in her thieving abilities. The ones she already
knew have been increased a little, Detect Illusion has been left at zero (well, zero means
zero...). The main difference is in Set Traps. She *can* now try to use them! After all, she
can find and disarm them so well already..

-Weapon proficiencies have been left with a generic distribution. Using future mage-points,
she can play a "stereotypical" dual-wielding swashbuckler (sword and dagger?), or decide to
aim for the traditional Staff of the Magi + Short Bow combo.
But this time she can specialize.

-When rescued at Spellhold, she'll have less XPs compared to the orginal game, and she
will have lost the spells learnt before (this also happens in the normal game).
Bring some scrolls ;)
Imoen still receives a boost in XPs, for the torture and experience she went through but not
as large as in the original game.

Ever forward, my darling wind...

Looks good. Long swords and daggers would be an appropriate combination of weapons for a swashbuckler. Shame there are so few decent daggers in the game.

OOooooh! Sounds good.
But let me just clear something up, when you get her in Irenicus' dungeon, she will be lvl 10 swashbuckler and lvl 1 mage, am I right? And then when you get her in the asylum she will be lvl10/lvl5? or is she just a lvl 10 swashbuckler in irenicus' dungeon?

She is level 10/5 in spellhold, with that undone level up, so players may use it at will. Her actual amount of XPs will vary depending on your level, as normal, even though all the values for her have been lowered.

I expect her to be quite fun and effective (especially with Rogue Rebalancing Mod), but still she will need some time and patience.
At start you'll really lack her abilities if you're not a thief yourself, and you will have to find some other ways to deal with Irenicus' traps...
(I mean, it's not that everytime we get imprisoned, we HAPPEN to have all the needed means to evade, right? :D :P )

<Charname> Minsc?
<Minsc> Yes?
<Charname> You see that trap over there? The one with the skull painted on it?
<Minsc> Yes
<Charname> Go and trigger it would you?

But what about in the starting dungeon? What levels will she have?

10/1,
Sorry, I thought it was evident from the doc ;)

Practically she's a mage level 1......
IIRC I just gave her magic missile :D

Well its what I assumed, but I wanted to clear it up. And how about adding chromatic orb to that? I like that spell - dunno why

Do you plan to ensure compatibility with Lord Mirrabbo`s Imoen romance mod?

Frankly, no: I'll be active in this regard when Quitch will do his version of Imoen.
*That* said, likely it is compatible already.
This component alters just her CRE files, while a "romance" mod should alter her scripts and dialog files: I don't think it would have valid reasons to change file names or references.

In truth this component also requires the Revised HLAs System (since an issue raised by this version of Imoen happens to be solved by the Use Scrolls scripting engine), but again, I don't see what might clash here.
(one never knows, of course).

I'll be the first to say that Lord Mirrabo's Imoen romance mod is an atrocious interpretation of her character. Any self-respecting Baldur's Gate 2 fan should stay away from it if they value their sanity. Far away.

I have never played the mod myself yet, since I`ve been waiting for the ToB version to be released as well, but from what I`ve seen, I seriously think it is a well done mod. I won`t be quick to judge it, but I can`t wait for the ToB release so I`m going to start playing it today.

And, while I don`t know how Imoen`s character was actually portraid, it seems to be one of the best worked out mods ever created and there is no way anyone can convince me otherwise.
