What is the WEIDU version of BGT? The BP-BGT-NEJ, BP-BGT, etc are not WEIDU right? Does that mean ppl are working on something that will make the BGT less buggy and more compatible with other mods?

Yes. Read the topics on BGT-Weidu .99.

BGT-WeiDU 0.99 BETA 3 is the current version of the WeiDU version of BGT. It is already a huge way less buggy and much more compatible with other mods than the old BGT installation. Do put you in the loop, there has been a huge move towards 'WeiDU-ising' the Big Picture mods so that they are much easier to mod and bugfix. WeiDU versions of TDD, SoS, and TS are available, and a BP-WeiDU is under development. The current nomenclature for distinguishing the non-WeiDU and WeiDU installs is BP(-BGT[-NeJ]) for the classic manual/auto-installer installation, and BP(-BGT[-NeJ])-WeiDU for the newly developed versions. No, cross-compatibility is not an option, that is, WeiDU versions of the BP mods are NOT compatible with the non-WeiDU versions and vice versa.

Hope that helps.

Something seems amiss. I need some clarifications on the install of BGT-Weidu. The install guide says not to have any BG disks in any drive during the install because this will cause exceptions. The installer would not allow me to continue without a disk in the drive, and, of course, exceptions ocurred. I've got at least three corrupted files that I know of and I was unable to install any of SBB's mods or KD's Baldurdash-Weidu. Other than that, things seem to play smoothly. Can someone please clarify the BGT-Weidu install procedure so that I can reinstall this beasty and then add in the other material?

Sounds like a full install wasn't listed as successful in BG1. That is the only reason I think why the installer would even want to check the CD drive at all. Can you detail the exact wording of the 'error' and the exact point at which it occurred? A screenshot, perhaps?

About the best I can do would be to pass along the Debug file, but I ran the install sequence a second time, so any usefull information was probably wiped. At this point, best I clear everything out and rebuild.

Mark

Nope, rebuilt and still cannot install SBB's BG1 mods or KD's Baldurdash. If they generated a debug file I'll post it.

Issues:

BoneHill installs a Worldmap. This may cause problems until the next version.

All parse errors are because you don't have BP which is where I got the IDS files that the Alert error and Sirius' errors come from. Looks like when I rebuild BoneHill, I will have to stupify it like Tutu, er, you know what I mean. :)

Yes. I just finished a third rebuild. What a freakin' nightmare. It took an hour and a half to two hours to nurse the BGT installer along without using the CD. Either my file is corrupted, there is something seriously wrong with the installer, or I can't read and I'm doing the process wrong. I still can't install any of SBB's mods, same error messages. :WTF: At this point, I just don't get it.

It might just run through if I can find a workaround for Sirius. What's the deal with the STO3201.STO file in Darkside. Not having BP means the others are unlikely to install as well. This has been a very long day. I'm about ready to say the hell with it and play what installed. :( BG1 without Darkside and Bonehill will definitely be a bit weak.

I am sorry for all of this crud. AFAIK, DSotSC tries to modify a store that does not exist in the BGT-WeiDU install (but did exist in Bardez's original version, but redundant) so it is currently incompatible. Bonehill attempts to compile scripts using IDS entries that do not exist, and thus is also currently incompatible unless you installed BPv170, which is not even available yet. So, unfortunately, this also makes NTotSC incompatible because it requires DSotSC. :wall: :wall: :wall:

Do you use WinXP? Have you any other CDs/DVDs in any CD/DVD-ROM drive? Virtual drive? If so, remove all CDs/DVDs from every drive (including virtual drives) and try again. Are you sure you are unable to reproduce the point (or at least one point) at which the CD is asked for? If you had already removed all the CDs, throw in a BG CD and see what happens. If you can, also post the DEBUG file. Sorry again.

I'm using Win XP. I didn't have any CD's or DVD's loaded and I don't have any virtual drives. I'll weed through the BGT debug file and see what I can find tomorrow. Gonna referee (DM) a pen and paper campaign for a little while before going to bed.

Well, you could always try a certain new mod (once TheWizard gets it posted) ;) Should take your mind off of BGT for a few days.

Mark, do you know how to edit a TP2 file? Just use Notepad. If you look through the DSotSC.TP2 file, you will see a section about installing and modifying stores. Go to the line that says COPY_EXISTING STO3201.STO blah, blah. Now either delete that line or place two // marks in front of the Copy command. Save the file and you fixed DSotSC! That means NTotSC will now install as well.

For BoneHill, you can delete the BHSIRIUS.BAF file out of the BAF folder. Basically, it was a modified version of Horred's WTASIGHT file modifed to include the nasty hand on your team members. So if the game can't compile it, Sirius will just stand there and you can cut him down quick.

I've done some hacking and slashing on tp2 files. I've even tried to create a couple. What I can't do is edit or create graphics. I think I can handle tracking down the STO file in Darkside's tp2. I can probably even take a run at the BHSIRIUS baf in Bonehill.

The tension is killing me, who has released what? I've got to go and find out, I'll get back to you when I have.

Hmmnn. . . . I can't seem to find anything new on the Wizard's site that I'd be interested in.

Found it!!! Cool beans.

I'm back in Kingwood for a weekend. Just long enough to read all of my e-mail and maybe play through a screen or two. I have to be back in Memphis on Monday, and untill I can arrange a couple of home sales, I'll be w/o a computer. I can feel the detox pains now as I contemplate the computerless days ahead.

Somewhere between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm, the spouse wants me to leave early Monday morning instead of Sunday afternoon.
