Incidentally, there is such a thread in the IEP general discussion already. :) Not posted in for months, admittedly.

Yep, noticed that. As it stands I think most are OK as is (even Viconia's romantic one, unhappy though it is...it does at least tie in with her romance plot). Jaheira's non romantic one and Sarevok's need doing, though. However, Sarevok would likely need two endings (one for CG and one for CE) so it wouldn't be a simple case of replacing the existing one with another - there would need to be some code written somewhere. If he gets a friendship mod then stands to reason it could be a component of that.
Cernd's is pretty bleak although after his child quest, it makes sense. But an optional cheerier ending might be nice for some.

As long as everyone is tossing around the idea of alternate epilogues, what about this one: have randomized epilogues. I'm not sure if it's possible, but this way you wouldn't know which one will show up at the end.

And, yes, I do find most of the epilogues of a depressing sort. I could care less about Cernd's problems, though. :mellow:

Well he does rather bring it on himself. It's like, "OMFG, I have a child! I must write this terrible wrong!" *kills Deril, grabs child and skiddaddles....then a day or two later...* "OK I've dumped the kid on my druid buddies. Let's go adventuring!" I mean, did he learn nothing?

Well... he is still better than Keldorn! (unless you persuade him to stay with Maria and leave your group for good, which I often end up doing)
'NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency! Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surpr-... I'll come in again.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!... Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms - Oh damn!'

Yes, so do I, even if it means losing out on Carsomyr (and an awesome tank once you fit him with the dex gloves). But then I'm the sort of person who isn't going to kill Tamoko for her +1 plate in BG, either. RP > equipment.

I don't know much about coding (next to nothing, actually), but I think there could be a relatively easy way to customize the epilogues so they would reflect your relationships with NPCs more.
At the end of TOB, when PC announces his/her decision, NPCs have comments about it. I think it would be nice if they could be extended to short dialogues which would determine the epilogue for the given NPC, for example:

Sarevok: blah blah blah, I'd like to travel with you if you allow it.
<CHARNAME>:
~ 1 - Sure thing bro! ---> leads to epilogue 1, mentioning that NPC and Sarevok indeed traveled together at least for a while
~ 2 - no way! ---> another epilogue

Same for Imoen: So, I guess we'll go seperate ways now, but we still could have some tea, someday?
<CHARNAME>:
~ 1 - why, of course! ---> A
~ 2 - oh no, I have enough of you already! ---> B

Obviously such epilogues couldn't be too elaborate or they would likely become contradictive, but just a small mention if PC and given NPC stayed in touch would, IMO, still add to the RP aspect.

But, as I had said, I have completely no idea if it's realistic coding-wise :(

The epilogues are overall a bit depressing, but I find ToB kinda boring compared to SoA and BGI.
Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

Nalia's ending grates on my nerves just about as much as she does for some reason. Maybe a lack of a mallet. ;)

Personally I don't mind Sarevok ending (although I gotta admit I like his evil Accension one better :D ), because well, it kinda felt realistic considering the man Sarevok was in life, he never had it easy like the PC did (beat that one evil PCs :P )

As for Cernd... well yeah, he had it coming. :ph34r:

Mazzy's ending was relatively dull though, I'm so glad I rarely go without Minsc if I have her in the party, his generally brightens up the damn credits. (gah, now I'm wanting cutscenes well done Solar ya eejit!) :lol:

I like that idea, Abigail.

Mm, Nalia. Well I never take her, actually, because she's just an inferior Imoen with an even more annoying attitude. :P
What annoys me is if you played as a fighter (monk/barbarian etc) and stayed mortal, shouldn't you really remain lord/lady of the keep? So bah to her (and the Roenalls) for taking it back. Bah I tell you!
