This will give us clues on what's matter, or let's hope so. If you can see them as if you would have no problems, the problem is in the 3d settings or some such...
The WeiDU.log might help too.
By the way, did you get the console to show up? As it's "Debug Mode=1" without the quote marks, so you need space in between the words.

Hmm, could you take screen shots in the game? -Just push "print screen", and edit the picture in the ScrnShot -directory from *.bmp to *.jpg and upload it to www.imageshack.us/ and use the link.

Where do I press "print screen"? With DLTCEP while accessing the savegame? Or do I have to access the savegame-file directly and get the right file within that, whichver it is?
Yes, I did get the console to show up, and enablecheatkeys() and ctrl + J worked re teleportation of character. I'll try it with "Debug Mode=1" instead of "DebugMode=1", this time, anyway. Since I , anyway, use ExploreArea() for every map-area I access, this won't be a problem.

In the game while in the map screen, while playing, from your Keyboard, the button should be next to F12 and Pause/Break buttons.Where do I press "print screen"?
And where does this file get saved to? Thanks.

The only changes I made were 1) to remove the 1pp mod, which I thought looked horrible, after I'd seen the changes(can't understand why some people prefer the BG1-look to the superior BG2-look), and 2) I got rid of a weidu lock file, which I believe is superfluous(that file only had tbtweaks mod listed on it).Any suggestions re a solution to my above problems are most welcome!!!

I should add that I installed Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate Throne of Bhaal as normal, and installed the two relevant patches, then I installed Moinesse Avatars(primarily for getting hold of long-haired female avatars) and then, after that, I installed BWP-Fixpack and the BWP-Install-Pack, as usual. This time, it only asked me to "crack CD"
around the NEJ mod, and then it went on installing until the Mid-biff mod where it asked me again, where I said no to any biffing. Lastly, it asked me whether to end-biff(I said "yes") and whetehr to use GIU or widescreen mod(I said "Yes" and "NO", respectively to those questions.Below is my WEIDU log file in an attahment.

I should add that if I place the cursor over a balck area of the map, that map-area lights up(in square form), btu as soona s I take the cursor away, it goes back again(unless my character is in the vicinity.

OK, here is my Weidu log file. As one can see, I installed the official patches after Bg1/Bg2 installation, then I installed Moinesse Avatars, didn't install 1pp mod, to avoid potential conflicts, and the rest is the same as the BWP-installation, minus a few corrections(eg:- remove helmet-animations etc.), but otherwise seemingly perfect. If anyone can spot any problems with that installation, please inform me of the particular problem.

In this case I can't help you, because I use Windows XP and have no experience with Vista graphic options. Perhaps someone else could help you. If we get more answers about that problem in our German forum, I'll let you know then.

but you have more choices or paths through the game.

In that case, knowing the what GPU etc. drivers etc. Strontium Dog has is important! And doing few google searches might just reveal the cause of the problem and solution. The same was reported in our German forum and it looks like after a computer/videocard/graphicsettings problem and has nothing to do with your installation. The problem happens with Windows Vista. Have you Vista, too?
Or you could try and go with the old and well liked -turning off the GPU- solution, reference to links. But that means perhaps saying goodbye to the widescreen mod.
Also NVidia8000+ help.

I deliberately didn't install the widescreen mod as I figured it would lead to problems. Anyway, I don't like the idea of having tiny figures onscreen. Thanks for reminding me re the nvidia drivers. I'll download them and change the settings - maybe 16-bit graphics will work out.In that case, knowing the what GPU etc. drivers etc. Strontium Dog has is important! (Interestingly, in a previous installation of BGT, it wasn't just the map-screen which was black but the entire fog-of-war area, so wherever my character went, all I could see was stuff next to the PC. I suppose this latest is an improvement.
By the way, I've been thinking... Wouldn't it be a great idea if someone could install a mod which cleared toe fog of war or at least expanded the range of vision. This would avoid the nuisance where one can launch fireballs at enemies within the fog of war, without a reaction from the latter.

So the problem is in the proper Video settings in the game, not in any one mod... sorry but you need to have these with NVidia Cards: Enable 3D Acceleration. Display -> 32 bit. 2d & 3d options: enable 3D Animations, 3D Acceleration and 32 bit textures, disable the Disable Vertex Padding option. Or if you have different card than 8xxx or 9xxx, just try different settings and see which is the best. Ahh, apparently I didn't read the WeiDU.log very well as you don't have the Widescreen mod... well that make it a little easier to modify the settings as you can do it by starting the BGConfig.exe ....
Well, the problem with that would be the AI can't see beyond the set-ed range, and the spells, weapons and everything else has their own range. So AI would need to be adjusted, not the players Fog of War. Now, there should be a way to increase the sight range for the PC/NPCs, as some spells can do that... but would that have any advantages I do not know... as the AI still stays as stupid as it is.By the way, I've been thinking... Hmm, by the way, which screen size do you use? Ah, it's probably the 800x600, never mind.

There is Hlidskialf's mod Clear Fog of War in his collection here:
http://america.iegmc.net/hlid/
What you do is rename Weidu.exe (208 or newest) to ClearFogOfWar-Setup. Otherwise the original CFOW setup will choke in installing because its version of Weidu can't handle the large dialog.tlk. It won't do every area but most of them will change.
Changing Line of Sight is harder and then you would have to change the projectiles for fireballs or similar spells so the caster doesn't end up just walking to the closer point to cast the spell.
"If you think that a size of the mod indicates an amount of bugs that it introduces and their severity you're totally wrong...
Try not to use next time a load of shitty "super-mega-improving-tweaking-revising" small mods that you have installed and try to meet Wulfgar once again." - King Diamond
"Finding food and a place to sleep is your own business. I imagine Paul the Cat should have some fun with you, too" - Potencius in The Darkest Day
"You have been warned, little bastard!" -Khelben to a young <CHARNAME>in Check the Bodies
There are those who will snivel, and offer nothing in return except criticism, meanwhile never lifting a finger to do other than to cut other peoples labor down simply for the fact that they lack the capability to put anything of their own together. -erebusant

800*600, as I don't like the figures to be smaller than that. Thanks for the info, I'll see about fixing that.
