#452848 Sounds Awesome!

Posted by Leomar on 15 June 2009 - 03:44 PM in Classic Adventures

Hi,

This mod sounds awesome, haven't had a chance to test it out yet cause im over my bandwidth :( but what i want to know, is it difficult to make a mod like this?

...also, where the best place to go to start learning to make my own?

Classic Adventures is a Total Conversion. That means it uses the BG2 engine but has a completly new story. So yes, it is very difficult to do such a mod without knowledge in modding. The best to start with is a NPC or items which are easier to add to the normal BG2 game/story. There are many tutorials about modding and you can ask here with which you should start:

#452846 Problem with Wild Mage Additions / Rhialto the Fabulous

Posted by Leomar on 15 June 2009 - 03:32 PM in Big Picture

Ok, now that I'm awake and actually read the problem (I assumed after seeing this goon, he wasn't meant for BG1), I took a look at his files after a mega install. I saw BPWTSIGT in one of his slots, I became suspect too. But when I opened this script, and held it up next to the one in the BP compiler---it's not my script at all. Whatever mod is replacing my scripting in the install (scsii, is it?) --it's their script, and no longer anything that even remotely resembles the BP AI system.

Thank you very much for the additional information. We'll find out, what the culprit is. :D

#452844 Jaheira leaves...

Posted by Leomar on 15 June 2009 - 03:27 PM in Longer Road

My cleric is romancing Jaheira, and she's issued an ultimatum: her or Jon. There doesn't seem to be any way to resolve this. Have I missed something, is there anyway to change/prevent this, or can you not have them in the party together? I'm currently in the last floor of Watchers Keep, after visiting the Forest of Mir and having the confrontation with anti-Gorion.

Help!

Here some informations about the situation:

Is there even a mod that makes cloaks show up at all?

I think not, too.

#452827 BiG World Project (BWP) v7.0

Posted by Leomar on 15 June 2009 - 11:29 AM in Mega Mod Help

@ gaspare

On a side note: mods that fit into "ascension related" group needs ascension mod to be installed?

No, not all. The mods/components which needs Ascension have an info in the guide.

@ Theon

I'd like to start a new playthrough, but as I see a lot of errors/bugs have appeared since the last update. Would it be better if I waited for the next version or it will take a lot of time for that to be released and should I play now?

Yes, it happend a lot since the last BWP release. If you want an easy and safe installation, then you should wait for the next release.

It would be really great if someone could gather all the presented solutions from the 200+ post into one.

The solution is the next BWP release. :D
All presented solutions are locally fixed/added/changed/etc. for the next release.

@ Haos

If so, it could also perform a compatibility check for widescren mod, which is heavily depending on bgmain.exe version.

We don't need a check for mods which will be installed later. Why we should check it before? Widescreen has nothing to do with a fresh new clean installation.

@ UberJumper

The Stone of Askavar (TSoA) v1.4
if i dig around online seems tsoaV1.5.zip has come out yesterday. I don't want the new version i want the old o

The BWS is now updated for the new mod-version and you should use the newer one.

@ Quester

Is there a chat channel where all the experienced mod people hang out? Because I have about a million questions I'd like to ask, but I don't feel like spamming the board with a million posts for every small question. Chat would be easier. Do you all have an irc channel?

It is always better to use the forums and open an own thread for your questions, because other gamers could have the same questions.

#452824 List of BWP issues

Posted by Leomar on 15 June 2009 - 10:34 AM in Mega Mod Help

Thanks for your feedback.

1. Some BG all-in-one dvd editions are already patched to latest version, but doesnt seem to include the Readme_patch.txt and BG2-ToB Patch ReadMe.txt used by BWP installer for patch checking. I`m aware that at least Widescreen Mod will not work with this version, as the bgmain.exe file is bit different, though, BWP should still allow to pass the patch check - y/n choice perhaps?

We'll handle this with the BWS next time, because the BWS checks for the BioWare patches correctly and not through a readme.txt. After BWS has checked this, the BWS will change the Install.bat for this case, so if the Install.bat starts, the check section is skipped and such problems never happen again.

2. BWP fixpack is overwriting Haiass Mod setup files with older, beta version, making that mod unplayable. Perhaps fixpack should be restructurized, allowing online updates for distributing hotfixes from other content sources, like BP

If something important was changed in the world of mods, then you must wait for an update of the BWP tools, too. If you don't want to wait, you must handle this for your own. Like here for Haiass:
http://www.shsforums...&...st&p=452268

3. BWP setup application - alas mods listed as not available for download should be listed in "Standard" set, they should be unchecked by default.

We go the other way with these mods (I think you mean Selune's Armoury, Wikaede, etc.). In the Standard-version are the mods which belongs to the version and not if they are available or not. If you don't have the mods, so you must unselect them or you get the information from the BWS, which is useful to know.

4. Some status/wiki page should exist for all bwp listed mods. For example, there are discussions over BG1 Adventure pack causing troubles in BWP install due to overwriting important files. In other places, fixes for the mod are mentioned. A potential user may get really confused whenever to pick the mod or not. Especiallly when installing a feature rich Standard version (all mods known not to cause any critical issues) can take up to 6-7 hours...

For this case we make BWS updates between the regular BWP updates, like you can see with BG1 Adventure Pack. BG1 Adventure Pack is listed as Standard in the guide, because it is not updated at the moment, but the BWS was updated for this and list this mod as Expert.

Here some more informations about the whole situation (see the last written text in this post):

I think not.

#452661 BiG World Project (BWP) v7.0

Posted by Leomar on 14 June 2009 - 05:12 AM in Mega Mod Help

Dark Horizons. And it is not just that item but all of them you'll need to fix if you want to make it BGT compatible, as described in that tutorial. I already fixed the proficiency in the item above, though I did not look at the kit usability flags.

All right, I let it White Agnus know. Thanks.

It isn't really an official version, because we didn't bother updating the readme, and also it has been merged into the Aurora mod. Also GeN1e said he wanted to adjust it a bit to account for declining prices when you sell multiple items. If it were my install, I would not include either mod with BWP but tack on agprices at the end, after biffing, because it's not the sort of mod you'd want to biff unless you're certain of the adjustments. There are 4 different options (adjust store selling prices, buying prices, gem/jewelry prices and creature gold). And with a big megamod install it might require tweaking those settings, probably even higher than the "recommended" settings (which is for only a lightly-modded BG2).

Do you allow us to use the revised version with the upcoming BWP until Aurora Shoe's comes out? If yes, we want to take your recommend settings first. Then we can see in the whole how good it works and which settings must be changed for default. What do you think?

#452659 Secret of Bonehill v2.45

Posted by Leomar on 14 June 2009 - 04:49 AM in Secret of Bone Hill

Also, there is one additional string in the Setup.tra

@501 = ~This character is now level 0. Level them up to choose their initial proficiencies and skills. (Until you do this, their hit points and equipment may be a little odd; don't worry about this. Once you level them up, they may gain more levels (depending on your own experience)).~

Do you need a German translation for this string?

#452523 BiG World Project (BWP) v7.0

Posted by Leomar on 13 June 2009 - 03:32 AM in Mega Mod Help

@ Rabbi Satan

Nevermind, solved it. I checked Near Infinity, and AR0511.are was somehow Durlag's basement dungeon.

This is our fault and is caused through BG1 Adventure Pack. Here you get more informations about it:
http://www.shsforums...&...st&p=450632

@ Miloch

No, it was the sling bit alright. Try this one instead:
cmdaq01.itm ( 418bytes )

The projectile animations were messed up too, so I fixed those. Also, this was a really hasty conversion it looks like. They should've set a lot of things relevant to BG2 like proficiencies and kit usability as per this tutorial. Converting BG1 mods to BG2 isn't as easy as just renaming resources etc.

Do you think this is caused by Dark Horizons or Revised Battles? Because if this is caused by Revised Battles I want to report it in the Revised Battles thread and is it caused by Dark Horizons White Agnus could fix it.

In the meantime, you can try this version (beta 3). It should not have any real issues, but you probably don't want to install it with the old version. If you do, you'll just get multipliers applied (so a 50% increase in prices on top of another 50% increase, or whatever option you choose).
agprices_beta3.rar ( 472.89k )

We included Store Prices for the next BWP release, but now I see this beta-version and I think, it is better to include your revised version in the next release instead of the old one. What do you think?

#452388 Sorcerer Problems

Posted by Leomar on 12 June 2009 - 02:02 AM in Refinements

The problem could be caused, because of the reinstall. I recommend to do a clean install, install the mods and start a new game.

And instead of the Baldurdash fixes you could use the BG2 Fixpack.

#452386 Just a few problems...

Posted by Leomar on 12 June 2009 - 01:47 AM in BGT Archive

Benjamin, if you use the "BiG World Project", then you should use the "BiG World Fixpack", too. You didn't do that and you could get more upcoming problems. I recommend a new clean install and then follow the first post of this thread and use the BiG World Setup.

#452383 Problem with Wild Mage Additions / Rhialto the Fabulous

No. White Agnus want to look at it, but like you know, White Agnus had an accident and needs another week to be back again. So we must wait for his return.

#452382 The Dreaded Bugs Thread...

Posted by Leomar on 12 June 2009 - 01:22 AM in Fade

Don't know if you'd call this a bug per se, but I changed the load order of some mods and now Fade is called "...." no matter what save game I load.
...
I loaded the save just before Mallon and he has no name either. Funny thing is his dialogue is all fine, and so is Fade's after you rescue her; they just have no name.

We don't call it a bug, because you did something, what is not good for your stability of your game. If you do a reinstall, then mostly your save games are not working with the new build anymore and therefore such things happens like you have. It is always better to play further with your game and accept the differences or reinstall your game and mods and start a new game.

#452381 IE Modding Digest: Volume XXXVIII

Posted by Leomar on 12 June 2009 - 01:15 AM in Directives from the Director

This little pinkie got translations updates
With Bag Bonus version 1.0.1 (check out some bags at the Adventurer's Mart)
...
Be sure to get the correct versions, as the topic can be a little confusing.

The current version of "Bag Bonus" is v1.0.3 and you're right that it was a little confusing with Badgert resurrected mods, because they were split throughout his threads. Therefore I uploaded all current resurrected mods of Badgert at the download-center, so you will get the correct versions of them, now.
