#530979 Darian Post-script

Posted by Quester on 05 January 2012 - 04:35 PM in Darian

Thanks to both of you.

@Crazee: That is a very nice portrait, though being a ranger I don't think Darian is supposed to wear plate mail? It also has the artist's signature on it, which is a tad distracting if used in game. But yes, a very nice portrait it is, and a very talented artist.

However, I took the liberty of simply adding some colour to the original portrait by Ilmatar, for my own use. Here it is if anyone wants to use it:

IMHO, renaming an ankheg "giant stick insect" doesn't really add anything. ;) Variety is great, but I'd prefer to see mostly monsters described in the various D&D Monster Manuals, providing of course that there is a suitable animation for them. On that topic...are you taking advantage of any of all the new animations available through Infinity Animations? Or just using the existing vanilla resources? Please note that I haven't actually had time to test the new version myself yet...

Well done, and congratulations on reaching such a milestone!

Darian looks interesting and I'll try to pick him up on my next playthrough.

However, one minor quip about the portrait: while beautiful and skillfully drawn, it is a bit too...monotoned? compared to the regular BG portrait style. It's a little too "blue and white". :) For my tastes that is. Do you, or anyone for that matter, have any good alternative portraits to recommend? Please don't get me wrong, as it's a very nice portrait indeed...just looking for something that matches more closely with the original style.

#530813 Big World Project?

Posted by Quester on 04 January 2012 - 08:31 AM in IE Help

The forum search function is, unfortunately, useless. You can search SHS with google, usually works for me.

The BWP files are here and the main BWP forum is here. Hope that helps.

#530400 Stivan the Hunter

This is amazing! Congratulations on releasing this, thebigg. Definitely including Stivan on my next playthrough.

Oh and...how long was this in the making, again? ;)

Hello there,

just curious how the new version is coming along? Since I'm installing a new game, should I wait a few days or is it further off than that? I love this mod by the way. It makes travel much more unpredictable and dangerous.  :)

EDIT: (Deleted my new BWP install.. starting over) If I accidentally have a expert mod in the bg2 folder will it ignore it if I use standard install?

Yes.

#529800 BWP and a few mods

Posted by Quester on 22 December 2011 - 04:08 AM in Mega Mod Help

Unfortunately, the Big World Setup utility is very outdated and will nor work very well if used as is. You can use it to download mods without doing a lot of manual work, however you may get old/outdated versions of many mods, which will not necessarily work well together.

BWP will install (nearly) everything for you using the Big World Install.bat. But first, you need to have downloaded and unpacked the mods you want in your BGII - SoA folder. The linklist should link to the newest versions of all listed mods (though it may be a few days or a week behind on getting updated with the very latest releases).

Basically, this is what you need to do. Feel free to read that whole thread as well.

#529794 Gain stats as you level up

Posted by Quester on 21 December 2011 - 05:59 PM in The Bigg Tweaks

Another request: could there be an option to set it so everyone can advance just 1 point over their normal racial maximum? So a human could reach a 19 INT, a half-orc could reach a 20 STR, etc. Also, it's not really clear from the current documentation how often this component will give you a stat increase.

#529780 BWP and a few mods

The best suggestion I can give you is to read the BWP pdf. ;) Not all of it necessarily, but the beginning and enough to get a grasp of the basics.

PS. both the Imoen romance mod and the Worldmap mod are listed on the linklist you mentioned and are fine to use in a BWP install, as far as I know. As is the Widescreen mod.

#529696 BiG World Project (BWP) v10.3 released

Posted by Quester on 20 December 2011 - 11:29 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hello, here are two requests for mods to be included in the next version of BWP:

1. NPC Kitpack

2. LadeJarl's Original BG1 GUI (made for Tutu, but also works fine for BGT as far as I can tell).

Excellent! Looking forward to the next version.

#529632 Gain stats as you level up

Posted by Quester on 19 December 2011 - 02:51 PM in The Bigg Tweaks

I love the idea of this component, but I would rather that stat increases weren't retroactive. There should be a sense of accomplishment associated with reaching a stat-boost. Besides it's silly to be able to raise an NPC's attributes immediately after having them join the party in the latter parts of the game.

Would it be possible to provide the option of not having the gain be retroactive?

#529427 Fishing for Trouble, mega-mod compatibility?

Posted by Quester on 16 December 2011 - 06:22 AM in Mega Mod Help

I know that there is a Fishing for Trouble "compatibility hack" which somehow adds FFT areas to the modded Worldmap (as mentioned here). But I'm curious if anyone has actually tried this and if FFT is indeed generally compatible with a mega-mod installation, or if there are other issues that will pop up instead?

The reason I'm asking this here instead of the FFT forum is that Yovaneth, the mod's creator, has explicitly expressed having no interest in compatibility issues (at least with mega-mods). So I thought I'd pose the question here and see if anyone has played/tested this together with a large mega-mod install?

I'm preparing to start a new BGT playthrough and I was very excited to see that it may indeed be possible to include FFT in my BWP install this time around.
