#558985 Installation Order and Compatibility.

Posted by Ascension64 on 07 June 2013 - 06:20 PM in BGT Archive

I've installed BG2+ToB on my Ubuntu 13.04 system and I want to take advantage of all WeiDU seems to offer. I'd like to install the G3 tweaks as well. Any idea as to how to proceed correctly ? I haven't been so succesful at WeiDU installs so far

Well the BGT-weidu is a PC only unfortunately, among the hurdles is the fact that the BG1 data needs to be transferred... and the only Linux BG1 is the EE, which the BGT won't cover so far. Ascension64 would need to make that compatible and that's a try he hasn't said a whisper about. Well as far as I know.

This assertion by The Imp, I think, is incorrect. BGT-WeiDU is not PC-only. It has compatibility to install on both Linux (Wine-tested) and MacOS (unclear if tested). It is noted to install fine on Wine.

However, a linux user would be most appropriate to chip in here and say whether other Linux OSs support BG1 and BG2, because I don't own and test on a Linux system, I cannot say. I'd not jump to conclusions as The Imp has over this.

Disable Saving Throw Fix.

#558519 Cannot install Core

Posted by Ascension64 on 23 May 2013 - 01:54 AM in ToBEx

The 26498 executable on a vanilla install should be used as the starting point for installing mods.

If the guest has already installed a huge number of mods, then re-installing from scratch is painful, sure, but to directly answer the question - no, I am not going to remove the bytes check from the TobEx installation.

One other way is to take the 26498 executable file form the ToB 26498 patch, which is still widely available.

#558319 TobEx Wish list

Posted by Ascension64 on 18 May 2013 - 04:27 PM in ToBEx

I haven't much of an idea about how to implement plugin support, but given that code changes from multiple sources have a high potential of conflict, it seems quite dangerous to me.

Yeah, you can easily just code a .patch file, chuck it in the ./TobEx/patch folder, and off you go.

Note there may be issues with calculating bonuses from launchers, as a bunch of functions will try to detect the launcher of ammo type, which would only ever return the first launcher of that type.

#558152 [BG2:ToB] TobEx Release Thread

Posted by Ascension64 on 13 May 2013 - 04:02 AM in ToBEx

I'm getting multiple attack texts (e.g., "Gnoll attacks Player") that don't at all match the animations...or anything even remotely likely, for that matter. I'm pretty sure a single gnoll doesn't attack 6+ times per round. :) (Using latest versions of EasyTutu and TobEx. A few other mods, but nothing that should modify the attack sequence at all.)

You are right, this is vanilla BG2 behaviour. Every time a creature processes some form of attack action, you get that message. Yeah, bugs me in BG:EE as well.

Second, any chance of putting the feature to correct experience reporting back in? The way I look at it, the 10% bonus to XP is part of 2nd ed, it's just that it's only supposed to apply if you have suitably high stats. I suspect Bioware just got lazy and, rather than actually coding it, just assumed that everyone would create characters that met the 10% bonus requirements. (And, in truth, I usually do.)

Hmm, well Beamhaul got rid of it entirely. You are still entitled to use the old mod if you want to. Just don't use it with TobEx Disable Experience Boost component.

Another thing I just thought of, though this would clearly fall under new issues rather than revisiting older issues, is the concept of bashing chests and the like. I'm pretty sure in BG2, this is either buggy or hard-coded to never work, where in BG1, I believe it was possible.

Pretty sure means not sure or definitely sure? I don't have the time to find evidence for or against for you.

Found the cause, missing EFF file. Have added check and warning to TobEx, but you need to report at SpellPack forums that JUJUANI2.EFF is missing from the install package.

#557633 BGT118 install failure

Have you run out of disk space? Looks like the installation had a problem with the BIFFing process near the end of the installation.

#557053 BGT-WeiDU 1.17 released but only 1.16 available for download

Posted by Ascension64 on 10 April 2013 - 02:51 AM in BGT Archive

Weird, the previous versions box displays the new file, but it still downloads the 1.16 install. I am re-uploading now. Must be some weird SHS DC bug. Possibly due to me not removing the previous file in the upload box and/or pressing Update Submission before the upload was fully finished.

#557042 WeiDU install fails

Posted by Ascension64 on 10 April 2013 - 12:25 AM in BGT Archive

Yeah, there should be a characters folder, which BG1 installation do you have? If not, you can recreate all the files in the characters folder with empty files to allow installation to succeed. There are:

cleric.chr

fighter.chr

mage.chr

multi.chr

thief.chr
