#381620 [REL] UFF & RM Tabaxi Race

Posted by Luchaire on 17 March 2008 - 04:28 AM in Races/Hair/Eyes

Name: UFF & Robert Tabaxi Race
Version: 1.6
Date: 3/17/2008
Category: Races, Classes and Birthsigns
Requirements:
Player-Created MOD(s):

Unofficial Patch: http://www.tesnexus....ile.php?id=5296
Fantasy Figures: http://www.tesnexus....le.php?id=13356
Robert's Male Oblivion Body Replacer 4.0: http://www.tesnexus....le.php?id=14942

Author(s): Luchaire

Description
===========
This mod adds the Tabaxi, a new playable race. Tabaxi are mischievous and deceitful, fun-loving cat-people, perhaps related in some way to Khajiit... perhaps not.

Details
=======

This mod is fully compatible with Robert's male body replacer and the Fantasy Figures female body replacer.

About the Tabaxi:

Racial Stats (Male/Female)
STR: 50/40
INT: 30/30
WIL: 35/40
AGL: 40/50
SPD: 40/40
END: 45/40
PER: 30/30
LUC: 50/50

Skill bonuses:
Acrobatics +10
Athletics +10
Illusion +5
Alteration +10
Sneak +10

Special abilities:
Resist Magic 50%
Night eye at will

Lore:
The origin of the strange race known as Tabaxi is unknown. Perhaps they are the result of magic gone wrong; perhaps the madness of the gods; or perhaps simple wicked fate. Regardless, these cat-people are known for stealth and mischief. They are quick and agile, yet strong, if not overly clever. They have a fascination for magic and magical things, especially of the sort that transmutes or deceives. Tabaxi have a strong dislike for Khajiits (and vice-versa) but are generally fond of Bretons and Bosmers.

Install
=======
1. Extract the files to a temporary location.
2. Examine the folder structure and make corrections where necessary.
3. Copy files to (install folder)\Oblivion\Data\

Comments: Beautiful (You know I have almost come to expect that from your characters :) )

Things that pop into my head: Do you use IFT or Natural faces?

Thanks. :) That character was a special project - she started off as an import of Halle Berry's face direct from FaceGen to Oblivion, then I tweaked the shape a touch, changed the coloring... and named her Haley. ;)

Oh, and I use Natural Faces (as I always maintain: "First and still the best").

Unplug any joystick or other game controller you might have plugged in. That's the typical cause of weird uncontrolled movement issues.

Comments: Very nice characters, I really like how you put those shots together :) (oh and Synn'ffyriel looks quite feral :) )

Thanks. Not really the best composites I've done, but they were originally put together for something else and I just decided to throw them up here on a lark. ;)

Things that pop into my head: How come in the Aeryn Firebane picture (number 2) it lists her skills as alteration, destruction, and restoration, and yet in the picture she is casting an illusion spell? :)

2 reasons: 1) it's dark in them there dungeons and claymores don't leave much room for a torch. :P 2) She's actually pumping illusion for role-play reasons even though it's a minor skill (I need her to be able to cast semi-effective frenzy and command spells later on).

Nothing fancy, but here's a few composites of the three characters I'm currently playing:

Posted Image

Melikki - currently level 19, recently finished the MQ (the one and only character of mine ever to do so)

Posted Image

Aeryn Firebane - currently level 12, working on Fighters' Guild quests, then moving on to SI.

Posted Image

Synn'ffyriel - recently started since I haven't had a wood elf in the harem for a while... was going for something of a feral look...

Was it really only a few months? :P
Hey Luchaire, my facial textures are off from yours. What mod do you use?

Natural Faces v95. The first and still the best. ;)

Comments: Welcome back :) That face looks almost identical to the original

Things that pop into my head: So are we going to be getting any pictures of Nina, Suni, or Lydia anytime soon? :) (my three favorite of your characters :) )

Thanks - poor Shadow only had to wait several months for that face. :P

As for Nina, Suni, and Lydia...

Well, Nina is retired somewhere in the Shivering Isles, Suni wandered off to Akavir and was never heard from again, and Lydia was last seen practicing a new Illusion spell called "Amplify Emo" - the results weren't pretty. :P

I don't really have much time for playing right now, but when I do, I play Melikki, Aeryn, or Synn - I'll drop a current pic of each in the screenshot thread, but they're not really up to par compared to all the latest equipment/poses/etc that everyone around here seems to have these days.

I finished my Master's Thesis, and defended it successfully... so now, after a break of several chaotic weeks away from gaming, I've returned to Oblivion. The occasion called for a new character, of course. :P

So here's Abrienne DeMer, my new Breton Trickster:

Now if you'll excuse me... I've got to go back through who-knows-how-many screenshot threads to see what I've missed the last few weeks!

#312057 The Next Tabaxi

Posted by Luchaire on 06 June 2007 - 01:57 AM in Oblivion Modding Discussion

Hm. I may have a wee bit of a problem with doing alternate tabaxi mods...

I'm upgrading my system (parts ordered yesterday, should arrive at my door tomorrow). I'll be switching hard drives and thus installing a fresh Windows XP. Unfortunately, as part of the process I'll be losing my (free-yet-legal-yet-I-can't-reinstall) copy of Adobe Creative Suite 2. Thus, the only Photoshop I'll have is an old PS 6.0 version - which won't work with the brushes I've become accustomed to using for fur and hair. So basically, until I come up with an alternate method (suggestions?), I won't have the means to work on the tabaxi. :(

The good news, though:

New system includes:
MSI P6N SLI Platinum nForce 650i mobo
Core 2 Duo E6300
2x1GB G.Skill DDR2-800
EVGA 8800GTS 320MB
250GB SATAII HDD

...should be fun. And finally... AA+HDR! Whee! *happy dance*

:woot:

A pity though the Exnem footfemale textures lack the dark nails as well as the tatoo
- same goes for Robert's textures.

Fixed. Please d/l updated version. ;)

Gothic Breton Race
Version: 1.1
Date: 6/4/2007
Category: Races
Requirements: Player-Created MOD(s): Unofficial Oblivion Patch or a custom race fix mod.
Author(s): Luchaire

Description
This adds a custom version of the Breton race - Gothic Bretons.

More:

~~3~~

Details
Gothic Bretons are identical to normal Bretons except as follows:

Appearance
Gothic Bretons do not have the "Dragon Shield" power
Gothic Bretons have a new power, "Power of Night", which is a touch attack that absorbs 100 Magicka, usable once per day
Gothic Bretons have the following skill bonuses:

Conjuration +10
Mysticism +10
Alteration +10
Illusion +10
Restoration +5

Note:
Because of the great many different hair and eye mods and compilations that exist now, no eyes or hair have been added to this race. If you want anything other than the game's normal selection, you will have to add them yourself.

Install
1. Extract the files to a temporary location.
2. Examine the folder structure and make corrections where necessary.
3. Copy files to (install folder)\Oblivion\Data\
4. Start Oblivion Launcher, click 'Data Files', place a checkmark beside the Gothic Breton Race.esp file.

In order to start a new game as a Gothic Breton, you will need to have either the Unofficial Oblivion Patch or one the various custom race fix mods. Without one of these, the main quest will never start and you'll be sitting in your prison cell forever.

Body Replacer Compatibility
Included are three folders in the "Extras" folder, with files for compatibility with the BAB female body, Exnem's female body, and Robert's male body.

For Robert's male body, copy the footmale.dds and footmale_n.dds files from the "RobertMale" folder to: Data\Textures\characters\GothicBreton\male

For BAB or Exnem's female body, copy the footfemale.dds and footfemale_n.dds files from the "BABFemale" or "ExnemFemale" folder to:
Data\Textures\characters\GothicBreton\female

In both cases, select "Yes" to overwrite.

Uninstall
1. Start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, uncheck the Gothic Breton Race.esp file.
2. Delete the files/folders associated with the mod:

Oblivion\Data\Gothic Breton Race.esp
Oblivion\Data\Meshes\characters\GothicBreton\
Oblivion\Data\Textures\characters\GothicBreton\

Incompatibility
This mod should not have any incompatibility issues with any other mods.

Known Issues or Bugs
None known.

1.1, 2007/06/03 - Added missing tattoos and nail polish for Exnem female body and default body, and tattoos on Robert's male body.

#311065 Disappearing map

Posted by Luchaire on 03 June 2007 - 10:31 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

It should. I'd forgotten about that ini line because I changed it so long, long ago in my game (like... 2 weeks after release :P) because it makes the local map full color. ;)

#311054 Disappearing map

Posted by Luchaire on 03 June 2007 - 10:04 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

Well as it turns out, you're probably going to have to actually post there. Since their stupid-ass forum won't allow searches on 3-letter words, doing a search including the word "map" is impossible, and I can't think of any other keywords that would bring it up. This is compounded by the fact that "disappearing" or "invisible" bring up pages upon pages of old threads related to the SI FormID bug. Gah! *hates the ESF search function and gives it dirty looks*

EDIT: No fair. You edited as I was typing. :P

#311031 Disappearing map

I've heard of this, but can't remember the cause/fix right off. If it comes to me (or I find it) I'll let you know asap! In the meantime, you might search and/or post on it at the ESF in the hardware/software forum - that's where I've seen it come up in the past. :)

Luchaire, I love your new character. I noticed that the face proportions of the three characters in your sig look slightly similar - do you use the same base for them?

Well, two are [modified] bretons and one's a nord, so no, not really. But most of my characters end up with some degree of similarity, usually in the jaw/chin shape. Cheekbones vary, eyes vary, but somehow I always seem to end up with the same chins and jaws - guess it's a subconscious thing related to what I find attractive. Probably the same thing for many people - like all of Chimera's characters have very similar features; Floydian's Sia and Sapphire are practically the same girl with different coloring; etc. :)

No worries. It won't be a big deal to toss out an alternate version later. ;)

Also, got the permission I was awaiting, so I should be uploading this later today...

Well, it's all together and ready for release, sans Hector's mesh. If I ever get that (:P) I might do an updated version... we'll see. Just waiting on one permission and I'll be uploading this to SHS.

Damn, this smiley bug me... is it sarcastic ? Or other ?

It's supposed to indicate sarcasm (typical of someone rolling their eyes at you in person) but Treetop seems to use it in almost every post, so it might have different meaning for him. ;)

I would really be curious about the animation.

Why? Is the animation special? Honestly, I wouldn't know or notice... I don't use any animation mods like AIC or anything, so I don't pay attention.
