Great pictures everybody, but I feel I must comment on only one particular screenshot this post.

Grimbot, the shot where your character's fighting that bear is absolutely EPIC, good angle, GREAT poses... I love it!

...

Also, Caelara is no more, due to a combination of a switch in leveling mods and my own stupidity. Yay for irrevocable damage to my characters. Well... I probably could have used wrye bash to fix it, but I'm always wary of using that particular program because it ALWAYS messes up my damned mod load order. Hence, I like to avoid the annoyance of re-ordering them into a WORKING order.

Oh well. maybe I'll just recreate her... or just create a whole new character all-together. Time will tell.

FYI - update to the latest version of Wrye Bash. It no longer does that - so long as you have "Lock Times" unchecked. I used to have the same problem - but just export your load order in OBMM, then fire up Wrye Bash, uncheck the "Lock Times" box, and import your load order in OBMM. You'll only need to do that once.

Hrm, I think I do have the most recent version of Wrye Bash... but, eh, it's a moot point now, since Caelara is gone. :crying:

*gives Caelara a 21-bow salute*

Maaan! I thought the entire site had crapped over, but I guess the forums were okay all this time. [sighs]

@Xetirox: First thought that occurred to me upon seeing the first pic is "Dogpile on the zombie!". The "melancholy contemplating under the night sky" pics are very... surreal and introspective. Is that night sky modded? I've a few mods that modify the night sky, but... I've never really taken the time to look at it.

Thanks for your comment. No, the sky isn't modded. That's the sky that hangs over the Shivering Isles. If you haven't picked up the expansion pack of the same name yet, you really outta,' it's awesome. And has a lot of great screen-shooting opportunities!

<Say hello to my little snip.>

@Daiyoukai Ramza[/b]: The scenery's is really nice here. And the detail in this pic is astounding!

<Sonic the Snip>

Hrm, I have the Shivering Isles... on both the 360 and PC. Even though I've had it for a fairly lengthy amount of time (for an expansion), I've never actually gotten too far into it. On the 360, I took my breton spellsword into SI and... did the first mission for Sheogorath, then randomly deleted that character. On the PC, I haven't even entered the portal on ANY character. I was planning on taking my angel-quasi-paladin, but... he's rather non-existent now. I'll eventually re-create him... but not for a while. And, well, I really can't think of a legitimate RP reason for Caelara to entire right now. Oh well, I'll EVENTUALLY complete SI... just like I'll EVENTUALLY complete the main quest... and the mages guild... and the thieves guild... and the arena.

Holy crap, I've had Oblivion for over a year and I've only completed the Fighters guild and Dark Brotherhood. Though, that's mostly because of my tendency to not stick with any given character for any significant length of time.... something I've managed to rememdy somewhat. Gah, anyway, back to playing Caelara.

Ciao.

P.S. Also, I decided to go with mahogany. I considered making her hair purple, so I'd have some sort of Yoruichi (Bleach) clone, but... we've enough Bleach character look-alikes 'round here!

EDIT: Somehow I got burgundy and mahogany mixed up... -.-

Hrm, I like variants two and three. I'd say that I like variant three a tiny bit more than variant two, if I were to choose between the two.

I like 'em all (or they wouldn't be posted) but I'm a bit concerned that the blue eyes/pale skin combo doesn't convey much fierceness... and her build is called a "chaos warrior" so a bit of fierceness is needed. The icy blue eyes are a bit better for that, I think. Maybe. Of course, I'm partial to the darker skin, too - which coincidentally turned the tattoos green, making a perfect match for the dark green eyes...

Gah! I hate decisions! :crying:

Hrm, given the circumstances, I'd go with the darker skin/dark green eye variant.

On a semi-related note, I'm trying to decide whether to leave Cymbri as she is (in the previous screenshot) or change her to one of the following possible variants:

All right... I need some opinions. As I mentioned before, I don't plan on doing much more tweaking, aside from hair colour. However, being quite an indecisive fellow, I can't seem to settle on a hair colour... so, eh, might as well ask everyone here.

This is her current hair colour, Copper.

The second candidate is... Bright Copper

3rd: Mahogany

4th: Blue Black

5th: Charcoal

6th: Black

EDIT - Oh yeah, and there's also Auburn

Or perhaps some other colour? I initially contemplated going white/grey/bright grey... but then I'd have to give her the "blind eyes", make her a mage, and rename her Ororo Monroe (ie; storm from the X-men)... so that hair colour is out of the question.

@ Dai - She looks great! Luchair'es BR helps!

Yeah, she looks A LOT better. Though... I have noticed something odd about her hands when she's not wearing gloves/gauntlets. Well, there's a somewhat noticeable... er, I dunno, I guess I'd call it "seam" at the wrist.

The "Seam"

Since I'll be wearing almost full armour most of the time, it's not a huge problem... but I'd like to know if it's normal, since... well, it would look a bit odd, if I ever decided to do an in-town 'civilian activity' screenshot.

And, if it's not... any idea how I could go about fixing it?

EDIT: Meh, never mind... it seems to be an exnem-related effect that's always been there... just made a tad bit more noticeable by BR.

Alrighty then... only one screenshot this time. After downloading Better Redguards, re-editing the BR-compatability Beautiful People .esp, and messing with the load order... I present to you the new, definitely improved Caelara.

Screenshot - OMG, exotic hottie.
Posted Image

It took me like 5 minutes of tweaking to get her facial structure back to something similar to what it was pre-BR. Since, well... I had to reset the face to get the new textures.

As of now, I'm not liable to do TOO much tweaking. I might change the hair colour and mess with the eyebrows... but now, thanks to Luchaire's EXCELLENT better redguards, I'm feeling MUCH MUCH MUCH more satisfied with her appearance.

Shameless Plug

@Daiyoukai: Are you using my Better Redguards mod? You might find it a lot easier to make an attractive redguard if you do. That's why I made the mod in the first place - redguards and FaceGen normally don't get along well. As for the eyebrows, they can be made much thinner and less obvious also using BR because of the darker base texture, which gives more wiggle room for thinning and lightening without weirdness. added bonus: eliminate the anti-moustache that happens to female redguards where the upper lip area is distinctly lighter than the rest of the face). Example.

Hrm, I'd contemplated using Better Redguards, but... I was fairly sure that a couple of my mods conflicted with it. Beautiful People 2.5, I believe.

<Snip>

@Daiyoukai Ramza: Great shot, nicely timed. The scenic one's also beautiful

@Everyone who commented my shots: Thanks a bunch ! It's greatly appreciated

EDIT: Damn, stupid browser bug, I forgot VanQa

@VanQa: I really like the first shot, would do a nice avatar ;)

Heh, it took me about ten tries to get that 'friendly competition' screenshot right. I was REALLY tired at the time, so I didn't think to "tai" the other guy.

EDIT: Never mind my initial quip about incompatability... I just found out there are compatability patches and work-arounds. Downloading Better Redguards and the related compatability files, as I ramble on.

<Godzilla vs the Snip>

*snip*

The randomize button is your friend, keep clicking it until you get a base face that you are mildly happy with, then edit it from there.

<I'll take a burger with a side order of snip>

I do that, but... well, I've never seen a randomized redguard face that didn't make want to claw my own eyes out. It's the only race where I actually prefer to work from the 'basic' starting face. In any case, I've managed to tweak her face since that post of mine, so it's a bit more pleasing to the eye, in terms of facial structure. The eyesbrows are still pretty obvious, but the newly tweaked face make it less irksome. Thank you for the response, though.

Feh... I made that ranger , but she came out looking kind of... odd. Mind you, I've not settled 100% on her appearance... but I do have the 'basics' down. The basics being the hairstyle, name, race. The main thing that bothers me is the eyebrows... they're FAR too noticeable. Unfortunately, if I make them less noticeable, then a very annoying whitish area appears in its place. Also, her face is a bit... mannish. That's less of a problem, since she's not really intended to be an uber-pretty character.

Anyway, I humbly present Caelara, the Redguard Ranger.

Screenshot - Dawn of Knowledge
Posted Image

Any tips on how to improve the character to make her... less odd looking would be MUCH appreciated. And yes, I've gone over the "how to make a beautiful character" and it's been a big help. But, I'd also like some live feedback from people more experienced at crafting female faces. Thanks in advance

Ciao.

Posted Image

^ This? ^

I have one done, just need to check permissions, again (I'm sure it was a resource, but, need to check..) and then package and relz, if i can.

Ooh, you're the one that made the souba mod? VERY nice work on that. I typically don't use japanese-derived weapons in-game, due to RP concerns (such weapons haven't 'fit' any of my character thus far.), but, if I had a character that wielded that type of weapon, you can bet that I'd be using the souba A LOT. The same goes a souba version of the above weapon. I say release it.

Reworking my Nord, Cymbri... could use some opinions on this look:

Posted Image

She's looking very good, to my eyes! The woad tattoos are VERY well-done. The somewhat asian appearance is a plus. The overall facial structure is very pleasing and balanced, as well. And finally, the hairstyle works very well with both the aforementioned facial structure, her eye colour, and skin-tone you've given her.

I wish I could make characters that looked that good. >_<

But, since I'm under a sort of quasi-time-limit during character creation, as the facegen opportunity in the prison cell makes my video card heat up to crazy temperatures. The opportunity right before the sewer exit doesn't... but the lighting is pretty poor at that spot. Of course, there's always the option of "showracemenu"... but that can be somewhat cumbersome.

Hey everyone! I finally figured out what was causing that "patchwork pussycat" khajiit! Get this... it was a loading order issue. I can't believe it didn't occur to me to switch the load orders of roberts and beautiful people. Ah well, at least my khajiit look... ya know, normal. Well, as normal as a 6 foot bipedal cat-man can look.

EDIT: Also, I apparently edited the wrong mod, initially... D'OH! Oh well, now I've got a working load order AND non-screwy khajiit... HUZZAH!

Anyway, I've had to restart my quasi-paladin AGAIN, because... er, well, my recent installation of several mods caused him to acquire an appearance tone not unlike that of Michael Jackson. Fortunately, I'd only played him for an hour, since I only used him to mess around with clothes and armour. I've been contemplating making a female ranger (or something along those lines.), since, well... I've got exnem now and a bunch of exnem-ized clothes/armour.

Anyway, time for some comments!

@highpressure: Nice screenies... I especially like the second third and fifth ones!

@Zombie216: I still like the ears.

@Treetop Smoker: Good screenshots... the one where she's in the blocking pose is my favorite out of the initial three. I also like that the shot where she's wearing that... mythic dawn-ish armour. And finally, the screenshot where your character is fighting the goblin is very dramatic!

@Floydian: Great as always. The screenshot where she's fighting Umbra (or an Umbra look-alike) is pretty cool. Also, Rufio's expression in one of the later screenshot is pretty humorous.

@Fyrefae: Nice screenshots... the third one "apotheosis" is my favorite, due to the pose, which is my favorite "sheogorath cane" pose. The screenshot where Baurus and your Tabaxi character praying over Uriel's body is very touching.

@JazzJR: That's an interesting feline fellow... I've seen such a mod (or one similar, anyway) somewhere before, but I can't recall where.

@Cosmic-Banana: Nice tattoo textures!

@Soul Slayer: I almost feel sorry for that bandit in the last screenshot. Keyword: almost.

@Shadow': That's the first blue-haired character I've seen in a LONG time. And, as a guy who likes blue-hair, I approve. The assassin fight screenshots, especially the one's with the little flashes of light during parries are very well done. Also, I see you're using Kadaj's sword from... er, one of the FF7 weapon mods that is floating about out there.

@Spike4072: One can definitely tell they're the same person, except for one being older, of course. Nice job!

Hrm, and... well, I'm off to think of a decent custom class for my ranger chick.

I'm thinking...

Race(in order of preference): Wood Elf, Dark Elf/Mystic Elf, or Redguard.
Sign(in order of preference): Thief, The Lord (for Dark Elf or Mystic Elf... I use OOO, so it's a fairly nice sign, IMO), Warrior, the Ritual.
Class Name: Ranger
Specialization: Combat (Secondary Specialization: Stealth... SS is a S.P.A.M. feature) (I might switch them around...)
Preferred Attributed: Endurance (I almost ALWAYS take endurance) and Agility (maybe speed, depending on which race I choose)
Majors: Blunt (Axes only... she'll be a woodswoman, so I figure she'll have chopped wood at some point.)
Light Armour (for several ranger-friendly L.A. mods I have.)
Alchemy (self-sufficiency)
Armorer (see alchemy)
Sneak (For stalking prey)
Marksman (Durr)
Block or Athletics (Whichever... both would basically be filler)

Keep in mind that the leveling mod I use (S.P.A.M.) gives me set multipliers based upon my specialization, secondary specialization (S.P.A.M.-only), and preferred attributes... so I really don't have to be quite as careful making a class as I do with the normal system.

Daiyoukai Ramza proudly presents... the amazing Patchwork Pussycat.

But when this chameleon in cat form disrobes... something completed !&*#ed up happens.

I'm 100% sure this little... change is due to Roberts body mod. I've done the whole "go into the CS and fiddle around" thing since I have BP 2.5, but I'm fairly certain I botched things up. So... uh, any ideas on how I can remedy this?

#308337 Comments about PoOC thread #8

Posted by Daiyoukai Ramza on 25 May 2007 - 11:18 PM in Oblivion Screenshot Archives

Alright, time for me do a little bit of commenting. As everyone may have noticed, I've mostly just been posting pics and making one & two-liners; the reason for that is because I've been feeling kind of down this last week. Hence, my will to say anything lengthy has been lacking. Anyway, I'll be commenting by poster, starting from page 9.

@Cyborgakadjmoose: Your character has a very... threatening aura about her. I think it's the fact that one doesn't see many women that are missing an eye. Also, I've never noticed that the hall of blades... has blades hanging from it.

@Soul Slayer: Nice screenshots... I especially like the one called "more silence" and the close-up taken in front of the gate. You're character has a very nice facial structure! Er... I don't mean that in a wierd way.

@LprMan: How your character can stab someone in the back and still manage to look so innocent/pure in the third pic, I've no idea.... very nice! However, the second screenshot in your May 26th (1:37 AM) post is a bit too shiny for my tastes. Mostly the actual character herself.

@Floydian1: Your characters are always so gorgeous. Every time you post, it always makes me want to try my hand at crafting my own Beauty! But, seeing as I don't have have.. er, Exnem's body mod (is that the right one?) installed, I always decide against it. Also, argonians with hair a just a wee bit odd... I wonder if it's a wig? :D Anyway, keep up the great work!

@Chimera: Normally, I'm not too fond of the default hairstyles, but the ones you've chosen work well with the characters portrayed in the screenshots. Shorter hair, to me, seems to fit warrior-women better than long hair.

@Kimory: The use of an in-context in-game quote and the Dark Seducer's response made me grin and chuckle for the first time in a week. Brightened up my day (er... night) a bit.

@Treetop Smoker: Awww, that's so sweet... and I mean that in the manliest way possible. Also, I see the ma is wielding the... uh Pure Steel Blade, correct? That's a NICE-looking sword. I have the mod myself; albeit, it's not activated at the moment, since I have nowhere NEAR enough money... and it randomly disappears from the vendor's inventory. The fighting screens are very nice as well!

@Cosmic Banana: I like the throne in the "leilu39" pic. I was gonna make some cheesy "bone to pick with you" pun, but I decided against it.

@Spike4072: I think that perverted ol' mage made that "mistake in the formula" on purpose. :lol2:

@Luchaire: You certainly managed to capture the 'goth' look very effectively!

@highpressure: Nice screenies. That armour's one I've never seen before, to my knowledge. It's very... chromey. The katana's neat, as well.

@zombie216: Heh, your character looks a wee bit peeved in that last screenshot. The "night elf" ears are a cute touch.

@Shadow': The 'matrix' shot is dramatic. That's a good thing, since I love dramatic screenshots. I also love the scenic screenshot of the lighthouse. And the last screenshot, for some reason... made me think "Josie and the Pussycats." I'm not even gonna try to delve into why. Some mysteries are better left unsolved.

If I missed anyone, I apologize.

Ciao.

I vote for keeping the threads separate, for reasons other people have stated; namely to avoid people's pics getting passed over, and to allow off-topic randomness, like that kitty-related thing that I logged onto recently. That's probably the most confused I've been since my high school days. :WTF:

Alright, I said I'd re-do those fighting shots so they're... like, not so dark and closer to the action, so... er, here they are. Took me a while, because the areas I was in, for some reason, caused my video card to get up to 100C, which... uh, caused it to poop out a couple of times, which made getting these shots VERY FRUSTRATING. It's only the second area I've encountered that causes my temperatures to skyrocket. Might have been the area itself (temple in the Imperial City), the three torches I dropped for lighting, or it might've been the armour I used. I dunno, at this point I don't really feel like finding out.
