#560068 Immortal Heart

Posted by Nightwoe on 16 July 2013 - 10:00 AM in Scribbles on the Wall

~A broken piece written several years ago~

Charging through Oblivion, his horses with nary a breath, spectral flames in his eyes, his dark cloak billowing behind. He has no blood, no heart, no life. His horses are beasts of the dark. Clusters of chaos shatter as he tramples through, they scream in agony and sparkle in darkest light, reaching out to grapple his cloak. Wisps of plague fetter the dark hooves and erupt like sparks upon the cobbles of broken eternity. Pillars of broken promises amass before him, the shattered remains of his army stand before him. Beasts of his darkness crawl upon their dragging bellies to catch a glimpse, perhaps to feed.

The master brought flesh victims of plague, the choking rot of carrion drawing the belly crawlers forward at an astonishing speed. The plague devourers, as they came to be known, dragged themselves pathetically to the corpses and began to feast, viciously fighting over scraps.

"Ease, my pets, there is more than enough," The man uttered with a wispy, cold breath.

His voice was as the sound of a soldiers dying breath.

Scores of the Plague Devourers crawled forth, all of different sizes, As they gorged themselves, the essence of death gathered like vapors from the now ravaged corpses, creeping across the floor with dreaded whispers. Mindless soldiers of decay rose, animated by the strings of chaos. Slowly, they added themselves to the ranks, weeping children scurrying aside as they shambled forth. The tears of plague children fed the darkness, holding the seams of their pocket of existence together.

The women of the ranks slowly deteriorated into nothing. From the bowels of their essence, their being twisted into the vaporous forms of banshees, their screams echoing through the void to haunt the living. Their shapes twisted and curled into itself, movement never ceasing. Now free from their mortal shells, they fly all over the sky wailing their misery, gaseous clouds trailing behind.

Having fed his pets, the man began to walk towards the broken spires. As he approached the rubble, the scattered pieces enveloped in dark clouds and hovered before him, arranging themselves to scale upward, the pieces all a mans pace apart. The man stepped upon them without hesitation or thought. The makeshift stairs led him upward toward the darkened sky. A ledge, of sorts, appeared through the clouds, it's likeness of black ice, sparkling and glittering, yet black beneath. The man stopped.

"So..." he mused loudly, seemingly to the air around him.

As he spoke, a portion of the ledge in front of him rippled like goo. It manipulated itself and built its own form, stretching out of the ledge and spreading out and upward. It reshaped into a complex mass of black ichor. It was solid, yet it rippled like goo. The man touched a bony finger to the surface, and a young man emerged, half his body still contained within the goopy mass. His body emanated a soft, golden glow that suddenly illuminated the ledge. Banshees nearby screamed as his hansom face emerged. They flew by him wailing, circling him like vultures.

"John, wasn't it?" the man asked as he starred at his captive.

"Where's Eva?" John uttered breathlessly.

"You're mortal wife is dead," the man stated gruffly.

"She is NOT mortal! Where-"

"The one called 'Eva' is dead," he held out a wedding band and dropped it in front of John's face, "I warned you."

John's eyes widened as he starred unblinkingly at the ring. It was unmistakably Eva's. The man smiled as John's frow wrinkled, his eyes producing tears.

"I told you she would be the one to die if you didn't cooperate with me."

"Beast! Monster! Abomination! How could you destroy something so pure?!" John sputtered through his tears, "Do you hold NOTHING sacred? Do the bonds of love mean nothing to you?! I swear, I will tear you asunder! I will expose your dark, diseased inerds to the light, and be there a heart within your rotting corpse, I'll take it as a trophy! I WILL AVENGE MY WIFE AND ONLY YOUR CORPSE WILL DO!!"

A silence fell between them, excluding the constant wails of the banshees above. For a long moment, the man said nothing.

"Are you through?" he finally asked.

"I will only be through when you are run through my blade!"

The man almost seemed to roll his eyes, if he had any, and let out a mild, groan-like rasp from his throat.

"You immortals and your 'soul-mate' obsessions and your 'holier-then-thou' attitude. Don't you realize that if you don't care...nothing can hurt you? I mean really," the man started to chuckle, "the only thing separating you from mortals is 'I' and 'M'."

The man apparently found this very amusing and proceeded to laugh at his own joke. John burned inside.

"To exist without caring would make a hollow existence," John whispered.

The man at last calmed himself.

"You've put me in a good mood, so lets have a little fun. There's a vortex that is very punctual with it's appearances around here. Care to guess where it leads to?"

John said nothing, but started to feel the mass around him turning back to goo.

"On the other side," he continued, "is a path to your sanctuary, through the chaotic springs of battle and drifting tides that create out our middle ground."

"I will NOT run from the likes of you!" John sputtered as he started to pull against the goop, feeling the substance pulling back.

John grunted as he pulled and strained through the goo, his flesh stinging like the substance had tiny hooks all over, pulling his back, denying his freedom.

'ignore the pain, ignore the pain...' he chanted in his mind as he fought, 'sweet Eva...' He pulled harder. The pain increased, but he also felt his body pulling away. He began to focus on his torso, pushing his body forward.

All of a sudden, one of his arms thrusted forward, free of restriction. One of his armlets flew off and skidded across the icey-black ledge. The man, who had been watching with interested, grabbed John's arm in a flash and thrust it back deep into the goopy mass. With the other hand, he pushed John's other arm deeper. John's head and part of his chest were all that emerged now, his head the only thing free to move. He struggled against the man, but now his arms were in so deep, there was nothing he could do.

"NO-O-O-O!!!" John screamed in open defiance, his eyes filled with burning hatred.

"Oh, come now, wouldn't your 'sweet Eva' want you to make it out of here? To fight me with all your strength and power of the 'holy' light?" the man taunted.

The man put his relaxed palm before John's face.

"I am all powerful here. I shape and control EVERYTHING here."

The man flipped his palm upwards, then began to focus. The surrounding darkness immediately was sucked into his hand. It swirled with false light and ominous clouds. John became transfixed, the swirling like the formation of a star within the palm of this twisted corpses hand. The man slowly brought his face down to Johns level, and taking a sickening rasp that was apparently a breath, he blew the cloud into John's face. The cloud forced it's way into his mouth and nostrils. He coughed heavily, the pestilence resting in and infecting his insides. Blood began choking it's way up his throat as he wheezed. His golden glow faded dramatically as his body began to feel heavy and weak.

The goop encasing his began to recede, leaving him face down on the cold ledge. He felt sick and weak, but something told him he had to move, and he had to do it NOW. He struggled to get himself to his feet, stumbling as he lifted himself.

The man glanced up as John steadied himself, "Right on time," he said casually.

John looked up and saw a violent vortex overhead. It was filled with twisting light, both false and true. It was the way home, the way to Eva. She was waiting for him...wasn't she? No, she HAD to be!

He spread his wings and pushed off the ground with impressive force. He beat his wings hard and fast. The screams of banshees made his ears ring. They were chasing him. They grabbed and pulled at his pure white and gold garments. They pulled hard, slowing his rise. He watched as the vortex began to close. Fear engulfed his heart. In defiance and desperation, he reached towards the light swirling within the vortex and drew upon it. He pulled the light to his hand and formed a sword. It was weak, but enough. Crying out with vengeance, John hacked away the wisped forms holding him at bay and beat his wings with all his strength, pushing him through the vortex to the other side and disappearing to freedom.

Far beneath him, still watching from the ledge, the man started laughing.

"Well, I'll be damned, he made it!"

He turned to a woman laying on her side, obviously plague-ridden and in agony. She had been hidden by the sickly clouds hanging about the surface of the ledge. The shroud lifted off her and wisped away. She lay motionless, her haggard breath loud and pitiful.

"What do you think he'll say when he finds out you're still alive?"

#554601 Issue with NPC-NPC dialogues not firing

Posted by Nightwoe on 11 February 2013 - 08:41 AM in IE Help

Tob, new game, NPC-NPC banters not firing, though NPC-PC dialogues are. I tried forcing dialogue by advancing "Real Time" and game time. nothing. I noticed sometimes the triggers get "stuck" and you can "un-stick" them by initiating dialogue directly with a character and the most recent dialogue will fire (NPC-NPC, not initiated dialogue) Even this little trick isn't working. Is compatibility to blame here or is there other possible reasons for this?

(didn't bother listing my mods, nobody knows ALL the incompatibilities, so why bother, right?)

#553145 Why isn't SoA showing up in my Tutu options at main menu?

Posted by Nightwoe on 13 January 2013 - 03:55 PM in Baldur's Gate Series

Tutu only lets you play through the BG1 campaign. You may be confusing Tutu with BGT.

I thought there was a version of Tutu that allowed you to use the root menu to startup on either game, and also seamlessly transferred you to the next game upon completion of BG1? I could have sworn I had that, and I never had BGT. This was around 2 years ago, however, so I could most assuredly be fuzzy in my recollection.

#553258 The Nine Hells

Posted by Nightwoe on 15 January 2013 - 01:41 PM in Classifieds

LOOKING FOR someone experienced in the ways of the Nine Hells, specifically dealing with Devils.

Need detailed information and opinions about society, social structure, hierarchy, and pretty much able to answer any questions I have.

REASON, building an NPC and quest line based off the Nine Hells, and unfortunately, the reference books I have available to me at this time do not cover what I need, (I have, for example, the Demonomicon (3.5) and the Monster Manuel (3.5))

I need someone who will NOT become irritated at many questions and on short notice, who will be willing to take in what I'm attempting and be able to answer cleanly what I would need to build around it.

Thank you.

Hey, topic title says it all, I have a full install of EVERYTHING, BG1+expansion, BG2+expansion, installed the full Tutu(with ToB version) but my main menu screen where you are supposed to be able to choose which game to play only displays BG1 TotSC, anyone know why my BG2 isn't showing up?

I've had Tutu in the past, never had this problem before.

Well, it doesn't... the BGT does... but you can use your original BG2 install to play the BG2 part of the game... as the EasyTutu makes it's own game directory...
The (original) BGTutu doesn't have either.

hmm...alright, thank you.

#553120 Peladan

Posted by Nightwoe on 13 January 2013 - 08:40 AM in Baldur's Gate Series

Just in case though... where did you find the baby? (I remember DSoTSC/NTotSC once made the baby available in a werewolf in the Ulcaster Ruins )

Yeah, I...go through that island way too fast. I got him off the werewolf corpse, as usual, but I always went straight to Kaishas after...because I'm an idiot.

Thanks for the info, now I know what to do next play-through. I would have replied sooner, but I had a virus that made my browser freeze, I just fixed it yesterday.

It's kind of funny, because in vanilla when I used to play as a paladin, I always kept him while the ajantis romance mod was active. "Yay, baby!" lmao. Paladin + Paladin = Peladan lol

#552959 Peladan

Posted by Nightwoe on 10 January 2013 - 10:31 AM in Baldur's Gate Series

Hey, here's a question...I've played through BG and BG2 more times then can be counted, but I've NEVER figured out what to do with little Peladan, here. Who do I give him to?

#554598 NPC idea - Anishay

Posted by Nightwoe on 11 February 2013 - 08:30 AM in IE Mod Ideas

So...my advice would be to write it in a way that doesn't make the mod scream, "I'm a mod!" in the player's face.

Damn good advice that made me laugh to boot.

Erm. I assume this girl is going to be friends with Aerie, right? I'm sorry, but the Haer'Dalis fling came to my mind, and even though it would probably be a bit over the top to make any 'meddling' happen, I still find the thought amusing.

#554032 Mod idea: A djinni companion

Posted by Nightwoe on 26 January 2013 - 07:24 PM in IE Mod Ideas

Actually I don't have much free time (preparing to become a Policeman is very hard in Spain nowadays...) but I'm going to install it (mid game now, in the Underdark) and see how he helps me.

Just thinking...... I don't know what you have planned and don't want you to spoil anything but... if finishing his quest and all that makes he free and obviusly grateful, and being a Djinni who can grant wishes.... are you going to add a Wish granted or something? I know you better not grant anything too powerful but story wise if someone help me get my freedom back after years and years of imprisonment and being a slave... I would gladly give them anything in my power.

So.... fixing something you could not avoid (Khalid, Dynaheir, Gorion, Yoshimo...) could be great. That would mean a lot more material for you to write and of course some negative opinions from people who would prefer Gorion staying dead for example, but you could simply not choose that wish.

I'll stop rambling now :) and try your light version.

Sounds cool to me, I like the idea, but I also see that it could cause a single NPC mod to turn into, (well, with what you have here,) 4 more mods. Eh, but as I always say, it depends on the author and the final outcome...and ultimately the decisions being made. Judging before completion is just silly.

#553793 NPC: Caoco

Posted by Nightwoe on 23 January 2013 - 03:35 PM in IE Mod Ideas

Naw, you didn't offend me or anything. I was frustrated, but I know you all mean well. And you are all right, I over embellished the character. I do want to explain myself a little, though...I love original thoughts and characters, I get bored with characters who are like "Yeah, I came from this town, My mommy was this, my daddy was this, I love tacos, this is my god, I worship him, I think this and I think that..." And I'm sitting over here going "SHUTUUUUP!!!! You're so BORRRRRRRIIIIIIING!!!" The main reason I wanted to make Caoco is that I want MORE originality, MORE strange, borderline characters that have weird, twisted backgrounds, I want some MORBIDITY and fire. I was planning to make Caoco a sick bitch all together, a character that would befit a truly evil aligned party, a party where the main character wants to see the ruthless followers that would truly follow in the wake of the ascending Lord Of Murder.

Another thing that gets me is that I see A LOT of good aligned characters. no one makes evil characters, there are so few of them. For some time, I've sat back and looked at the romance mods and frowned at the lack of true evil-aligned content. I wish there was an evil aligned romance character for BG1 or just BG2 that looked with wonder and awe at the blood lust and violent nature of the PC. Something in vanilla that got under my skin quiet a bit with Anomen, mister dis-functional goody-two-shoes that served as the ONLY female protagonist choice, which you could control to make him good or neutral. If you wanted to play for evil, you were alone, while on the other hand, male protagonists got the choice of good, neutral, AND evil for romance options. Viconia is a great character, so is Aerie, and so is Jaheira. Anomen was good too, but his whining and uncertainty was enough to chafe until you couldn't take it anymore.

I wanted Caoco to break the mold and offer something even darker then Viconia, because I know I can't write a male character, as much as I would love to make the character that has some dark silhouette in the back of my mind.

But I'm ebbing off. I'm going to re-write Caoco and see what I can come up with. If I can't make her work, then I'm just going to scrap her altogether. I refuse to write a mod with mediocre results.

#553464 NPC: Caoco

Posted by Nightwoe on 19 January 2013 - 12:59 PM in IE Mod Ideas

Apologies if this comes across as rude but please do some research on Haer'Dalis. Then go look at the other successful NPC mods that are even a little other worldly (Fade, Amber...I probably forgot some). Then come back and look at your idea. What makes your idea too special isn't the individual aspects of Caoco, which all sound neat - it's the combination of all of them. By all means, make the mod however you want (just make it and get it off paper, honestly). But be prepared for criticism, harsh responses, and even mockery when players start feeling like their CHARNAME is a co-star living in the shadow of your NPC.

Apology not needed, I wouldn't have posted if I didn't want criticism. Like I said, I didn't want to sound defensive, I just didn't understand where you were coming from. I will heed your advice and do more research. I'm still a bit confused on the fear, because I feel that without an outcome, it is near impossible to gauge if the concept goes overboard or not. But of course, I gave you what I had, and you all responded in kind, and I thank you for that.

#553390 NPC: Caoco

Posted by Nightwoe on 18 January 2013 - 10:43 AM in IE Mod Ideas

If she's from Baator, shouldn't her AL be LE, not CE? Is there a specific reason why she'd be chaotic?

Yes. She wasn't raised in Baator, she was there for a short time. She's kind of an outcast by birth. Her time in Baator was enough to fuel rage and desire for power, but she doesn't really understand the structure of the Nine Hells. That's why her wisdom is so low. I think I'm going to drop her intelligence as well, but probably only by one or two points, I want her to be intelligent enough to make sense of her scheming and manipulation tactics. She has spent years wandering Faerun at the point she reaches the Sword Coast.

Is that an efficient enough reasoning to change an inherent alignment, do you think?

#553193 NPC Idea: Sarevok

Posted by Nightwoe on 14 January 2013 - 10:22 AM in IE Mod Ideas

@Nightwoe: I love your ideas! Maybe do the first idea where Sarevok is deemed useless by Irenicus and decides along the way that joining the PC after they escape the dungeon would be a good idea. Just a thought!!

I feel that would befit his character...he is most definitely a man of strategy, but he has to plan ahead...I don't think he's nearly as good at thinking on his toes, like a skilled rogue would be.

#553192 NPC Idea: Sarevok

Posted by Nightwoe on 14 January 2013 - 10:17 AM in IE Mod Ideas

I would be heavily against this. Sarevok died at the end of BG1 and his body turned to dust as his essence merged with Bhaal's. The same reason why Charname can't be resurrected. This is established fact. The only reason Irenicus is interested in Charname and Imoen is because of their divine sparks. Khalid, Jaheira, Minsc, and Dynaheir were simply collateral damage. Not to mention that Jaheira, Minsc, Imoen, and probably Keldorn would attack him on sight.

Personally, I think this is a really bad idea. You're running off nothing more than "Wouldn't it be cool if Sarevok was in BG2?!", and that is a very poor foundation for a mod, especially as you yourself admit that the reasoning could be generously described as a stretch.

I sense you as a strong factual realist and strong hearted fan. I respect this, but even if it "Wouldn't it be cool if..." is the only reason, after playing through the same game so many thousands of times, why not explore avenues of such ideas? True, it is AGAINST facts of the game, but isn't that, at least partially, what modding is about? A spark of creativity, a drive to make it real? There are always different types of fans, and their is no way possible for every mod to appease every fan...but if someone wants to make a mod to follow a creative spark, that doesn't mean everyone has to download and use it.

Again, I respect your point of view, and I don't wish to come off in any way offensive to your opinion.

I know I come off as a complete noob to all of this, but I've been part of creative gaming groups for a very long time. If nothing else, then I suppose all this would be good for is an interesting fan fiction.

But to elaberate...charname CAN be resurrected, however the reason this is not plausible in game is because upon death you lose the taint...the divine spark. Which would make the game's very point to DRIVE the PC forward useless. The only real obstacle is the turning to dust, returning the taint. It is never explained, however, how Imoen is the soul exception to this rule. She can die over and over, yet she retains the taint, which makes no sense at all. An oversight on the developers part, I'm afraid.

In ToB, you kill many Bhaal spawn, but their bodies don't eviscerate upon death. Another oversight on the developers.

#553176 NPC Idea: Sarevok

Posted by Nightwoe on 14 January 2013 - 08:42 AM in IE Mod Ideas

Well, like I said, this is just a sample. And really, after what Sarevok put <CHARNAME> through, he or she wouldn't really be happy to see them. And it's the first talk in Irenicus' dungeon. <CHARNAME> is under a lot of stress right then.

And It's the only way I could think of to make it somewhat readable. I'm out of practice with this.

...side note...but I could see certain evil aligned characters that would still be reveling in his defeat. Though, I suppose you're right about the stress.

#553197 NPC Idea: Sarevok

Posted by Nightwoe on 14 January 2013 - 10:40 AM in IE Mod Ideas

@Nightwoe: I personally maintain a firm difference between mods that explicitly break established facts of the games, and mods that simply add to them. I don't play Ascension or The Longer Road, for example, and I wouldn't play this mod for the same reason. If you enjoy that kind of thing, more power to you, but I think the question of what this mod idea actually adds beyond fan squee is one worth asking.

And again, I have full respect for that. You could call me an NPC whore...for in the days of old when I didn't know what modding was, when I played in the confines of my room for hours on end, listening to every NPC's interjections and interactions, I molded detailed psychological profiles on many of the characters. Sarevok is one that FASCINATED me...as did Keldorn, Viconia, and Jaheira....but I digress. The point is, I enjoy deepening character interactions and revealing more psychological reflections. "Fan Squee" seems to me a cruel manner of saying "I think you're not really basing this on plausibility of the game" Which yes, you are right, the concept is bending rules to the near breaking point, but it's already been done, and honestly, I think this more plausible then some other NPC mods I've seen...the ones that break the fourth wall more then a little in efforts to be humorous. I don't play those types of mods, but I don't disgruntle those who enjoy them. As you say, power to them.

I suppose it also comes down to, (at least in my opinion) how well the mod is thought out and how it shapes out in the end.

#553386 NPC: Caoco

Posted by Nightwoe on 18 January 2013 - 10:03 AM in IE Mod Ideas

NAME: Caoco

GENDER: Female

CLASS: Fighter (Possibly Berserker)

STATS: (Draft)

                STR: 17

                DEX: 16

                CON: 14

                INT: 15

                WIS: 10

                CHA: 13

Caoco…A vicious, Blood-thirsty killer…a chaotic and evil woman wandering seemingly aimlessly across Faerun. Her dark origins are as hidden as she can manage, her dark temperament not nearly as controlled.

Her origin…Born amidst the flames of Baator, she fled the city in youth and, with the help of her half-sister…found her way to the city of doors. From there she tells nothing, but that she eventually found her way to the Material Plane…Faerun. In her youth, she was scorned and feared, for her devilish wings and aura frightened many common folk. She retreated to the wilderness. There, she committed to plotting and fantasizing…her ‘half-sister’ and her ‘father’. There power and station barred her from the Nine Hells…and the power rightfully hers to share…but share she would not. One day she would over-throw them. One day, she would slaughter them…but over time she realized, why stop there? She could rise further. She could descend the layers of Baator and destroy everything…and with the right tools and enough power…usurp Asmodeus himself. The Nine Hells all to herself. Could it be possible to dethrone he who has never been dethroned? She fantasized it to no end.

A fools errend…ambition that would end in disaster. An insane proposition…but what if she could? What if she gathered all the power she could across the planes, all the allys she could muster, all she could grasp…could she do it?

Avernus, Dis, Minauros, Phlegethos, Stygia, Malgolge, Maladomini, Cania…Nessus.

But it would start in Phlegethos. Her father and “sister” would taste her wrath first and foremost. As far as Caoco was concerned, their time in power was limited. She just needed the means.

In order to find those means, she needed to blend in. Her wings…given to her from her Erinyes mother… were useful...but they were also cumbersome and reeked of brimstone no matter how much she washed them or tried to mask the odor. Finally, in desperation, she cut them off herself. She writhed in pain for days as she slowly cut through the bone, the difficulty unfathomable as she cut very nearly out of reach. At last, one by one they fell upon the ground. Through tears of pain, she smiled in triumph. Now she could walk among the mortals undetected and left to herself.

However, there was another sign she could not remove. Her…heels. Her birth defect. Her perfect imperfection. She had to hide it…but how?

In her mother’s womb, Caoco’s fibula overgrew. The back bone grew beyond the front and extended through her ankle and heel, protruding from the skin. As a result, she walked on the balls of her feet…and her bone as a makeshift heel. It was attempted to cut it off, but strangely it grew back…and continues to grow. Every now and again, Caoco has to cut the bone down to stop it from extending so far she can’t walk.

After long suffering in oversized boots, she found a solution. She found woman that wore strange shoes that were shaped just like her mutated feet. She commissioned these shoes to be made in a way to “sheath” the bone and be comfortably padded the front. They were fashioned to appear as boots, but inside, no normal foot could wear them, not even slip inside.

As Caoco wandered Faerun in search of all the power she could grasp, she eventually found the Sword Coast…rejoicing the end of some tyranical figure ended by someone named [CHARNAME] Intrigued, she pursued information about this one, this “Hero of the Sword Coast”. Through over a month of research, she found a rumor that excited her beyond anything she had found so far upon Faerun…there were whispered rumors that the hero was the child of a God…a dead god...

Fate must have guided her to this place, for this was the opportunity she had been seeking for years. The child of a GOD? This one’s power must have been immense…and a tool worthy of being wielded.

Immediately, Caoco made plans to seek this Child of Bhaal out, but soon found that her quarry had completely disappeared. Unwilling to let opportunity slide through her fingers so easily, she scrounged together everything she had and saught powerful mage to divine a location…but the divination failed. Over and over, she spent just about everything she had amassed in pursuit.

But all efforts were in vain…until one day…

So, that's what I have so far on concept design. I'm outlining her quest now, and still pondering over romance options. So, I wouldn't mind feedback, do you think it sounds a little extreme? Or any other comments.

uhm, yeah.

You may want to consider going the tieflng route instead of full devil. I agree with theacefes that she's coming across as much too special right now. Hell, some of the delusions of power could probably still work with a tiefling if she's got aspirations to shed the nasty human heritage and become a full fiend at some point. And a CE full-blooded devil still strikes me as somewhat problematic; PS:T did something similar with their succubus, I suppose, but that game is all about paradoxes.

Also, why wouldn't she join the party of a Helmite cleric? A good-aligned cleric, sure, but Helm's LN. And would she not join the party of a PC paladin, or a party that has any paladin in it? Since if her issue is the paladin's aura, that should probably apply to any pally in the vicinity.

AH! It's been too long since I looked those gods up, lol. You're right, Helm is LN, I was thinking Lathander! Actually, come to think of it, a Helmite willing to look past her devilish heritage would be a hell of a good point of interest to her, seeing as Helmites tend to borderline fanatical rather easily.

Also, I already thought of having another Paladin in the vicinity, but her goal is the PC, she doesn't care about who's following her. She's willing to deal with another paladin's aura by staying away from them, (difficult in party life, but conversational points of interest for sure). The paladin aura isn't the reason she would abandon her quarry, it would be a discovery. Feeling that aura would tell her it was a lost cause, as a Paladin is trained to battle demonic mind games. Does that mean they are immune to temptation? Hell no, but resistant, yes. If another Paladin is in the party, she would still feel the aura, but there's always the possibility she cold convince PC to get rid of them, and she knows this.

UGH...Tieflings...SO overdone...perhaps not in BG, but I'm sick of Tieflings. Also, it just doesn't fit.

Now, let me take another side trip and ask you a question...explain to me in detail the full difference between a Tiefling and a Half-Fiend.

Also, I don't mean to be defensive, but in this "too special" aspect, I don't see how this concept is much different then Haer'Dalis, OTHER then Caoco is holding on to her roots with vengeance, while Haer'Dalis roams aimlessly. I don't mean to say this with any grief, but please, explain yourselves on the extremity so I can understand where you are coming from.

OH, let me add, I had NO intention of making her a full blooded devil in the game, I agree on that extremity, that's like having a dog following you around, it's too much and doesn't flow with the game.

Cool, yeah, her alignment could be anything, since she's been on her own for so long, and has very specific interests. Did she live in one area in Faerun for long, or has she moved about much? Ever met any of the better-known personalities of the Realms? Has she any interest in the Blood War? Maybe worked for any of the Dark Eight or the Lords of the Nine? Been to any other planes besides Baator and the Prime Material Plane?

In her interest to find as much power and tools granting power, she has wandered all over Faerun, she never stayed in one place long. Most recently she came from Icewind Dale...which she's pretty vocal about how much she HATED it. She despises the cold, as befits a devil born on Phlegethos. As for greater people of the Prime material, she does research before spending resources to approach anyone. She did some research on Elminster, but she dismissed him as a possibility for numerous reasons. That's pretty much all, (so far that I've come up with). The Blood War is part of the reason she left the Nine Hells, because her father was keen on throwing her into the middle of it. Though her blood-lust reveled at the thought of the incredible level of carnage, her ambition against her "family" pulled her head out of that haze. She never worked for any of the eight or the lords, BUT that might change, I need a way of building up her strength of arms besides the wandering of Faerun. Besides a brief escapade in the Abyss, (which lasted only days because of Tanar'ri swarming her immediatly after sensing she was Baatezu) she hasn't been anywhere outside the Hells and the prime material, but she plans on it after finding all she can on the prime.

AND as for fiendish abilites, I'm still chewing over that possibility. I don't want to over power her, but I was thinking I wanted her to have a fear aura and a unique ability to instant kill low level enemies that have been incapacitated with a sleep or command spell with her razor-like heels ONCE PER DAY.

I have no idea how to code that, though, lol. But that's just a thought. ALSO, the fear aura would affect only low levels, like I said, I don't want to over power her

Ok, I see where I went wrong here. Ok, in the background drafts, I DID say she was whole devil indirectly, pardon me for the idiocy, I never put into play the coming alongs I had...I was looking for an excuse to make her half-devil, I just havn't found one yet. Ugh, I'm an idiot, uhm...

In planning phases I wasn't really paying enough attention to that detail and somehow was thinking to myself, "eh, it works," but some tweaking is in order. Let me see what I can come up with.
