Apologies in advance since most or all of my questions will probably cause excessive eye rolling. I have very little clue (okay, none) about any of this, I simply want to install BP-BGT, and I am nervous about fucking it up. I've been looking around for help topics on this but found very little that actually answers the questions I have in a manner that I can understand. The fact that english isn't my first language (but the game I have is in english) doesn't exactly make it easier.

I have installed BG I (TOS), SoA and ToB. I've also installed the patch for ToB, however, looking for the BG I patch I noticed that it said it is only needed for the six CD version of the game, not for the three CD original saga, in fact, it screws up the game if it is installed anyway. Is that true or do I still need to install the patch?

I am getting what I have from here:

http://mirror.spellh...ios.net/bp-bgt/

Is that correct, meaning is it what I want? The file checker keeps on informing me of all the funny sounding files I need - are they required or optional mods? Where do I get them?

I know thatn this is completely and utterly below the level you guys are on - I apologize, I hope you can still take some time to help me out with this, or direct me somewhere helpful.

This helped me a lot (from King Diamond's "Check the Bodies" Installation Order for the New Stuff post...)

The following way is absolutely clean (ignore unnecessary mods if you don't want to install them):
1) ToB+offic. patch
2) BDash-WeiDU (or G3 fixpack).
3) SoS v1.10/TDD v1.10/CtB v1.7 (+ fix 1) - in any order
4) TS-BP v6.04.01
5) BGT-WeiDU v1.00
6) Install ANY other mods you want here (hope they're truly WeiDU and don't ruin anything).
7) BP v1.76 Public BETA
8) Worldmap, latest version
9) If you want you may activate preferable GUI at this point - just run GUI-Switcher.

I don't think the BG1 patch is necessary for the later 3CD edition.
Making back-ups (of a clean non-modded installation [if you have the space], override folder, chitin.key, dialog.tlk file, and the bgmain.exe) doesn't hurt either... And CtB + NeJ= no good.
Also, in my personal experience - if you have a decent system - I wouldn't biff anything...
Hope that's a help.

Thank you very much for the instructions and for your help. It's much appreciated. The checklist is brilliant because it is so detailled even I can follow what's going on.
One rather simple question up front: How do I extract a .rar file? (step 10) I cannot seem to get around the message that tells me it's an unknown file type. Am I missing something obvious? (probably  )

You need an application that will recognize .rar. WinRAR, ZipGenius and others will do that very nicely.

Thanks for the hint, I got WinRAR and it worked just fine.

Next problem - when I did unzip NEJ2v42B, which I got from http://america.iegmc.net/, it told me that some of the files were corrupted and to get a better version. Any help on this?

Thanks - once again.

You're probably referring to the CRC error in MxLeinaA.acm

I had that issue as well. Seems to depend on which mirror you download from. Easiest way around it instead of re-downloading is copy the same file from your NEJ2\Backup8 directory to your NEJ2\Music\Leina directory before actually running the installation. I'll verify the path tonite when I get home, but I believe that is where it's located and where it should go to. :)

That's exactly what it was, I am not completely sure about the path though

From NeJ2/backup/8 to NeJ2/Leina/Music or to NeJ2/Leina/Music/MxLeina (which so far is empty)

As soon as that is figured out, simply run NEJ2v42B?

Sorry, I've been out while working at upgrading my PC. Looks like I get to reload again anyway, so I'll know tomorrow for sure and let you know.

Copy BGII-SoA\NEJ2\Backup\8\MxLeinaA.acm to BGII-SoA\NEJ2\Leina\Music\MxLeina

Then run your install and you should be fine.

Copy BGII-SoA\NEJ2\Backup\8\MxLeinaA.acm to BGII-SoA\NEJ2\Leina\Music\MxLeina

Then run your install and you should be fine.

It simply gave me the same error when I tried that (and the MxLeina folder was back to empty when I checked).
