How about adding a bank, so you can keep more stuff until you get the Bag of Holding in Spellhold? One in the, say, Gov District and one in Brynlaw?
Kept by Gnomes, of course. :Tasty:

I personally keep my stuff in chests (?) near the exit from CI in the Promenade. Free of charge, so to speak :)

Not a bad idea, I think. ^^ Though you can keep stuff in your stronghold, it can be an alternative that may add a new flavour. But why Brynlaw?

Because you can't get back to the mainland after you go across the sea, (either Shadow Thieves or Bodhi) so not being able to access any of the stuff after you cross would suck.

I mean, not from a "technical" point of view. Brynlaw is not a friendly place to be, pirates, thugs, unfriendly mages, why would someone like to have a bank there?

A "bank" usually involves lending and depositing money, which I don't think it quite what you want here. "Safety deposit box" or "storage facility" might be a more accurate term for your idea.

Having said that, I don't quite understand whether your idea allows for me to "deposit" Flail of Ages in the Government District and then picking it up in Brynnlaw later on. The item can't be in several places at once, and I don't think it's practical (or even possible) to make copies of it. Sure, I guess the "storage facility" can move all your stuff at the same time as you leave Athkatla, but there are logical and economic inconsistencies with that notion too. How would they know that you're leaving? What are the costs for the shipping of all those items?

I fear that it won't be feasible to have this kind of service available to the player. If it's going to be both convenient and make sense at the same time, the cost for the player would be very steep. And I can't see my protagonist coughing up that much gold for something he can do himself without any cost--especially when it would be easier than having to visit the facility when wanting an item.

If this idea is just to have an early-game substitute for the Bag of Holding, then I would rather suggest using... the Bag of Holding. Adding it into a store in Athkatla (say, Ribald, for example) would be easier from a modding perspective and more plausible as well.

Great idea, by the way. I recall that G3 Tweaks doesn't add Bags of Holding early, only potion bags... maybe a mini-mod, people? (Only Bag of Holding, no extra Axes +5 or seventeen new dragons in Bridge district). I'd play it. Er, when I play BG2 again, that is.

Gah, my download speed is horrible today! Can you PM me the tp2, which is all I want to see.

Pfeh. All you did is add a BAM.

COPY ~Mod~ ~override/~ //contains only BAMs.
COPY_EXISTING ~bag04.sto~ ~override/#!bag.sto~
COPY_EXISTING ~bag04.itm~ ~override/#!bag.itm~
WRITE_ASCII 0x3a ~IHOLE~ #8
WRITE_ASCII 0x44 ~GHOLE~ #8
WRITE_ASCII 0x58 ~CHOLE~ #8

Patching is ftw. This saves d/l space. :P

But making it is near impossible, really. It would take a lot of work, to say the least.

The most practical way of making a "bank" in this fashion would be to use a pocket plane like in ToB. I looked through my DM guide and found an item known as the Rod of Security. Essentially it works similarly to the pocket plane ability you get in ToB.

I started working on making such an item and am having reasonable success. The only issue I have right now is with the area script which sends you back to where you came. Once, that's done, I should be able to start testing.

'teleport mods' like PlanarSphere Return might provide some insight.

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look at it and see if I can adapt the script to my mod.
