A new website, Baldur's Gate, Some of the source code is interesting.

<!-- February 13, 2012 -->
<!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine -->
<!-- oh dear it's coming soon -->

Now, this might be some sort of fake. Or joke. Or Chris Avellone's musing about a kickstarter project may have some substance.

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

...It *may* be related to this: http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=2491920

Or maybe not. Looks to be interesting either way. :)

Asc64 is going to hate this a lot.

Oh, you are so going to love recoding Widescreen as well....

From the page source code as of today:

<!-- February 28, 2012 -->
<!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine -->

<!-- For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. -->

<!-- And then... it returned. Better than it was before. -->

<!-- Pore over the tapestries and works of art hanging from our walls if you wish, Child of Bhaal... perhaps you will find a clue. But patience, ah... patience would reveal it all. -->

The domain is owned by a guy who used to work at BioWare, and now runs Beamdog studios, who did the HD remake of MDK2. Interesting tidbit :)

Well, looks very interesting. I wonder if they took Asc64's TobEX and Bigg's Widescreen into account? I'm also wondering if this is going to be a HD remake of the game.

Either way, I'm hanging on to my GOG-purchased copy of the game.

Mark me down as "cautiously optimistic"... If this was an HD release of BG or BG2, I'd be totally ecstatic... Wait and see though.
I love what they did with the source code though... "Raise Dead : Infinity Engine"... And David Warner's voice echoes in my head with "For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory."

Wait and see, I guess.

At the bottom of the sourcecode is this:

I love how more than 10 years after the fact, this series of games just won't die. DaO remakes, GoG releases, Steam releases, DVD sets could still be found on the shelves of stores as recently as 2 years ago (in Germany), and now this. :D

Although if they are doing a rerelease/remake they would be hard pressed to match up to what the modding community has come up with in over 10 years of time to play around. ;-)

Also: dear Bhaal, please let this be an iPad port that doesn't require me to crack my iPad

The site has been updated again. Still with the "Raise Dead : Infinity Engine" message, but right after it:

<!-- Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm! -->

And at the end:

<!-- I can teach you how to use your wrath. -->

Well, umm, yea. Also, Youtube video at http://www.youtube.c...d&v=wpPU-MtBqrA related to the whole thing. Uploaded by "Beamdogger", but I don't know if this is the same guy who is doing the site.

Still, I'm wondering if some of the more famous/active modders will assist in the project.

EDIT: The video is fan made, according to Trent Oster's twitter account.

IF it is a HD remake of Baldur's Gate, I doubt I will even play it unless it is compatible with my favourite mods or deliver the same functionality. No amount of delicious graphics can make up for loss of gameplay.

Now a HD remake in D&D3.5 or Pathfinder, THAT would make me drool like a motherfucker.

:WTF: SITE HAS BEEN UPDATED AGAIN :WTF:

From source code:
<!-- March 5, 2012 -->
<!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine -->

<!-- "She left me to die. YOU left me to die. But Shar... Shar wanted me to live." -->

I was so kind of praying for Obsidian and Bethesda were getting off their butts and making us BG3 finally. I think the BG3 desire in me is approximately a million times that of Duke Nukem Forever.

Please be an HD remake, please be an HD remake, please be an HD remake...

I have to admit that if they're announcing a BG3, I'm going to be annoyed as heck. BG2: ToB had a nice ending, which tied up all loose ends, and provided closure; what the heck is wrong with that...

I'm betting something like a multiplatform (ipad, consoles) re-release, maybe also use BG2 engine for the 1st part a-la-Tutu.
