I like it when it's used well, I hate it when it's overused. For example, If the guy from the screenshot is JUST an innkeeper, I don't care about his thick eyebrows and silver tooth. I want to get my drink, information, or whatever else he is selling, and be on my way. Also, why every line of his dialog is separated from the rest, that's just a lot of pointless clicking on the "next" button.

*shrugs* I kinda like it. And I like how they're describing mundane things, like the innkeeper's silver tooth. It makes them seem a little more...real.
So long as they don't go overboard and give me a minute description of the dry brown maple leaf that softly crunched beneath my character's right foot as she lightly set it down on the soft and moist forest floor, I'm fine with it.

I'm one who loves the Torment style with descriptions and dialogue in citation marks - it adds flavour and visualization. Of course, I do think the "one character line for every line of dialogue" is a bit awkward.

Figured responding here would be best -- I'm sure there'll be a backer update about the delay soon -- it sounds a little like it was announced prematurely, but I could be wrong!

Yeah, my bad, I should've posted my comment here, but I was in a bit of a hurry.
I agree, K, they'll send out a backer update soon enough, I suppose. But it was a bit jarring to find out via the news, rather than in a backer email. No biggee, though, and in the end, I'd rather have a release date pushed back with a polished game, rather than an unfinished one that was shoved out the door.

This quote kinda states the obvious and true thing about the reason why the delay has not been announced:
"... Until we get really close to releasing the game we don't want a specific release window, because we're not a publisher, we don't have to! Virtually nothing good comes from us releasing a date before we're very confident in it. It's not going to be in spring; we're going to be working into spring to get alpha done because it's a big game."

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks for sharing. Any new updates?
None so far. I backed the project, so you can be certain I'll keep the news thread updated when I hear anything.

Update #91: Closing in on March 26
Can we nominate this as the worst subject title/headline ever ? Grammar lesson, do not use those words in that order. Use "Closing in on release, on 26th of March." "We are closing the studio on March 26th" ... "Inside the studio: The tomahawk missile system is closing in on March 26, bye."
Well, cause there's no reason ...unless it's a hint that they'll close the game studio that day and walk home to never return, as in, even worse news, as they throw the anvil to the well on the project, life and ... see, it's that bad.

So, is anyone else playing this?
I think I'm about half-way through, and I have to say, it's probably the best RPG I've seen since Mask of the Betrayer - and if it continues the way it's going, I think it might be stronger than BG2.
The combat takes a little getting used to, but it does make sense, and it looks and sounds absolutely beautiful. The setting is very well realised - drawing on traditional fantasy, but also nuanced, intriguing, and surprisingly dark - but not in the crappy grimdark shock value way of Game of Throne or Dragon Age. There's a sensitivity and subtlety to the writing, that really elevates the setting and characters.
The plot is really engaging - again, darker and more nuanced than I'd expected - more Torment than Baldur's Gate, and the companions are interesting - I think actually improved by the lack of romances - seems to have given the devs more latitude to generate character concepts without having to make them appealing. The stronghold is a little lacking thus far, but the reactivity and variety of options you have in defining your character, and how they approach quests (and the sheer variety of them!) more than makes up for it.
I can't recommend Pillars of Eternity highly enough, especially to fans of the original IE games.

Wait until you see later all the awesome gameplay elements, like the massive number of spells you can use . The quests are great as well (played over 30 hours, and I still didn't reach the second big city)
