Hi all!
I'm playing BGT with some other few mods on my BWP.

Problem
Chapter 7
The problem is that after killing the two assassins in the undercellar in Baldur's Gate and retrieving the note with the information after i go to the Ducal Palace the guard outside doesn't give any answer that let me open the gate and enter.

What can i do for resolve this issue?

Thanks

If it might help i could list all the mods of my bwp. Also i've done several differente ways to go with the story line (first eltan, then throne iron and after undercellar and over mixed up) but it seems it is stuck.

Also with Shadowkeeper but nothing till now helped me. May be with the clua console? i Don't know, again thanks for your help

=(

Well the Weidu.log file has all the mods and version etc info on it, open the file with Notepad. Your story seems to just lack the invite item... it's a scroll on the assasin's... hmm, you might have teh wrong scroll there's two of them...

To get through the gate, you need to posses the invite to the party inside... and you might as well make sure you got it in the character's inventory you talk to the guard with.

Hi Jarno!

I've the scroll that was on the assassins! I've it on my inventory but the two answers of the guard in front of the gate of Ducal Palace are the same as i don't have anything. You said there are two of them, where are the second? Maybe Husam?

Thanks for your time

I've the scroll that was on the assassins! I've it on my inventory but the two answers of the guard in front of the gate of Ducal Palace are the same as i don't have anything. You said there are two of them, where are the second? Maybe Husam?

Well, the assassins have two scrolls, one is the invite, and the other is the laid plan description.
Erhm, the problem might be this:

~SETUP-BP-BALANCER.TP2~

So i've to run another installation and begin a new game from the beginning or i have some hopes to find a work around for this problem?

Holy hold on right there lol :o Try CLUAConsole:CreateItem('MISC78') before you scrap your install!

If you wanna help us debug why Slythe didn't have the scroll in the first place, please do a changelog of SLYTHE.CRE  (instructions here) The BP-Balancer doesn't have anything in its code that can make the scroll go poof btw :P

It does :D or how do you explain this post by Mindriel over at Kerzenburg?

http://translate.goo...ght%3Deinladung

Or this thread by Fouinto:
http://www.shsforums...699#entry493699

If Slythe.cre is in the backup of BP-Balancer, and BP-Balancer is the last mod that touched Slythe.cre, its obviously BP-Balancer's fault that the invitation is missing.

Hey! Thanks a lot! It worked, i've played BG1 last time in the 2001 and i forgot how i could use the cheats in a "positive" way =)

I would be glad to help debugging the problem. I'll post here the change log of the .cre file.
Thanks again :P

Words promptly eaten then :D Yup, BP-Balancer has code that can do this - It's just replacing whatever is in Inventory slots 2 & 3 with random low value treasure  Problem is... BP-Balancer doesn't actually check what it's replacing!

In BP-Balancer's defense, it usually works because MISC78 is in Inventory slot 1 in the vanilla game :P

Attached is the relevant BP-Balancer file with those lines commented out (a missing invite is MUCH more serious than random overpowered loot)
... Who knows what BP-Balancer removes from other creatures that you might not have even noticed yet

I'm just thinking of blasting all of those REPLACE_CRE_ITEMs in that mod into oblivion now (Ideally it should check what it's replacing before replacing it) - A much more conservative way to fix this (and not entirely remove all of those REPLACE_CRE_ITEMs) would be to remove only those REPLACE_CRE_ITEMs that affect the INV slots

Erhm, shouldn't it actually make the items the creatures have in their inventory balanced... not blow the whole system sky high by replacing them with few gold coins worth not a dime for them. What if the table the mod uses to randomize the stuff... and we get SCS Sarevok go berserk on the account of the gaining the Cursed Berserking Sword +3, as it might be having larger damage output that his regular attack...
Yes, I remembered reading that the BP-Balancer hading tendency of doing the invite removal, and I found another thread where 10th actually said as much ... so I did my background on this. :D

That mod seriously needs an overhaul

I'd pick it up if it weren't for the fact that I actually go on a killing spree and laugh hysterically inside when I find a +3 sword of awesomeness on a gibberling instead of reporting it to the mod author for imbalance

That mod seriously needs an overhaul

That's why it was removed from the BWP, after it was specifically created for the BWP'es purpose...
Well, it's my thinking that the game doesn't need an rebalance of the original stuff... as the Item Revision and other mods do that quite well even in the BG1's case on the item replacements... it's the mod added items, specifically items coming out of mods like DSotSC/NTotSC, Stones of Askavar, Dark Horizon and Grey Clan that need a re-look around.
And yeah, the Ankheg Plate Mail should probably be a Full Plate armor with -1 modifier(AC of 2 etc), but still, it needs to be in the original places. Same for the BG1 version of the Ring of Wizardry.

Hi everybody,

Words promptly eaten then  :D Yup, BP-Balancer has code that can do this - It's just replacing whatever is in Inventory slots 2 & 3 with random low value treasure  Problem is... BP-Balancer doesn't actually check what it's replacing!

It does. Unfortunately not at compile time, but on a base fine tuned for the supported mods (DSotSC, NTotSC, SoBH). I always stated support for these and no guarantee for other mods. I consider changing this with the upcoming overhaul.

Erhm, shouldn't it actually make the items the creatures have in their inventory balanced... not blow the whole system sky high by replacing them with few gold coins worth not a dime for them.

What exactly do you mean?

What if the table the mod uses to randomize the stuff... and we get SCS Sarevok go berserk on the account of the gaining the Cursed Berserking Sword +3, as it might be having larger damage output that his regular attack...

This is not ging to happen, as there is no randomness within the balancer. Balancer will NEVER EVER add anything new having a +x. Just becuse of the fact, the replacements are set up _manually_ with the attempt to fine tune the supported mods.

The only randomness built in is your choice for the supported mods added custom items, to either remove all, on a random base, or leave them where they are. This choice is built in in respect to the authors of the supported mods.

Yes, I remembered reading that the BP-Balancer hading tendency of doing the invite removal, and I found another thread where 10th actually said as much ... so I did my background on this.  :D

The invitation is at itemslot 1. Before and after adding the supported mods. If another (unsupported) mod puts it somewhere else, it's just out of control with this release of the balancer... well it's just not supported.

As I mentioned above, I consider checking a bit more at compile time in order to prevent issues of that kind in the future.

Regards
