I'm having my own issues with the Textpack. While I try to extract it, it doesn't work. I test the integrity, and it comes back fine but it can't extract.

While it's trying to extract, I get this:

Checking BiG World Textpack ...
BiG World Textpack is included in another archive.

BiG World Textpack is included in another archive.
Archive could not be found.

Then, once it finishes extracting everything else, it opens a new window to give me an error message:

_Depend_SetModState could not deactivate 355 = BWTextpack = Big World Textpack(-)

Presumably it's related to the earlier failure, but I'm unsure how to fix it. I manually downloaded the textpack and put it into the downloads folder but it still gives the same issue.

I have already changed the BWS links for the textpacks from Kerszenburg to SHS, I think some users still used former BWS version.

@jastey

Here is what Alien in his big clean up has changed (i.e. all old Kerzenburg links set to manual)

https://bitbucket.or...f618180a8fefe41

I have meanwhile updated textpack, solaufein, adalon (sb_silber). For the rest, my statement here is still valid http://www.shsforums...54#entry600765.

In my case it's weidu-filechangelog, otherwise same issue. Though, I am not sure it is an issue since BWS still installs all the mods and game launches. All I can say, I am getting that error with EET install.

@Roxanne Thank you, that was after I told him that stable links are not possible with the current Kerzenburgforum software, but before telling that we are looking for a solution nontheless.

I will write here if mod downloads will change to a stable download link.

Can somebody enlighten me here, please.

I looked at the contents of the BW Textpack in the light of the previous reports. I cannot find that EE/EET games need any of it anymore.

What do I miss?

OK, so to try again, I just dumped my prior install of BWS and decided to start over.  I got the game files set up clean on their own separate Drive so everything is good there, Downloaded through Beam Client, installed, started and game saved for BGEE, SoD, and BGEE2.

I downloaded the BWS file from SHS, and unpacked it but haven't run it.  Couple of things:

Do I need to run the BWS InstallPack?  How about the BWS Fixpack?  Do these need to happen before I set up BWS to start an install?  Is there a better place to download the BWS Program from?  I have the Installpack, Fixpack, and TextPacks all saved so if I need to throw them into the download folder once it's created I can do that or do I just need to throw them in the BWS folders.

Sorry I'm such an idiot, I'm just an old guy that has loved this Franchise since the beginning and I'm pretty limited in how much computer stuff I can manage.  Thanks

It sounds confusing but...

1. You have the games and started them and did a save - fine

2. You download the BWS from here https://bitbucket.or.../get/master.zip

3. You extract it to somewhere on your computer but NOT into any of the game directories for BGEE or BG2EE

4. You follow the instructions from here https://forums.beamd.../comment/704157 step by step.

(In one of the steps, you will define a download location for the mods, you can put the unextracted mods or tools you already have downloaded there - BWS will find and check them, otherwise it will download them again.)

Perfect.  It makes good sense to my old burned out brain.  Your help is greatly appreciated Roxanne.  Now I know where to put things and hopefully BWS will be gentle with me.  Thanks a bunch.

Ajantis BG1 Expansion updates to v12. All changes refer to the German version.

This is the new, stable link to the download: https://www.baldurs-...load&version=18

Sweet.

Links worked for me, took me straight to a listing of links for BG Mods.  Thanks for the info, I'm doing a fresh install of EET tomorrow so hopefully it will be successful this time!  Now I have a good path to get any mod links though, thanks to the hard work of the folks here.  Appreciate you holding a newbee's hand!

Any idea why the install crawls when it installs SCS?

I installed BWS yesterday and everything finished in less than 1 hour including downloads. I uninstalled everything because I really didnt like the Sandrah mod gameplay and reinstalled BG1+2 clean then went into BWS to install again (tactical) minus Sandrah mods and now its been working on installing SCS for at least 3 hours. Its still installing and applying patches and such but why is this so different from yesterday?

I appreciate the effort going into this tool, but BWS is extremely buggy.

Yesterday it had a lot of difficulty downloading modes. I would say it got stuck on downloads at least a dozen times. They simply stop and in the end I get a report with a list of stuff that didnt get downloaded. I did a retry but it just kept happening so I got fed up with it and just download them manually which worked fine. It also had trouble extracting some mods for no good reason. They all extracted fine when done manually. After those problem the installation went ok and I played the game for about 6 hours before realizing I didnt like the game balance at all.

Today, despite having all the mods downloaded, it tried to download them ALL AGAIN!. Basically what I did is I went into the folder and made everything read only so it could not delete them. This actually worked and it skipped all the downloads and moved on to extraction. But like I said above, despite being nearly the exact same install as yesterday, today, its taking at least 3x longer (so far) and I am not sure when the SCS install will actually finish...

PS Sandrah mod should not be included in tactical installs. Its a well made mod, but not balanced at all. You get a +3 and +2 weapon from the start. Very not "tactical."

Just a quick update to the post above. BWS finally finished with SCS. So in all, SCS took nearly 5 hours to install... I am also alarmed about how many folders were created. The BG2 folder alone has over 5000 folders!?! Its still installing other stuff but at the least the bar is moving again.

Well, you are asking a single dude to go through several thousand files, and edit them several thousand ways. Yeah, that's going to take it's sweet time. It has always been so. And nothing can be done about is as ... really, as weidu is a single process though put system, which will result into the asking the single dude things it was not build for.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
