I'd really like to see how good the new update is, but I absolutely refuse to buy BG2:EE. After the terrible job Beamdog did with BG1:EE, I don't see a point. Not to mention I have day-of-release discs and a GOG download (for LAN parties) of the original and don't want to pay for an overhaul that could have been written faster, and better with an experienced modder. Do I HAVE to be running EE to use the newly updated Fade NPC mod, or will the original work?
Does Fade work with original BG2:SoA/ToB?

I can't say form a personal experience, but the code from what I looked at it would to me seem to work perfectly fine in a SoA or a ToB game,

The overwhelming majority of mods that are updated to be compatible with EE, like Fade, stay compatible with original. In fact, there are many "EE-only" mods that are still made usable by non-EE, even though some components might not be compatible.
