I've always wondered why there are no two-handed axes in Baldur's Gate. I have had the idea to make a mod to insert them into BG. The process I think I would use would be essentially taking the axes' info from Icewind Dale and creating items for BG using that info. I would add them into stores and change the items of certain enemies to make the addition of the axes seem more organic. I'm thinking that I would make it for BGT, and then cut out some content for a BGII/ToB version.

I'm also thinking that latter down the track I will create and NPC mod for BGT that either includes this mod, or comes as an accessory to it.

My questions are; would anybody be interested in this mod? and because I've new to modding, is there something that I've overlooked in my approach?

Any feedback or suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

I'd be very interested in seeing some 2-handed axes in BG2! How classic is an Orcish barbarian or berserker charging forward with such a weapon? I even have some custom characters who should definitely have one of them in their arsenals. I hope you find this to be feasible to code, and I look forward to the results!

Happy modding,
Eric

A female elf warrior of nature and a Bhaalspawn cross paths during their quests, joining forces to share adventure and companionship. Will they find more?

Dark Horizons for BG1 already uses these. The Undying version 3 will be using them as well. You basically have an axe that uses a halberd animation for the "two handedness".
Her lips were red, her looks were free
Her locks were as yellow as gold
Her skin was white as leprosy.
The Nightmare Life-in-Death was she,
Who thicks man's blood with cold.

After doing some research into the two handed axes in IWD, it became apparent that they exactly the same as halberds. Therefore, I reason that there is no point making the two handed axe mod. All it would do is make the axe weapon proficiency overpowered. (My mod was over before it began. :crying:)
