Ok, i finally managed to make my megamod working, this time without the joining party crash that occurred last time i tried.

BUT

of course something unexpected must happen, because otherwise things wouldn't be fun, right? -_-

The problem regards the language. I have installed breagar mod in both my two attempts of mega install. I remember that language of that mod was english. For some reason that i can't understand, the game runs in english like it should do, but breagar's mod has been installed with german language

Also, some dialogue with imoen (that i hope are part of breagar's mod) are in german too. Right now I just left candlekeep, so I don't know yet if other mods are installed in other language than english even though they should use english, as I chose EN in big world setup when I made the install...

Is there a way to change language of mods already installed and biffed? maybe using near infinity?

Did you use this english textpack because it contains english transtration for several mods including Breagar.

Sorry, as far as i know you have to re-install. :(  Let's hope that i'm wrong about this, maybe Imp  helps. He's the greatest. :P

Apparently I did install it in the previous attempt and didn't this time :(

Let's hope the imp has some voo-doo magic advice, I don't really want to do another mega install

edit: Is it possible to edit manually all the .tra files? I can open .tra files with an editor and copy/paste each line of text using near infinity (I already found the corresponding files). It surely will take time, but not as much as it takes to make a new install...

Well, the .tra files aren't the problem, the problem lies in the dialog.tlk.... what you can do now is you can replace the german lines with the english lines and then start a new game, as that's a must for this to work.

To do the above, you need to use the NearInfinity program... and make sure that it's the one from 2012-13... not from 2005... and you can search what you need to replace in the dialog.tlk via looking at the .tra files...

I officialli not understand what's going on. Yesterday I've made a successful install using BWP v12.0. I made an error forgetting to install language pack so I found breagar mod in german. Today I decided to make another install using BWP 12.1, making a couple changes, switching to 1pp v4 and removing lightmaps mod and finally adding BG graphic overhaul. I didn't change any other mod whatsoever. I didn't edit BWP 12.1 bat file.

First and second attempt of megainstall both stops without any error after the install of "drizzt is not stupid" mod. The install just stops, no warnings, no errors. Yesterday this didn't happen.

What's going on?

You know, the BWS might still work for a little bit longer. Things get much easier with it :)

It only stops functioning when a mod changes it's component numbers. I don't think many mods has done that since it stopped updating (only 2 months ago or something like that)

I might be wrong. But since you are having so much problems, why not test with it instead? I made a perfectly working install with it after it had been outdated, like a month ago.

If you are going to try, here are some pointers when dealing with this outdated BWS:

-The BWS seem to copy a MINSC.BCS that belongs to Neverending Journey into the install, but this is easily fixed with NearInfinity after the install finishes.

-If a mod has updated, but still has the same component numbers, it is safe to "[F]orce" it's usage in the BWS, when it complains that the filesize is incorrect.

-If a mod has updated, and the components have changed place, you could download an older version and give BWS what it wants.

-If you want to apply some changes made by Leonardo Watson in later BWP editions, you can do so manually in the BWS interface. And more importantly, you can add/remove whatever component you feel like.

-If you would like to add some extra mods (like the ones added by BWP12), then just tell the BWS to pause at appropriate places, and install them manually, then resume the BWS again. For reference on where to put the mods you install manually, look at the official BWP12 pdf (or use own judgment).

BWS was my very first attempt, and it has been a complete failure :(

The thing is that every time one starts a mega install, something unexpected happens... Yesterday I made a successful install besides the fact i forgot to install language pack, finding at least one mod in german. Today I just added the language pack and used a couple updated mods and the newest BWP bat, and install stops suddenly two times at the same position. The second time it stopped I've continued to install remaining mods manually (install stopped just before solaufein/kelsey group of mods so it was close to the end). Only generalized biffing remains right now, but i'll install it tomorrow because i'm too tired right now. If install fails again or i get some random nasty bug/crash that shouldn't happen, i'll give up :(

I get this error with a CtD whenever I leave the smith's house in Beregost:

"assertion failed in Ctiledobject.cpp at line 179. Tiled object resref not found"

What can it be related to?

My bet the Ascension64's BGT Berecost door fix is not working for you... do you use the BG1 graphical enhancement ? What clock is it when you exit the building ... any info on those would help...

I have installed BG1 graphic overhaul (if this is the one you mean) and the clock is set on hour 21.

I got another assertion error, same one as previous one, the only difference is the line number that is 244 instead of 179. I was outside the smith's house (didn't enter) and I moved the party to the jovial juggler. It crashed when I reached the corner of the inn

Is there a way to apply the fix if this is the issue? Hopefully without installing everything AGAIN :crying:

I replicated the crash also moving to eastern temple area and returning back.

I would suggest that you try and sleep somewhere and visit the Berecost only during the day hours...

Saw your other post but I write here instead.

I get this error with a CtD whenever I leave the smith's house in Beregost:

"assertion failed in Ctiledobject.cpp at line 179. Tiled object resref not found"

What can it be related to?

It is a bug from BG1 Graphics Overhaul that has to do with that mod overwriting .wed files instead of patching them. If a mod gets it's .weds overwritten, this error can show up. The only known mod so far that does this is Gavin and it only affects Beregost. But this bug should not happen if Gavin is installed after BG1 Graphics Overhaul. So any hotfix should not be necessary.

Now, it seems like your problem is a little bit different. When I had this bug, I simply could not enter Beregost at all (no matter day or night). But my error was of the same kind as yours. As they are clearly related you should probably post this in the BG1 Graphics Overhaul forum.

BG1 Graphics overhaul does backup the files it overwrites, so in my case, since I installed the mod very late, I could just restore it's backup and I got the version Gavin put there for me and my game worked again but Bergeost reverted to vanilla. Since you presumably installed it early, it gets trickier to solve it.

What you could do is (for test) go into the Gavin folder and find "backup" and then copy AR6700.ARE and AR6700.WED into your "override" folder. This will revert the changes Gavin did to this area (so, I don't think Gavin will work properly anymore, but this is just for test)

Now, if the crashes are gone, it has something to do with Gavin. If they are not gone, it's something else, or some other mod interfering. Either way, delete AR6700.ARE and AR6700.WED from the override folder again, and then report this bug with the info you got. Yovaneth can maybe help you out. You can also export the problematic AR6700.ARE and AR6700.WED with NearInfinity and then post them there for analysis.

Hope it helps :)

Thanks for the reply, actually i'm going through a new install fm the beginning, because probably my last attempt failed after I installed manually all the mods after "drizzt is not stupid" mod, whic was the file that made my megainstall stop with no error messages. It is very possible that i screwed something during the process, so right now I'll made a new install from scratch using latest BWP v12.1.1, removing a few mods and adding a few others, and then verify if the Beregost bug happens again. If so, I'll post in BGT graphic overhaul forum.

In the mean time, thanks for your reply, it helps me a lot !! :)

IT happened again !!!

I thought it was a problem of "drizzt is not stupid mod", but apparently it's not...

Again, the megamod install stopped without error messages, after the last mod of section 19 "BG2 rules tweaks and spells" is installed...

WHY !?!?!?  :(

I have no errors whatsoever in BiG World Debug file, the install just stops here, but i have tons of mods yet to be installed...

Mods I installed in group 19:

D0QuestPack_v23

fadingpromises-v6

npc_tweak-v5

spell_rev-v3.1

Teleport_v14

UnfinishedBusiness-v19

All got installed with no errors, the last one being Teleport_v14, then DOS window just closes. Baldur.err file is empty.

What's happening? :(

edit: I've checked BWP bat file and found that, in the part that regards the transition from group 19 to group 20 of mods, the only difference between BWP v12 (which is the last version of BWP that didn't have ths problem for me) and v12.1.1 is this line:

v12
%IFS%parting%S%parting.exe %SK% 0 2 | %M%
v12.1.1
%IFNS%SCS%IFNIF%stratagems%IFNIF%BG1NPC%IFS%parting%S%parting.exe %SK% 0 2 | %M%

The rest of that part is the same for both versions. Could that be related to my problem? I haven't installed neither SCS nor parting company mods. Maybe that is why install stops?

Baldur.err file is empty.
That file has nothing to do with the installing of the mods... it's actually a file the game prints short error log in case it crashes ...

What might be going on is that the BWI.bat has a pause -command on the step so you could manually install a mod... the pause -command goes back to normal when you push the ENTER button, but at this point I have no way to verify that... not having the files etc...

Hi Imp.

Pause doesn't close DOS window so it's probably not that.

Gaspare:

If you don't install Parting Way mod remove the line or comment that line like this:

:: %IFNS%SCS%IFNIF%stratagems%IFNIF%BG1NPC%IFS%parting%S%parting.exe %SK% 0 2 | %M%

Maybe it helps, good luck. :new_thumbs:

No, bat-file doesn't resume it starts from beginning. But if you remove all lines from start to that point bat-file start from it and install is resumed that way.

That probably works i hope.
