I commented all the lines before group 20 mods. If I start the bat, the DOS window just opens and closes after a microsecond, doing anything

edit: nvm, using rem instead of :: just solved the problem. Now install has started again!

Wohoo, thanks !!!

Hi Imp. Pause doesn't close DOS window so it's probably not that.
Well stopping is not the same as closing the Dos Window... Of course I could have been wrong and thus also Gaspare been using the wrong term... not my bad.

Well, i wasn't correcting you because you were right. :P  I was just saying that pause isn't the problem it's something else.

I'm not that good at using english language so i make lot of mistakes.  Sad that people don't use our native language. :P

Is it safe to install a couple components from infinity animations at the end of the megainstall, BEFORE biffing?

I have forgotten to unrar a couple content rars (NWN_misc stuff and NWN_modron)

edit: uhm actually I've checked and those two components have been unzipped correctly into the content folder in infinity animation directory. That component won't install though, it keep telling me that some files have to be unzipped...

Ouh yeah, it's pity people won't use tätä kieltä, och inte dett här språk heller, let alone same's language... that would be funny. Of ccourse neither of us would be good on that, if my assumption is correct... so it kinda would defeat the purpose.

Sorry to interrupt your semantic skirmish :whistling: but I'd have a new problem (of course). I hope you find the will to read because it probably will be long.

Yesterday in the end I managed to install everything in two steps, after the installation stopped just before starting installing mods from group 20 (ascension related mods). I commented out all the code in the bat until i reached that point, then restarted it and it resumed the install from where it stopped.

It kept installing all the mods with no issue until I encountered two problems: infinity animations (or better, the fiend component of infinity animations), and BPseries; the former didn't install the fiend component telling me that I had to unzip the files NWN_misc.rar and IA_NWN_01_Modron.rar, which I was 95% sure I did unzip. The latter installed but with a bunch of parse errors, which I guess is not good.

The installation proceeded with no other problems and added all other mods from group 25 and 26 (graphics and closer installation respectively), and in the end only generalized biffing remained, which I chose to install manually as final step.

Now, I decided (stupidly as I found in a second moment) to try installing again the IA component that was skipped (the fiend component), and of course I screwed everything after I chose "ask for every component" option and "skip all components that have already been installed", because install asked me to install anoher component (which I thought was already installed) and i chose the wrong answer. So, weidu of course started uninstalling every mod before that component (well they were not many luckily), installed the damn component (for the records it was "BG1 Character Animations for NPCs" which should have been skipped) and finally retry to install the fiend component, failing miserably. Then as I imagined weidu reinstalled all the mods whch were previously uninstalled, and I don't know why I kept out widescreen mod (probably second bad mistake i made).

Bat reinstalled all the mods in group 25 after IA excluding pack mule, and then the mods in group 26 (DEFJAM, BP balancer, level1 NPC, psionic unleashed, the damn IA component for NPC, worldmap and map labels, crefixer, poison supplements and lolfixer.

Probably all the install screwed here because bat wanted to install widescreen mod before crefixer and didn't find it.

In the end, I installed widescreen mod followed by generalized biffing, and when it finished i started the game. First thing, I got the infamous and totally unexpected "assertion failed in Ctiledobject.cpp at line 179" (and I thought: " good start!! " ); I fixed it editing the sound file with nearinfinity and finally the game started. In the PC creation window though, most kits were missing, including psionic kit. Anyway, I created a PG, started the game and BAM, it just CtD with an "appcrash" message.

That's the story exactly how it happened. Now I'd like to know a couple things:

1) why the IA component hasn't been installed even if all the files were in the right spot

2) why BPseries gave me so many parse errors when the previous time I installed it no problems happened

3) if widescreen mod installed in a different position can screw things so much

Is it just bad luck? Am I cursed? Every time I make an install something happens, and a mod that previously installed correctly the next time presents errors. WTH ??? :(

Sorry about that semantical stuff... it just got off topic a bit... now back to it.
1. Well, I my self actually have no clues on how to get the IA file composition correctly set up so it installs correctly... Leonardo Watson can, but I have trusted the BWS on that...

2. Well it might have to do with the Reinstall at the IA phase... I would expect the un&re-install to not to have gone correctly ...

3. There's no worry on the Widescreens part unless you notice GUI oddities ... like these.

Sorry about that off-topic stuff.

This is long shot but Infinity Animations has codepage issue. Here's from readme:

Spoiler

I don't know do you have english codepage but it could be problem.

As for the problems with BPSeries and Widewcreen mods i don't use those mods so i don't anything about them. Sorry.

I hope that Imp or others could help you. I'm only hardcore player not modder or expert fixer like Imp and others.

Quick update: today I made the 4th install in 4 days, and of course not everything went as expected :new_thumbs:

Install stopped as usual before group 20 of mods, but this time the edited bat (with all installed component "rem-med") didn't work (CMD window just opened and closed after a second rofl), so I installed mods of groups 20-26 manually, doing things very carefully with the aid of the marvellous pdf guide.

This time I didn't have problems with Infinity animations, I've checked all the files and indeed either those two file that caused problem last time were bad downloads or (more likely) I forgot to unrar one of them. Anyway, that part of the install ended without problems.

I again ecountered the problem with BPseries, same as previous time (bunch of parse errors when installing the last component). This is the error in debug file of the mod:

[tb#_compile_eval_buffer/bpseries\lib\crogue\source\bpcrogue.baf] PARSE ERROR at line 662 column 1-48
Near Text: )
[CheckStatGT] argument [STATE_DISEASED_FIX] not found in [Stats.IDS]

[tb#_compile_eval_buffer/bpseries\lib\crogue\source\bpcrogue.baf] PARSE ERROR at line 680 column 1-48
Near Text: )
[CheckStatGT] argument [STATE_DISEASED_FIX] not found in [Stats.IDS]

[tb#_compile_eval_buffer/bpseries\lib\crogue\source\bpcrogue.baf] PARSE ERROR at line 699 column 1-48
Near Text: )
[CheckStatGT] argument [STATE_DISEASED_FIX] not found in [Stats.IDS]

[tb#_compile_eval_buffer/bpseries\lib\crogue\source\bpcrogue.baf] PARSE ERROR at line 717 column 1-48
Near Text: )
[CheckStatGT] argument [STATE_DISEASED_FIX] not found in [Stats.IDS]

[tb#_compile_eval_buffer/bpseries\lib\crogue\source\bpcrogue.baf] PARSE ERROR at line 739 column 1-42
Near Text: )
[CheckStat] argument [STATE_DISEASED_FIX] not found in [Stats.IDS]

This time also one component of lolfixer didn't want to install (more precisely, component 14  "majestic spell fixer"). Debug:

[BALDUR.BCS.BAF] PARSE ERROR at line 6783 column 1-54
Near Text: GODLATHANDERtw
    syntax error

[BALDUR.BCS.BAF]  ERROR at line 6783 column 1-54

ERROR: parsing [BALDUR.BCS.BAF]: Parsing.Parse_error
ERROR: [BALDUR.BCS] -> [override/BALDUR.BCS] Patching Failed (COPY) (Parsing.Parse_error)

[Innate_Fix/backup/0/UNSETSTR.0] SET_STRING uninstall info not found
Will uninstall 636 files for [SETUP-INNATE_FIX.TP2] component 0.

Last mod that didn't want to install is "innate fix" mod. The debug returns the same error of lolfixer.

Lastly, it appears that psionic kit isn't working correctly, but I think i'll exclude that from next attempt (if there will be), so i'm not really worried about that.

I started a game and this time I got it working, but tomorrow I'll try to play a few hours and see if something weird will happen.

Is that component of lolfixer important or I can play with no worries?

I just want to chip in here that, at least in my experience, if the install has parse errors anywhere, that is definitely not a good sign for game stability. It can well mean that the mod that caused the parse error broke the entire install. Or much worse, it broke something in late game that you will only find out then.

I know that the mod causing parse errors usually tries to uninstall itself, but like The Imp already has said, I would not expect that to work. At least in my experience, a weidu uninstallation has never been fault free.

My rule of thumb these days when i do a mega install is that the installation should not have any error and that is that.

Also, yes that component of lolfixer is important. Probably it's most important component in fact (yes you seem to be a lucky person :D) and the game will be very crash happy without it. Unless you installed the "set inates to level one" mod or whatever it is called but I think it is skipped now when lolfixer exists.

Edit: Ah, I see the innate fix mod also fails. That is not good and the game will not work well. Wish I had better news.

Good to hear :coolthumb:

Ok. In my LAST attempt of a megamod, I'll switch from BP to SCS/SCSII, so I avoid installing BPseries that caused the first parse errors. This way, hopefully, I'll also avoid lolfixer errors, and everything should be ok. Unless of course SCS and SCSII break something in between :whistling:

EDIT: Erhm, this is with the the "last I heard about it," add on to the "..."'s
The two things have nothing in common... just know that you might miss a few items that when lost will bug the game more... if you install the item part of the balancer.

The names ... yeah, it was actually a BiG World Balancer when it first came out... ... and the above bug made it useless kinda.

They are already fixed locally. I will upload the new BWP v12.2 this week

This time also one component of lolfixer didn't want to install (more precisely, component 14  "majestic spell fixer").

This is caused by Level1NPC if Refinements is installed before. However, this would not happen when you use the install.bat because it has a workaround for this.

Thanks Leonardo!

Yeah, I got t install manually all mods starting from group 20, so probably i missed the workaround.

By the way, right now the install  is running and it passed the critical point, it didn't stop without errors like last attempts i  made. THe difference between this install and previous ones are BP and BPseries that I left out in favor of SCS and SCSII. Probably something related to BP, which is the first mod installed in grup 20, was causing the installation stop for me...

Meh, this time Install was mostly successful, there are only 2 problems:

1) aTweaks components regarding P&P fiends, undead, mephits, fey, elementals have not been installed due to errors. Other components have been installed

2) MTS crappack has been deliberately skipped by the bat although I have unzipped it correctly in SoA directory and it was listed in the available mods at the beginning of the installation process. I've read in the pdf that it is required for Kelsey ToB to work properly, so i guess i won't use Kelsey in ToB...

Besides these two problems, everything has been installed successfully and without errors (included lolfixer majestic spell that failed last time :) ).

Let's hope I can finally play without worries !!!

1) Did you use aTweaks v4.01because it has this problem. You should use v4.03 as i mentioned Leonardo here.

2) MTS crappack has many components for many mods (including Kelsey). What components are installed depends on your mod choices.

Dammit, I downloaded 4.03 but installed 4.01 because I forgot to update my unzipped folder (the folder where I keep mods I've chosen to install already unzipped and sorted by group, each one in its own folder). Well, I hope those components aren't critical, they change stats of demonic creatures, I guess i'll stick with standard version of them...

About crappack, I didn't change any option in the bat file, so components installed are standard ones, namely "paladin patch by falkentyne", "all blunt dwarven thrower", "quest pack compatibility patch" and "kelsey compatibility patch".

So besides the first two which shouldn't be critical, there is the "quest pack compatibility patch" other than kelsey patch. Is that one important?
