She needs to be a mage of some sort in BG2 so she can be arrested by the Cowled Wizards for... wizardry.

I know, I know. It's just that I was disappointed when BioWare chose Imoen's class for players instead of letting them decide. :D

I don't suppose Imoen, if she were a mere thief, would keep a few magic missile scrolls within easy reach? You know, just in case.

I heard they did it because lots of people dualclassed her to a mage in BG1 anyway. :)

Why? Are regular thieves too weak?

Why not just make her a thief and let the player decide when to dual class her to a mage?

Andyr answered this for you, no need for more words ;) .
And the Swashbuckler kit seems to be more fitting to her personality than the pure thief class, at least this is OUR opinion.

Here's an idea to shoot down. Imoen as a bard!? Bards have thieving skills and they cast magic missiles to boot. Although the whole singing part seems out of character for her, IMO.

The only objection to Imoen being a thief is the opening cutscene where she gets arrested for using magic. You could tapdance around the issue by having her cast Larloch's Minor Drain since she's a Bhaalspawn, though.

Tapdance is a good word for it. Wouldn't your PC casting Larloch's Minor Drain (or anyother innate ability) attract the Cowled Wizards as well? I thought only arcain magic attracted them.

There's also the matter of her lines where she talks about being a mage.

Nope, Charname's Bhaalspawn abilities don't attract the CWs either. Plus the fact that you shouldn't know she's a Bhaalspawn until, say, chapter four.

Ok, I'm going to post the (already proofreaded) Imoen's doc on a separate thread.
I think this component might be appreciated by BG1 and TSotSC players, as it tries to offer a bit of continuity, too.

It seems there's also enough agreement between us about this version of Imoen (for once!!!!! :P)

Ever forward, my darling wind...

CamDawq's components (Weapon attack animation fixes and SoA World Map fixes) added to the list for v1.
The Balthazar component changed a bit.

w00t! Just for the record, if there are any bugs with these components, they're from Littiz's conversion. The original coding is flawless. Flawless, I say. ;)

OK, I've tested those abilities, here are the results:

-The Water Elementals and Ben-Hadar work fantastic, they are as they should. They use ranged weapons, and move very slow (Ben-Hadar a bit faster). To make their movement more real, I've also added a grease animation to them, so all-in-all it looks nice :) !

With all due respect, the water elementals in Icewind Dale do look nicer overall than liquid tentacles. :)

You may be right Longinus, those elementals look good, if not better - still, IWD elementals are very similar, only their skins are different - since BG2 elementals seem to have more noticable differences, I decided to use the ToB WE avatar instead - trust me, they DO look nice anyway ;)
In addition, its nice to have a ranged-support elemental with the party, and ToB WEs are just for that.

Ok, but I'm still waiting for my unarmoured yet hooded thieves and better equiped yet not too challenging Shadow Thieves in Irenicus' dungeon. :D

Do you think that getting rid of the normal thief avatar (without hood) would be a good idea? It adds greater variety I think, and almost everyone uses at least a pure leather armor on his/her thief... any reasons behind this?

Agreed, the current versions aren't really well planned.

Thieves are hooded without armour in Icewind Dale and it works well. Thieves were also hooded without wearing armour in Baldur's Gate. The main advantage is, of course, that bards can use the thief skin instead of the aweful priest skin (as they did in the aforementioned games) and that thief/mages keep their hooded visage while not wearing armour. In other words, they look cool. :)

The thief paper dolls are hooded too, regardless of what they are wearing. I never really expected anyone to actually accomplish this with a mod but many thief fans preferred the hooded look. Some have made leather armour that allows spellcasting just to keep their hoods when their thieves dual class to mages.

It's something that bothers me as well Longinus.
ATM I don't know if it is fixable though.
Consider it in the list of things to consider :P

I'll try to investigate this issue further after we finish the work on v1. It has low priority for now however.
