#594248 How to cheat?

Posted by Hobomaniac on 25 March 2017 - 11:26 AM in Mega Mod Help

Okay. I passed them without the cheat

I pulled the difficulty slider to the left, and I beat them....it took me 3 hours!!!

3 hours! Changing tactics at every try. But I did it.

And the reward was huge. I won a lot of XP (I needed them badly) and my first magic weapons.

An encounter I'll remember.

exactly

I play with SCS, and they all attack me at once, even when not visible.

With SCS the combats are just amazing but the game has become so hard.

#594219 How to cheat?

Posted by Hobomaniac on 24 March 2017 - 11:58 AM in Mega Mod Help

I tried to change the difficulty slider....to no avail. They're waaaay too strong. :)

I did some research and found which mod those dwarves come from. It's Dark Horizon.

The name of the dwarf is Gorken Bloodaxe, he's accompagnied by a bunch of Duerdin Dwarves, and he's got a....bloody axe. He just chop off my whole party within a few seconds.

I should have tweaked this mod better. But anyway.

I will try the cheat tonight. Hope it breaks nothing. Because my megamod is working so well for now. (I have 335 mods)

#594216 How to cheat?

Posted by Hobomaniac on 24 March 2017 - 11:15 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hello,

I'm running a BGT megamod, and I encountered a band of nasty Bounty Hunter dwarves in the Nashkel Mines.

They're way too strong. They kill me almost instantly.

I don't know what mod they come from.

But I understand that the only way to pass them is by cheating.

So I wonder what is the best way to do it.

There is a command : CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()

And it enables the following cheat :

CTRL+Y  --> kills the creature under the cursor.

I haven't tried to switch my game to cheat mode yet, but I read that this command can break the game and prevent some quests from advancing.

So I wonder, what is the best way to get rid of the dwarves?

Thank you.

I noticed that the fixpack didn't succeed at patching ACBre.

And even if the mod installs OK, that's not good.

So I will try the new fixpack files with the v7.00b.

It's ok Mic. No problem.

I've spent a whole afternoon on that breagar stuff, but It was worth the pain. Because it's working now.

The v7.00b by White Angus doesn't work on my BWP 15.7 with the individual.bat method.

It's just doesn't work. I tried it all, even with the workaround here

I get the same ACVIRGI error no matter what.

But it happens the v6.09a installs perfectly. But in german. So as I said, I made an english version. The only thing I've done is replace all the german strings in the TRA files by english strings. That's it nothing more.....and the mod installed OK on a minimal BGT configuration but the strangest thing happenned when I attempted a FULL installation with all the mods enabled, it bugged!!! the exact same error as with the v7.00b.

Soooooo strange.

So....I applied the workaround (see the link above) to my custom 6.09a "english" version. I replaced the lines :

ACTION_IF FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~ACVIRGI.CRE~
THEN BEGIN
PRINT ~Bringe Virginie, dem unsichtbaren Wunderbunny, ein paar neue Tricks bei~
EXTEND_BOTTOM ~ACVIRGI.bcs~ ~ACBre/Virgi/ACVIRGI.BAF~

COMPILE ~ACBre/Virgi/ACVIRGI2.D~

END ELSE BEGIN
PRINT ~Installiere Virginie, das unsichtbare Wunderbunny~
COPY ~ACBre/cre/ACVIRGI.CRE~ ~OVERRIDE/ACVIRGI.CRE~
SAY NAME1 ~~
SAY NAME2 ~~
WRITE_ASCII 0x280 ~ACVIRGI~
WRITE_ASCII 0x2cc ~ACVIRGI~
WRITE_ASCII 0x248 ~ACVIRGI~
COMPILE ~ACBre/Virgi/ACVIRGI.D~
COMPILE ~ACBre/Virgi/ACVIRGI.BAF~
END

See the COMPILE command has been moved.

And it works.

But in fact, the COMPILE command is skipped now. As the program is executing the first condition only (he's checking for the file ACVIRGI.CRE).

Anyway.

Oh god what a chore. I must have mistaken somewhere to do all this.

I just hope I did well. I don't know.

#589117 Widescreen surprisingly working!

Posted by Hobomaniac on 23 July 2016 - 12:32 PM in Mega Mod Help

Ok it's not a big deal.

I regret I have asked.

You know what? I just love BWP. I come here once a few years to build a megamod and play it.

Last time I was there, I just had a blast building my setup. And I played the game for 2 years. And it was terrific.

But as I said in another topic, I lost my hard drive. And my megamod as well.

I just love the work that has been done here. I'm aware of it. And have no ill intentions at all.

Sometimes, my expression is misunderstood. But it's just that. My bizarre expression.

I'm not a Half-Orc. or whatever. I'm more...a little curious gnome. Tinkering and asking too many questions....with a good side alignement, of course.

Coming back to the Widescreen subject, it happens right now I have an old display monitor 10 years old. I play 800x600 on it.

I know soon I'll have a new screen. And new hardware by the way. And a new house...anyway, that's another story.

When? I don't know. I just wanted to know if I could switch resolution later. That's why I made the test.

That's all.

Nothing more. I would be sad to trigger a 3rd world war.

Imagine the death and the sorrow. Nuclear winter and radiation everywhere. Humans feeding on humans to survive...heh

I'm not that kind of gnome

I did it!!!

What I've done is finishing translating v6.09a!

I moved the TRA files from english to german folder (except one file acvigri.tra which is part of setup_ACbre.tra) and translated the few lines missing (with the help of mighty google and a bit of good sense)

And it works.

So now I have a proper working english version of Breagar 6.09a.

But clearly BWP v15.7 has a problem with Breagar v7.00b (a translation by White Angus), and I'm not the only one having the probem. See here

Or here

I had the same error.

But v6.09a installs OK, ...only in german.

...and now in englsh hehe (...my english anyway)

Breagar's voice is still in german though.

Switching resolution in a videogame may be an "exceptional event". But not for me. I do it fairly often.
Yeah. And how many times have you changed the Windows background size ?
I bet you do it 24 times a day, going from 3x2 to 7680x4320 just based on the feels.

Not 24 times a day but more often than you changing your pants

That would be great. Ive spent 2 hours trying to make it work. Ive added a LANGUAGE line to the tp2 file. But to no avail

The version v7.00b can't be installed because of errors.

The version v6.09a installs ok but is in german.

But no matter what, the mod is installed in german.

Is there a way to install that mod in english?

And my old one is almost dead.

I need to switch to 1920x1080

#589070 My BIG WORLD

Posted by Hobomaniac on 20 July 2016 - 10:27 AM in Mega Mod Help

I removed Breagar from my list. Because it's in german! and the TEXTPATCH has no english translation at the moment.

I added :

LEVEL 1 NPC

DARK HORIZONS

I don't care for Level 1 NPC (no offense to the mod author, I think it's a tremendous work), but this mod is there from the beginning and BWP is "built" around it. Many components depend on it. So it's an essential part of BWP. Plus, it's very customizable, so if you don't want to change anything, you can.

But...I removed component #3 "Joinable NPCs more closely match the player character’s experience". It's a more balanced solution, avoiding having overpowered companions. Progress now depends on your companions and not yourself.

As for Dark Horizons, I don't know why it was missing. A mistake.

Guys, I think you need to forget about NeJ2 at all. I'm watching Chev's walkthrough, and it makes me feel bad realising how much good things are missed there. I have almost completed NeJ Elements (NeJE), which combines BD, TS and Keldorn's Romance plus some quest extensions, improved original NPCs and so on. We'll start testing it next week. After that, improved NeJ3 with new big areas and fully compatible with NeJE is on the way. Then you may try and squeeze it all in your mega mod.

 Aaah. Great news.

I'd be happy to test it in my megamod as well.

#589060 My BIG WORLD

What is the best character to roll for the adventure considering my mod list?

I have rogue rebalancing, refinements and the expanded thief stronghold.

The wiser choice would be a thief or a bard.

But I don't like thieves.

And Bards are sissies. (no offense to the Bards out there)

Maybe a monk then. I have Swords And Fists installed.

It would fit the story so well...but no weapons. No armor...No food. No clothes...NO SEX! bah. not for me.

Plus, what would be my alignement?

Do I miss a lot of stuff, if I play a "good" character? Do I have to choose "neutral"?

I'll test it.

Report any bugs.

And maybe one day, it will be part of BWP.

That will be my little contribution :)

I consider BIIGER FONTS as being essential. I have good eyes. Im not 70 years old. But the writings are so small in 1920x1080. It's almost unbereable when you play for hours (I know I know I shouldn't play that long)

#589053 Widescreen surprisingly working!

Posted by Hobomaniac on 19 July 2016 - 11:29 AM in Mega Mod Help

Also, the files the Widescreen mod changes are those that the Generalized Biffing makes into a .bif... so to exclude it would make a president. Next will be making kings, overlords, prime ministers, exits from Enemy Unknown and pokemon WENT.
Now, there's a reason why the mods are installed in the order that they are set in... you can install the Item Revision last too... but it's generally not recommended to be the last mod either.

It should be very easy to op-out the Widescreen mod from the mod compilation and use manual install after the BWP/S.

Interesting.

And what do you think about Bigger Font??

Is it safe?

Like you said earleir about BWS also parameters/settings are for .... you know what.

Hihi. Yes. It was a little joke. for laughing

I've never used BWS but I have the most respect for it.

For anything that the community does.

And I'll tell you micbaldur, I'm surprised this forum hasn't got more people.

It should be burstling with people from all around the world.

I mean...it's a 15 years work, one of the most successfull modding saga ever.

It's one of the greatest achievement, just like like Falcon BMS, or the Elder Scrolls community.

#589048 Widescreen surprisingly working!

Posted by Hobomaniac on 19 July 2016 - 11:11 AM in Mega Mod Help

Well you can install the widescreen mod after the Gen_Biff yeah. BUT, yes, there's always that word.
In BG1, doing so will, after starting a game will crash the game every time you are or enter a smaller than the expected area the screen holds in the save... aka, as the game has a fairly many of those areas that are smaller than 1080i monitor can show, you are likely going to have one of them in your save. WHICH WILL ALWAYS CRASH YOUR GAME. And a .pdf that doesn't say that in some way with fewer words is not going to be good. As you can't fix the saves if your procedure ends up creating them.
I haven't run into this in BG2, cause the install is made little differently cause the engine allows it to be... but it's in PST, IWD and BG1, so it's still better be in there for that reason alone.
Also it should be noted that the Generalized Biffing was a replacement for the END_BIFF ... which was not able to uninstall in a weidu-chain uninstall procedure. Which would cheese your game anyways. So go ahead, and make tests that take 1000 installs of all the areas and then come back with an answer on how to do this better. We don't have the time to solve the possible freak out the game might just do for fun.

Thank you for that detailed explanation.

I started a new game, with a new save. that's why I haven't had any problems.

So if I install in the correct order (WS-->GEN BIFF) wil it be safe to change the resolution later? (I didn't get that point)

#589047 Jarl BGT adventure Pack vs NToTSC

Posted by Hobomaniac on 19 July 2016 - 11:03 AM in Mega Mod Help

When you install both mods, you have Svlast and Pillar NPCs twice.

Because they're included in both mods.

That's the conflict.

I wonder if it's ok. I'm sure it doesn't crash the game...but maybe I'm gonna avoid the adventure pack.

#589045 Widescreen surprisingly working!

Posted by Hobomaniac on 19 July 2016 - 10:56 AM in Mega Mod Help

I even installed Bigger Fonts for BG2 here

It seems OK too.

When you install Widescreen before the biffing, it takes a loooong time to reinstall (when you wanna change resolution). On some computers, it can take 2 hours. (on mine it's 30mn so it's ok)

Having The Widescreen mod AFTER Gen biffing makes it less painful to change the resolution. It takes only a few seconds.

Maybe it works with my modlist, but there may be other configurations incompatible with this method.

#589040 Widescreen surprisingly working!

Posted by Hobomaniac on 19 July 2016 - 10:03 AM in Mega Mod Help

I'm puzzled about the Widescreen mod.

Yes. Like everybody I think.

In the bible it says (page 281) :

In theory it may be useful to install the Widescreen mod after Generalized Biffing because you could uninstall the
widescreen mod again easily if you don't like it. However - this does not work. For some reasons the game will freeze.
Maybe an incompatibility arises with other .exe-patches that were installed before - I don't know. For the moment the
install order Thieves Galore - Widescreen - Generalized Biffing is the only working one.

Ok.

And I noticed on this forum, that people use to follow this rule. It's word of the Bible after all.

But...

I did the test.

I installed a megamod with nearly 300 mods (see post here) without the Widescreen mod. And then I applied it....over the Generlized Biffing.....and it seems to work like a charm.

I got no errors during the install.

I mean....I don't have any freezes or lockups. (I played for an hour or so)

What do you think?

Is it safe to do it this way?
