#501372 Changing conversation font colour

Posted by vilkacis on 22 November 2010 - 09:16 AM in IE Help

Questions on how to mod the game should go in modding help.

If you'd like to contact the author of "bigger fonts" directly, I suggest registering an account and sending a PM.

#491704 System Crashes with BG Megamods

Posted by vilkacis on 07 July 2010 - 03:53 PM in Mega Mod Help

Moved to mega mod help.

#485622 Vampiric Wolves!..

Posted by vilkacis on 22 April 2010 - 08:51 PM in Mega Mod Help

Vampiric wolves seem to have immunity to non-magical weapons only, so any kind of +1 weapon or better should do the trick.

Damaging magic works as well, though if you don't even have a single enchanted weapon yet, you probably don't have enough of that to take down a vamp wolf. You should probably avoid the area until you're stronger.

#485318 But Thou Must: Choice in Games with Obsidian

Posted by vilkacis on 19 April 2010 - 01:42 PM in General Gameplay

"Big words are hard right now!"

:D

Edit: The game looks pretty interesting, if they can live up to the hype.

Which no one ever does.

So it's probably going to suck.

Just saying.

I don't know if it's the same one, but   here's something like that.

#503271 help

Posted by vilkacis on 16 December 2010 - 04:19 PM in IE Help

Hello.

The Resource Request forum has rules.

You have obviously not read them.

Furthermore, your post is hurting my eyes.

Someone will move it back to resreq if you A, format it properly, and B, look up what punctuation is.

#488272 Yu gi oh card summoning

Posted by vilkacis on 25 May 2010 - 11:24 AM in IE Mod Ideas

This looks like a mod idea to me.

Anyway, the basic idea of special summons isn't bad. Especially for an actual conjurer like Edwin, having a summon that acts more like a familiar could be fun. Still, I'd prefer something from a... different source in this case.

#493601 Traveler's Stone

Posted by vilkacis on 03 August 2010 - 01:52 PM in IE Modding Discussion

Since it doesn't have anything to do with Bigg's stuff, I'm putting this in general modding discussion instead. :whistling:

#502490 Russian soundset

Posted by vilkacis on 08 December 2010 - 09:28 AM in Baldur's Gate Series

If this is for personal use, it doesn't go in resource requests.

If it's for a mod, you can at least try to follow the rules.

Moved.

#503073 ME3 trailer: the alternate soundtrack

Posted by vilkacis on 14 December 2010 - 10:31 AM in Mass Effect Series

I figured I should stop spamming the ME3 news thread with this, so: new topic, because I'm not done beating this dead horse yet OH NO.

The concept is simple: take the ME3 trailer, slap a new soundtrack on it, post it on the internet, INSTANT FAME. Whether serious or hilariously out of place - the trailer goes with absolutely anything you care to imagine.

Here are my original attempts:

Blue Öyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The Reaper - This shouldn't need an explanation.
Marily Manson - This Is the New Shit Shep - I will never let them live this down.

But the fun doesn't stop there! Other people have their own ideas, and some of them are pretty neat.

The B-52's - Rock Lobster - "Mass Effect needs more cowbell!"
Erasure - Always - "A nice counterpoint to all the death and destruction going on."
REM - Shiny Happy People - Because well, why not?
Blind Guardian - Sacred Worlds 1 2
Pokemon theme song - Grunt, I choose you!
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Teaser works ridiculously well, although the opposite doesn't work quite as nicely.
Blue Öyster Cult - Veteran of the Psychic Wars - This also syncs up pretty nicely

Make your own!

There are two easy ways to do this. Tubedubber lets you pick two youtube videos, shows the video from the first one and plays the audio from the second. Youtubedoubler plays two videos side by side, but has an easy box where you can control where the videos start - useful to skip long intros and such, or to match the music more closely with the video.

In either case, the ME3 trailer can be found here (and in many other places, certainly). The possibilities are endless.

#493092 Summonable thief?

Posted by vilkacis on 26 July 2010 - 12:42 PM in IE Mod Ideas

Solution 3: install this on top of Dutka, then buy the wand from Gorch instead.

Attached File  Wand of Dutka.zip   559.03K   224 downloads

Nothing fancy, just a wand that casts "Dutka's Thief Summoning" 5x/day and "Dutka's Greater Thief Summoning" 2x/day, and I'm pretty sure I managed to get it useable by anyone. Make sure you have Dutka installed first, though, as it uses the resources installed by that mod.

Try King Dutka's Thief.

Edit: readme.

Uh, right. Fighters can't cast spells from scrolls either. Duh, self.

How about both of you stop bickering like first-graders before I lock the damn thread.

#508029 Hud-B-Gone(tm)

Posted by vilkacis on 11 February 2011 - 05:28 AM in Mass Effect Series

So, you'd like Miranda to wear something a little less stupid, but are tired of Bioware putting dumb crap on characters' faces? So am I

Let's start with the easiest one. Here's Tali, before and after.
talivisor.jpg
Download this file here because the boards don't allow .tpf attachments.

Now, it gets more complicated.
gruntvisor.jpg mirandavisor.jpg
Get these here.

Grunt and Miranda's visors share a resource, so it's not possible to package them separately. However, this resource is not exclusively used by the DLC costumes. It also affects a few other things in the game.

garrusvisor.jpg shepvisor.jpg

(There may be others, but these are the most noticeable ones.) Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about that; it's either this or having random rings floating around in front of Miranda and Grunt's faces, and that's... not the purpose of this mod.

Also, I'm not able to remove the actual headgear from Grunt and Miranda. I tried just slapping transparent textures on there, but it resulted in weirdly black models, so let's not do that.

Texmod is needed to use these, instructions are provided under the link.

#502775 "The Surgeon" NPC construction site

Posted by vilkacis on 11 December 2010 - 07:20 AM in IE Mod Ideas

A few notes on stats:

  • Average stat totals for BG2 characters is 82.5 (83.2 in ToB).
  • The lowest stat total is Minsc with 73. (The highest is Keldorn with 89, beaten only by Mr. ToB with 95).
  • All characters have at least one stat that is average (10) or worse. (You have this covered.)

Your adjusted stats are low (71). Even the original stats are still below average (80) and I doubt anyone would accuse you of powergaming if you kept them (and you can just swap DEX and WIS and you have a legal mage->priest dualclass).

I'm usually the first to whine about overpowered NPC ideas, but as nice as it is to see someone take it in the opposite direction, you don't have to go that far. Even if you bump up your current WIS by one point, you'd still only end up with 72 points, and you definitely don't need to reduce them any more than that. (I'm not going to stop you if you want to do it, of course, but anyway.)

As for the class, it's no more complicated to do a necro->cleric dual than a wiz->cleric. It's just a matter of clicking mage->necro rather than mage->generalist in character creation.

#502308 Contingency problem - only one slot [BG2]

Posted by vilkacis on 06 December 2010 - 01:03 PM in IE Help

So you're telling me the Polish translation... lacks polish?

<_<

#502298 Contingency problem - only one slot [BG2]

Posted by vilkacis on 06 December 2010 - 10:53 AM in IE Help

"Upon casting this spell the wizard is allowed to choose a spell out of his repertoire of known spells. One spell level for every three levels of the caster is allowed up to 18th level or 6th level spells. Once the spell is chosen the caster is allowed to choose a condition of some kind from the list provided. The starting condition can be anything from reaching 10% of his/her hit points to an enemy being sighted. Once this starting condition is satisfied the spell that was chosen will be cast automatically."

You get one spell, the level of which can not be greater than [caster level]/3 or six, whichever is lower. The spell is functioning as intended.

Chain Contingency (wiz9) offers more options.

#485170 General Protection Error

Posted by vilkacis on 18 April 2010 - 07:15 AM in Mass Effect Series

How long are you waiting when the game doesn't respond? Because at least for me, ME1 loads extremely slowly, but it functions normally once it actually starts.

#490895 Mod request

Posted by vilkacis on 26 June 2010 - 07:35 AM in IE Mod Ideas

It doesn't belong there either. Both resreq and classifieds are for mods in progress, not personal stuff. Even if it had been a request for help with a mod, it doesn't follow the proper format for either of those forums.

I'm willing to consider it a "mod idea" (barely), so I'm moving it there.

#497342 GOG Offline / Back Online / Relaunch

It's amazing how the realization that a particular service is run by complete and colossal morons decreses my desire to use it!

#487378 New "Overlord" DLC revealed

Posted by vilkacis on 13 May 2010 - 05:59 AM in Mass Effect Series

According to executive producer Casey Hudson, Overlord is the "biggest downloadable content pack yet" for Mass Effect 2. Available in June for 560 points (£4.60, $7), it adds in five new uncharted worlds, amounting to a fully voiced, self-contained episode that can be played either before or after completion of the game proper.

#487435 New "Overlord" DLC revealed

Posted by vilkacis on 14 May 2010 - 05:19 AM in Mass Effect Series

So, what, you're saying you'll never replay the game?

ME2 has no hidden saves. Any save that has End Game State:LivedToFightAgain can be imported for a second cycle, and this is most likely what ME3 will go off as well.

Don't expect DLC misions to have any effect beyond *maybe* an email, anyway.
