I don't understand your point. BGII never goes near the city of Baldur's Gate. It's called "Baldur's Gate," not "Tales of the Bhaalspawn"

If I had a second vote it would be for Viconia. she's just so overrated.
#401319 What is your most common Bioware party?
Posted by Klorox on 20 June 2008 - 01:29 PM in Baldur's Gate Series
Jaheira
Aerie
I usually play a Fighter/Mage type. I find a 4 person party both more powerful than a 6 member party, and, most importantly, easier to control.

Smaller (4 person) parties work better for me as well.

Hi!!Can't believe there's so little love for poor ol' Haer'Dalis! Most excellent NPC evar!
Seriously though, I really do like H'D (my nickname for him). He's got some fun banters, was well thought-out (IMO), and is just a well put together guy. Sure, he's not too powerful, but that's fine.
My runner-ups are: Korgan (I love the vulgarity ), Anomen (against my better judgment, I gave him a try, and realized he wasn't that bad a guy), and Minsc (who just makes the game awesome).
-Arguskos
PS. This is my first "real" post here, so I should probably say hi... so... HI!!
Funny, I actually hear quite often that H'D is one of the more powerful NPCs. I've never actually used him for an extended time. I should give him a try.

Cernd doesn't help me in power or dialogue,.

I'll play again in the future now that there is an NPC project out there.

Cal Jones asked for advice. I gave it.Not all of us are epic powergamers Klorox!
Icen
The fact that an 8 INT and a 13 INT provide exactly the same amount of skill points for a Soldier/Guardian is pretty damn good advice IMHO.

But would you still kick and punch like a monk, or would you make barehanded attacks that just don't look right (just like an IWDII Monk)? As Choo said, you can switch to any paperdoll you like a the appearance tab. I used the elf-thief one.

The sprite is still human though, right? Is ther eany way to get an elf monk avatar? A dwarf (I played a dwarf monk when 3e first came out)?Name: Narra
Race: Elf (Avariel)
Class: Monk (I love Shadowkeeper)
Alignment: Depending on whether or not the taint is active it ranges from Lawful Good to Chaotic Neutral.

#407877 If BG3 was made...
Posted by Klorox on 28 July 2008 - 07:36 AM in Baldur's Gate Series
Lot's of other people found her!The PC's name must be Debbie, then. I tried to meet her in Dallas but couldn't find her. What? "<Charname> Does the Heartlands?"
That's exactly what I thought as well.I'd completely forgotten about the Portentous Men wearing Cowls of Doom and having Floppy Wrists of Death from the end of SoA. Does anyone know who the hell they were? Was one of them Mellisan pre-op?
I think they were the working concept of the antagonists from ToB. Anyway, I'd love to see a remake of every IE game in GemRB. It'd be awesome. That way, every single bug could be fixed and every mod worked in during the development process.
I think a prequel might be a neat idea, but no matter what it'll never be as good as the original. It's like making the Star Wars prequels. Better off to just let BG RIP.

LOL, well I want a Sorcerer darnit (but not as my protagonist)!!Well, when I played with Kelsey for the first time, I liked him. But when I tried to play with with for the second time, in the middle of SoA I rather deleted all the saves with and uninstalled the mod. The ever-present Ano-bashing was too much even for me. So I would recommend you to play with him just ONE time and then quickly uninstall him.
Happy Birthday, jcompton!

I'm playing (at least planning on) a small group again:
Elf F/M/T protagonist
Jaheira (SK'ed into a C/R)
Kelsey
If the Kelsey romance stinks, I'll just play the Jaheira one again. LMK.
#408094 It's not about good and evil
Posted by Klorox on 29 July 2008 - 03:51 AM in Baldur's Gate Series
LOL. My Wife loves that show.I should just say, I mostly use evil, as in the scale to rate killers(1-22)
I don't want to delve into philisophical debates over good vs. evil in real world terms. In D&D, things are a lot more black and white than in the real world.
If I'm actually roleplaying, it's easy to distinguish what's good and what's evil. If I'm just playing a video game, it's about getting as well prepared (or as powerful as possible) to tackle the challenges ahead.

#388732 Is this a sound solo strategy?
Posted by Klorox on 23 April 2008 - 02:51 PM in Baldur's Gate Series
Start in BGI (tutu) -- The tomes help so much. At least the physical ones (STR helps THAC0/damage, DEX actually increases AC (17-18 DEX), and CON grants regeneration. Higher amount of starting XP in SoA also helps in the beginning.
In BGII, concentrate on dual wielding, with ** in Long Swords, Bastard Swords, Katanas, and Flails (I'll have tons of proficiencies left over).
In Watcher's Keep, I'll be able to get the Purifier (Lawful Good). With that, and the Sword of Balduran I'll have a decent magic resistance. If I'm not fighting spellchuckers, I equip the Defender of Easthaven for more physical resistances.
When I get to ToB, my goals are on upgrading the Purifier for an additional 10% MR.
I'm choosing Dwarf for the better saving throws (I considered Half-Orc for the higher STR and DEX, but since this character is based on being able to take a beating I don't think it'll matter much).
After I think about it, maybe I'll go for Half-Orc instead. I'm not sure yet.
So, whatchya think?
