#578857 Which mods from Standard are too buggy and should be avoided?

Posted by dreamer2007 on 03 July 2015 - 10:51 PM in Mega Mod Help

Okay, thank you for the reply, Roxanne :) . Its good to know that the Standard mods are safe to use. I got worried mostly because I saw that Nej was in Standard, and it wasn't in the past, so I started thinking about this buggy mods stuff.

In my next install I would like to do a proper mod selection, and not end up like last time, with the game too buggy to finish. So, in your experience, which mods are simply too buggy from the BWP Standard and should be left out? Or mods that offer too little, for the risk of breaking too much, like the one day npc's?

I think so dreamer!

Great news! Thanks, Bill Bisco :)

Having played many hours of NEJ I can clearly say it is much better than IWD!

I always wanted to play it, but since it was included only in the Expert BWP installs in the past, I didn't risk it. So, is it truly safe to use now in Standard?

#579017 The 'official' BWP Fixpack thread

Posted by dreamer2007 on 07 July 2015 - 12:32 PM in Mega Mod Help

The Lolfixer should handle this in the next BWP and let you keep the ToBEx option active

When you say "next BWP", you mean this BWP? :D

#579556 Question About IWDEE Mod Install Order

Posted by dreamer2007 on 20 July 2015 - 12:53 AM in Mega Mod Help

The order looks okay to me, just FYI if the "Improved Archer" mod (I'm just now noticing that mod title is a bit presumptuous... :P) Anyway if it modifies the core Archer files instead of adding s new alternative Archer kit, then the Scales of Balance Warrior Tweaks (component #300) will probably conflict with it.

I agree. With Improved Archer and Scales of Balance, the Archer kit doesn't even show up. It is replaced by other kits.

#579324 Notes, Oddities and Possible Bugs in My BWP Game (Spoilers)

Posted by dreamer2007 on 14 July 2015 - 10:28 PM in Mega Mod Help

First big problem encountered.

CTD at Bandit Camp (AR8700.ARE) when entering to Big Tent (AR8701.ARE). Fixed by putting AR8701.WED to override, Quiet posted it here.

As usual i don't have idea what causes this (didn't check it any further), Quiet's WED works so back to playing BWP.

I remember having this problem in one of my playthroughs about one year ago. Glad there is a fix for it :)

Well I read through the thread from page 13 while travelling and there's a metric fuckton of stuff from what I gather. But meanwhile some points:
- WHY THE HELL DID ANYONE NOT START UPDATING THE BWPFIXPACK? Im sure someone knew how to branch out of git and stuff... I kept the thing in git for a reason :(
- we need MicMod :P
- its cute to know ive been missed

Im only done syncing up my mods to the latest stuff - just need another test install done to confirm - and then we'll try working towards getting every fix and patch in this thread into the fixpack

I'm happy to see you are back :D . I will wait patiently until you update the Fixpack. Also, I've read that there are problems with the fixpack and the Gog version of the game? Maybe you could look at that as well, not sure if it was covered here.

#579350 Notes, Oddities and Possible Bugs in My BWP Game (Spoilers)

Posted by dreamer2007 on 15 July 2015 - 07:55 AM in Mega Mod Help

Ah wait, I remember your case, it was caused by SCS (an old version - added a 2-hander with a shield to one of the bandits inside the tent :P)

Actually no :D. That was another bug, older, that was indeed fixed. And it was about skeletons :), way outside the tent.

I tried to find why you guys had crashes and the culprit mod here is NeJv694 :P

In my case it wasn't Nej, since I didn't install it last year - I had a recommended install. In the next install its the first time I'm considering trying Nej. But I didn't find out what it truly was either, and don't have the install anymore to find out :(

I'm still not far from the start point but it's looking really, really good and worth the money I put into it.

-Y-

Wait until you see later all the awesome gameplay elements, like the massive number of spells you can use :D . The quests are great as well (played over 30 hours, and I still didn't reach the second big city)

#578918 Can't find these Mods

Posted by dreamer2007 on 06 July 2015 - 02:39 AM in Mega Mod Help

The Imp was helpful for me to get things better (newest version of BWS & finding a few mods).  I will post a link.

Yes, please do. I want to start my standard install at the end of the week, and those mods were always present in my installs. I wouldn't like skipping them this time.

Hello :)

Crossmod Banter Pack I think is this: http://gibberlings3....ds&showfile=704

Ajantis I think here: https://kerzenburg.b...loads.php?id=62

Jastey's I think here: https://baldurs-gate...ead.php?t=43420

Couldn't find the other two. Maybe you can send a PM to Almateria since she's active on the forums, for Almateria's Quest 2.

Please post a link to your Let's Play series once you get started :D

Yes, please do.

Chevalier is referring to the eventual youtube content, but the BWS he talks about is just the most updated version that is available, which is not the bws_20150302.exe, but this one(yeah warning, that's a direct download link to the master branches zip file, which I talked about here, there and else where).

Thank you, Imp :)

#579937 BWP v15

Posted by dreamer2007 on 28 July 2015 - 11:41 AM in Mega Mod Help

Leonardo: BWP adds a ton of NPCs. More companions makes it easier to enjoy the game's content. 10 will be harder to manage sure, or I just may have more archers with me :) Balance is a relative thing. Mods can always add more monsters and traps. I look forward to more characters to assist in the Ascension fight. Eventually I hope for support for even more characters. We should be content with 10 and test that thoroughly for now.

I agree. But I remember that there were some mods already that could increase the difficulty to really high levels? I remember one had in the extra difficulty description saying something about pulling your hair out or something. That sounds balanced for 10 companions :D

#579775 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dreamer2007 on 25 July 2015 - 10:36 AM in Mega Mod Help

Soo, since the BWS was updated (Thanks for that!), is it time to start a new install? Does the setup have everything I need?

#578680 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dreamer2007 on 29 June 2015 - 07:40 AM in Mega Mod Help

Awesome words of encouragement, I think I'll try again today, just one more questions: are you using the GOG version of the game, and if so have you ever run across this problem? This is the exact issue I ran into last time but It's from an old thread and I didn't think newer versions of BWS would have this problem considering how popular the GOG versions are.

I am also curious if the install works fine with the Gog version of the game, since I've never tried one. I'm planning a reinstall, and with the Gog versions of BG1 and 2 it would be easier.. :)

#579577 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Does anyone know if Alien and/or Quiet left for good? They did not write anything or update BWS for over a month :(
If they left is there anyone who could take over their titatnic work?

It doesn't look good. It seems like they didn't visit the site since June :(

#579822 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dreamer2007 on 26 July 2015 - 08:02 AM in Mega Mod Help

Ok I got NeJv701, TSv705 and BDashv170

I have been thinking about the situation here - maintaining compatibility for the old versions of NeJ seems redundant with the new version out. Like cmorgan suggested, I too feel that we should drop all NeJ variants and redirect players to Vlad's PM thread so they can get NeJv7 if they want.

Thoughts?

Waiting for the public release seems like a good idea, so they can be integrated properly into BWP, and be installed successfully with BWS. But if you want to check them out and help Leonardo with the fixes that are needed once they go public, that would definitely speed things up :D

#578928 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dreamer2007 on 06 July 2015 - 05:02 AM in Mega Mod Help

Quick question. For the install, should I use the Install.bat? Or go with the BWS installer? I always used the install bat, and used the BWS only for the mod downloads, but since its so well mantained, I was curious if its safe using for the install as well.

[EDIT] By the way, my kids have never liked BG-BG2. They prefer Skyrim, Witcher and even Minecraft. My son said that BG is old, ugly, boring, lacks reality feeling and a lot of text to read. :) I guess it will be worse with time, so don't expect much that your kids and other kids will ever play this game or mods (unless you force them to play LOL).

Actually, one of the most popular games released this year was Pillars of Eternity, a game similar with BG is some ways, with "a lot of text to read" :) . Also other popular examples are Divinity Original Sin, and Wasteland 2, both highly successful, released at the end of 2014. So kids still like these kind of games, no matter if they have a lot of text :)
