Hey Sergio, I'm afraid removing account and all his posts will ruin integrity of discussions involved and in general will deprive audience of any knowledge contained in such posts, which is a really bad thing for community. Trust me on that, I am currently browsing a forum where one person freaked out at 2017 and removed all his posts starting from 2008 - it looks extremely ugly and make me mad to think about all the insights I have missed only because I didn't browse that thread 3 years ago.

 

If you are worried about your posts being done in the wrong place, don't hesitate to report such posts, it doesn't mean auto-ban or anything, it will just draw our attention to a place where something should be fixed, and I'm sure you aren't mistaken often enough to put a strain on us :) In fact, I already saw one of your :deleted: posts, but decided not to remove it without your request.

Hmm, could it be that you're trying to use non-cracked version of BG? I'm not 100% sure but what you described reminds me of how non-cracked version would act, so a good no-cd should fix that. Drop me a PM if you need one :)

That is weird. Your cre doesn't have effect #293 attached, so at this point I can't really say why does it function off screen. Unless you are making your NPC for EE and EE changed all scripts to run in the background by default (wild guess, I have no idea how EE works). BTW I find it most convenient to check stuff like this with Near Infinity, though Infinity Explorer would handle that too. Not so sure about ShadowKeeper, haven't used that for like 10 years. Still, whatever the reason for that offscreen behaviour, you could curb it by putting See(Player1) among the triggers of your dialogue initiation script snippet. Wouldn't hurt to refine his targeting as well so that he wouldn't try to chat with Viconia. Something like that:

IF
   See(Player1)
THEN
   RESPONSE #100
      StartDialogueNoSet(LastSeenBy())
END

Unfortunately your script afslay.bcs can't be checked unless you attach that too so this is just a general idea.

Regarding scripts: can you also attach your NPC's scripts, all of them? Your area script looks just fine.

 

Regarding walking offscreen - there's effect #293, it might be called "Enable Offscreen AI" or "Set Persistent AI" or something along these lines depending on what utility you use to check your .cre file. Do check if you accidentally had this effect attached to your .cre?

Also, it's not precisely clear from your description does your NPC starts walking even when he is outside of the visual range of the party?

Is it generally considered by the community ok to use opcode 272? The way I understand it repeating effect is an additional burden for the engine to calculate. Or is this additional load so minuscule its negligible? Megamod-wise, what if 20 opcodes 272 from 20 different mods are running at the same time, still negligible?

I can confirm that the download link is unfortunately down.

For me it asks to provide a google login to be able to download a file: surely it should not be anyone's effing business for something as trivial as file download, so if anyone have this mod stored and could upload to a more convenient place that would be really nice :)

I'm more concerned about synchronising 215 containing vef with other effects that are actual core of the ability, but I guess that's just another case of synchronisation. BTW toying with vef is a fun, mainly clean, process, I'm thankful you mention it to me back in that NI thread :)

 

What I'm more curious by now is the behaviour of sphlysmt.bam: how comes it sometimes work, and sometimes doesn't?

One bam and one vvc/bam. I've just started testing visuals so haven't get to tidy them up yet.

 

Hmm, while we're at it, do I get it right that 1 tick of effect's delay (timing mode 3) equals one second and thus equals 30 ticks of vef's delay?

Rylorn is here (or here for that matter) but far as I see it doesn't have version number in tp2 and marked as being 1.0 in readme, so I'm not 100% sure this is exactly what you're looking for.

I have an effect for which I chose sphlysmt.bam as its graphical representation. Upon testing I noticed weird thing: it plays only in about 60% of times when the effect is used. I'm sure the effect itself happens as the second bam launches each time. The way I understand either the bam is broken and shouldn't play at all or it's fine and will play each time, thus I'm baffled by this random faultiness of sphlysmt.bam and would welcome any ideas on how it's possible at all?

As for Sandra, BGT version was thoroughly removed by the author from SHS downloads, even archive versions (a feat I thought to be impossible). You could find few of 1.06 beta releases still available here or may be someone has 1.11 stored and could share. I have some odd 1.10/1.09 versions on my HDD, never cared for it enough to grab 1.11 when it got released.

Sam., can you please explain why would one want to compress bams at all especially considering hindrances you mentioned in the readme? Bams that are bmps made with photoshop and converted with Miloch's BAM Batcher, are they not compressed? Is it a bad thing? Why? :)

I have no idea about romance cheat. Installing "Adjust XP" second time might very well work, you just had to keep in mind that current, already adjusted, amount of XP will be treated by installer as 100%.

Using VEF files is an awesome way to play complex visual effects with opcode #215. ;)
Thank you for mentioning that Gwendolyne! I am building a (relatively) complex animation right now with the use of multiple nested effects, and I had no idea there's already a format just for that. However there's no single VEF in BG2, do you know where I could get one to use as an example and template?
