Forget about change-log. I am afraid it will not help us. I am sorry, but I cannot find any clue what those (10) items are that cause the issue.

All I can say from other similar experiences I made, do not buy or pick up such items if you find them in the game. They either get stuck in your inventory or - if you can get rid of them - some even follow you around when you travel between areas.

Hello, how did you exactly manage Imoen multiclassing? I found that multiclassed Imoen with "NPCs Enhanced for everyone" mod makes Imoen a half-elf, and I would like to maybe suggest a solution in that mod's topic.

That is not something that can be transferred in any way to the tweak mod. The NPC mod follows a different concept alltogether while mine is done with a dialogue in game setting globals that are later evaluated. No way to use one method in the other mod. This is a dead end.

 

Are you sure that Imoen half-elf is not what is intended by that *mod*? Maybe it is not a bug but a feature.

About the Thalantyr problem, here's a savegame. 

 

The TAB key gives no message. The "iconless" article can be bought, then an "iconless" item appears in your inventory. When you try to remove it, the game says you can't, so buying that "item" screws your inventory for good. 

 

To find out, you need to run change-log for the file highhedg.sto.

The updated mods are not backwards compatible with the old game (BGT), so continue using the known versions here.

DSotSC on my Github is backward compatible with BGT.

What you describe is not correct

And no, you are wrong. Right now, someone who is using EE or EET may go directly to the download menager and download the official, outdated version, use Polishi translation and it will break his game. Then he/she will check the forums and realize the wrong version was installed.

...and will find out that there is no other version and that the mod is not available for his/her game. This is where we are today unless we change it. Or keep waiting for it to somehow change...

 

You are looking at that from the perspective of a mod like Yoshimo friendship which is one or two scripts and a dialogue file. I have done this for a mod like Region of Terror where a *one mod serves all* comes out as a 550MB package, just to find that with any install you just need 260MB of that because thousands of area graphic files and animations are for the other game and never used in your install. This is a source of errors and not maintainable in the long run.

 

Anyway, you made your (and Kaeloree's?) point clear. So be it.

The approach to leave the *old game* versions as they are, i.e.in their last *official* version and status and start a new branch for the EE/EET games is not new.

I have done this successfully for the Chloe NPC mod already, even involving active participation from the original modder who helped with her abandoned ideas.

Similar things have been done for DSotSC or TDD. There is also development ongoing for other long abandoned mods.

It is simple fact, that nothing has been done on these mods for years and maybe never will if we introduce unneccesary restrictions.

It is much cleaner approach to say e.g. versions up to 2.2 of the mod are for old game, vesrions 3.0 and beyond are for new game. It is much clearer and safer than to maintain two versions within one mod package using GAME_IS etc and trying to preserve such a vehicle over the next decade. But if someone likes to do it, why not?

Ugh, but there are EE users who may donwload vanilla version and still encounter problems, because OFFICIAL download is outdated. I asked politely because I am in youch wil Kaeloree and I may ask him to opload the official download if the update is made properly so people could download the mod from SHS downloader and enjoy the game no matter what game they use. That's why I asked - to make it safe for all users.

What you describe is the existing situation.

I tried to improve it by pointing to an EE/EET capable version.

You prefer status quo until somebody is found to maintain the mods for old AND new games. Until that day, it seems we have to revert to the previous state then.

Lava, I think Roxanne doesn't play vanilla BG2 anymore (only EET as I understand) and is simply don't interested in providing backward compatibility taken into consideration that all Liam's mods are in perfectly stable condition for vanilla users.

Exactly.

The users of the old game have stable mod versions. There is no further development of any of these mods for the old games. There is no need for updated versions.

We branch off an EET compatible version and keep that alive and maybe even do furtehr development over time. A new generation of games and players can enjoy the old mods this way. Otherwise it will never happen, since nobody can do all the testing for the old games to ensure nothing is broken there. And users of the old games have no advantage at all from the new versions, so why hinder progress by useless requirements?

There are no such conditions or other strings attached to it.

If there has been a misunderstanding about scope and backwards compatibility, then all converted mods need to be removed and the former status needs to be re-established until somebody is found to do the updates under the revised conditions.

But why have 2 different packages and confuse players. I am in touch with Kaeloree, but it should be updated properly, to make one package work on different versions rather tahn make different versions for different games. Like it was done with most mods, my mod series etc. If it's made that way, I may be able to arrange proper upade in the download manager.

It was K4thos suggestion to make the EET version known to other users as well because it might solve some problems with UTF8 code for them as well. If you say this is the wrong place here, then it will be removed. We thought it would improve the situation compared to what it was before, but obviously this is not the case.

I'm working on the latest version of BGEE with SoD installed, and I'm using 4.91 of Rogue Rebalancing.

 

I've run into a strange bug after installing the mod via the executable installer, when I go to the first store in candlekeep (and a few others after that) there are items for sale whose name is replaced with lines of dialogue from throughout the game, and as I progressed I had Neera approach me with dialogue which didn't belong to her, it seemed that the dialogue chain was from another quest later in the game, something about a Duke.

I tried uninstalling the game and deleting all the files in the Steam folder for BGEE as well as all the files in the My Documents part, and then I reinstalled the game, freshly downloaded RR and installed that too only to encounter the same problem.

 

Any ideas?

The game is steam or gog version and you did not install modmerge?

I'm attaching a new version of the compatibility code.  I apologize that the recent one I sent you was not as final as I thought. I have tested this with the latest release of FnP (v0.74) and it passed with flying colors, on a multiclass kit as well (a cleric/mage).  So I have confidence in this one.

Is there any information available about what has changed?

Two possibilities, depending on your decision:

1) Extract the attached files and put them into the SandrahNPC folder - the tp2 to overwrite the existing one, the ones in the lib folder to be put into SandrahNPC/lib (overwrite if asked). See if that removes the error.

2) Take the attached Setup-SandrahNPC.tp2_noF+P.txt and rename it to SandrahNPC.tp2 and put it into SandrahNPC overwriting the existing one.

If either of the two are successful, I would be glad to hear the result, since I have currently no install to test the new F+P package.

Update: 

 

I tried with the updated version of FnP and the problem is still there and the component Sandrah Kit cannot be installed.

 

I decided to use the first option and override the lib and tp2 file and it installed successfully.

This should not affect you, however.

1) I didn't verify any problem, since I'm not able to test it. If the installation of both components doesn't produce any unexpected behaviour (crashes, duplication of items placed in two different location), then I agree that it's fine as it is. I just asked because, according to the description, they *appear* to be incompatible since they operate on the same items.

Technically there should be no problem. Depending on installation order and game progression, either one or the other mod's code will trigger first and move the items. The second mod will move just an empty container, i.e. will have no further effect.

2) I made a test: with Charname only, the dialogue goes on as expected. With Imoen, it stops as described. Maybe its install order has to be changed? Why is it installed after EET if it is a BGEE mod?

It is installed after EET as both the author/maintainer as well as EET compatibility list *claim* that the mod has native EET support. This may not be the case. I have reported the issue to the mod's maintainer but I better not quote the reply here. It may or may not be taken care of.

3) I posted about the problem here since a previous installation with that component didn't cause the described issue, and maybe the source of the problem lies in the interaction with another mod. Not strictly BWS related, but I thought here I would find the appropriate audience to talk about the problem ;) Anyway, later I'm gonna check if any text appears using the TAB key.

There is no problem with posting reports here, It may get a larger attention, especially if the root of the problem cannot be identified right away.

Waiting for more information.

FnP is perfectly stable at the moment. The most important work (imho) - getting the new version to where it installs without problems - has been done. Now we are working out a few bugs: improving some spells and HLAs and dealing with some item usability issues.

Two possible problems between FnP and Sandrah:

1) The compatibility code that I gave to Roxanne has some stuff that references the FnP mod folder. So it assumes a player hasn't deleted or moved the FnP mod folder after installing FnP but before installing Sandrah.

2) That compatibility also uses Camdawg's Remove_Lines function, which I thought was a core part of Weidu, but it actually isn't. The solution for now could be to add this code somewhere before the compatibility function runs:

I am working right now on a newer, better version of the compatibility code, which should fix both of those issues.

Even if

ERROR: [CVMYSTRA.2da] -> [override] Patching Failed (COPY) (Unix.Unix_error(20, "stat", "faiths_and_powers/spheres/clab/Life_focus.txt"))

seems to indicate that a file in F+P was not found.

 

2) My tp2 contains prior to the compatibility code this

INCLUDE ~SandrahNPC/lib/remove_lines.tpa~

 

In my lib folder is the respective tpa file

 

Additional remark - this is the first report about a failure with the compatibility code since it was included some months ago? I have seen a large number of Weidu,logs from users which contained both mods, so it worked, at least until the recent update.

 

EDIT

After further research it seems we are chasing ghosts here. The two mods in question cannot have compatibility issues as they never should be in the same game:

- Sandrah is EET only mod

- Faith and Powers is no EET mod http://gibberlings3....showtopic=27741

- The error is in BWS which allows both mods to exist in the same game instead of making F+P a BG2EE mod, There is a missing filter.

Greetings, reporting some issues:

 

1) I found an apparent dupilication in mod components, that might cause issues: "Move Items into SoA" -> "Some of your old items found in Irenicus Dungeon (ONLY FOR EET)" and "EET (Enhanced Edition Trilogy) Tweaks" - > "Import party items to SoA".

Shouldn't one be preferred to another?

The mods are redundant but work a bit differently. Currently, BWS accepts the possible selection of both since they do not produce any conflict or issue. Both mods move BG1 items to a different location in Irenicus Dungeon. Depending on whether you install one or the other or both, the impact will just be where exactly you find the items. Unless you actually encountered a problem, there is no need to complicate installation by raising a conflict in BWS.

2) Ascalon's Questpack was recently added in BWS. I remember it working fine in BGT but found a problem: In Beregost there are three NPCs named Udolf Raukner, Agnus the White and  Teliel Meadowsinger. The initial dialogue with them ends abruptly after their story about how they shared their loot and 80 gold pieces were left. There is no way to initiate dialogue afterwards, and the game starts to stutter terribly (you have to save, quit, and load to stop it).

Do you have one of these in your party (Imoen, Jaheira or Montaron) when you talk to the adventurers?. The issue may lie in Jaheira or Imoen who have interjections from their banter files. However the mod installs after EET in BG2EE and might use the BG2 file instead of the BG1 banter file for them, which are different.

3) There is a problem with Thalantyr, that I found only in the last two installs, I'm not sure it is related to Thalantyr Item Upgrade, I attached a screenshot.

Not sure what BWS can do here? Is there a text or something to tell you what those items may be?

 

Summary

1) should not be an issue unless proven otherwise.

2) should be reported to the author

3) not sufficient information to locate the source of the problem - looks like a missing bam-file.

I did encounter the installation problem on 8 Aug and the error message shown up in the log as follow (during the installation of Sandrah Kit):-

And the version at that moment is 0.72b and I noticed that the version has been updated in these days but I checked the updated log and wasn't sure it has been fixed or not.

 

I did contact the modder of FnP and he said he gave the compatibility code to you for implementation.

Hi, Is the current version of Faiths and Powers not compatible with Sandrah? I got an installation error when installing both of them and the error mentioned about something like "kit".

There is a lot of experimentation going on with F+P at this moment. You need to be more specific about which version of F+P you are trying and which error you get from Sandrah.

Maybe it would be best to remove the compatibility attempt from Sandrah as a whole, since F+P seems not to be stable enough to consider it.

It may also help to investigate with F+P guys directly, they know better what they do at this time.

 

And...which mod gave the error in the first place?

 

Current version of F+P? 0,71 or 0,74e or catch of the day?

You get the latest Weidu version here http://weidu.org/~thebigg/weidu.exe.

 

All you do with that file is to rename it to fit to your mod. It is used to install the game. What your mod actually does, will be inside the mod's tp2 file (respectively the files the tp2 installs).
