Except that SoA seems to be missing the music folder. It'll need to be copied from an older version unless Dorotea reuploads.

Could you check the global DekkieLetter? If it's 4, then Dekaras has already appeared, but for some reason hasn't managed to talk to you. Then you could make him appear by setting it to 3. If it isn't 4, could you please tell me what it is?

You should be able to do this with Shadow Keeper, but if necessary, I can provide you the CLUA console commands.

Edit: Furthermore, check that the main character isn't invisible. This seems to be the only way I manage to get Dekaras not to appear.

Bleh, I tried it twice and it's still not working... no matter if I type in the commands or not, he still starts out evil (and yes, I did put the codes in before I summonded him). Even when I import the game, codes or no, it still doesn't work...I'm just really annoyed, because this is a great mod and I can't figure out this dumb bug!

The aforementioned commands should be enough to get the romance going in ToB. First lovetalk dialogue takes place after the dialogue with Melissan (when you arrive to Saradush). If you want him to be of non-evil alignment you'll either have to finish SoA with Edwin with neutral alignment in party or use something like Shadow Keeper or Near Infinity to change his alignment.

In Edwin ToB I met with the gnome after Yaga-Shura's demise. After the...*cough* event *cough*...the gnome (Jadda) just stood around doing nothing. When talked to, he gives that Jadda- has nothing to say to you. thing. It might be better to give him an extra line, or just make him walk off ( EscapeAreaMove()  or something like that) after the talk with Eddie. :)

Did the commentary after the cutscene work properly? End of the dialogue being skipped is the only reason I can think of that would keep him from leaving.

If he wasn't kidnapped, the kiss dialogue being skipped almost certainly messed something up.

If you know how to activate CLUAConsole, you can check the global by typing CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("EdwinRomanceActive","GLOBAL")

CLUAConsole can usually (depending on version of the game) be activated by adding "Debug mode=1" (without the quotation marks) to the end of [program options] in baldur.ini and then pressing Ctrl-Spacebar in the game. Then just typing the aforementioned line to the text box should do the trick.

If it gives the value as something other than 2 (probably 1), typing CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("EdwinRomanceActive","GLOBAL",2) should keep the dialogue from repeating itself. Emphasis on should.

By the way, I'd like to find out why the kiss dialogue never took place. Did Edwin say anything at all immediately after being turned back to his original from?

After I returned to the surface and Edwin was restored, he started acting flaky... some of the talks seemed to progress as normal, but it must have skipped some since he was suddenly acting like I had kissed him one time. There were also a few banters that were completely blank and you couldn't see what the characters were saying, like one Korgan/Imoen/Edwin chat. He also still says the scrambled eggs thing when you talk to him on your own.

Anyway, the final sputter the romance has come to is when you accept the lock of hair as a present and confirm his love. It's stuck on that at the moment... he keeps repeating himself periodically after I say yes.

Could you check the value of global EdwinRomanceActive? It should be set to 2 in the kiss dialogue, that was apparently missed for some reason, and if it isn't, setting it to the correct value might fix at least some of the problems. I can't even guess what might be causing the blank dialogues, though.

Could you check the line again? I can't find a line like that from ER or even by searching all the strings in the dialog.tlk.

Yep, that's the one. My char hasn't any invisibility items but she's mage/thief and I'm using AI so she's in shadows most of the time. Could that be the problem?

Well, <CHARNAME> has to be visible for Edwin to initiate dialogue. Have you tried temporarily deactivating the script?

Actually I've had only first three (the last one was where I called him sweet and he didn't like it at all :P ), but now it's been silent for a long time.


Was this the lovetalk that begins with "It must be an extraordinarily pleasurable, not to mention humbling experience to have a mage of my caliber join this group"? In that case the next one should trigger by resting in a non-dungeon area. Judging from the values of globals you've provided, everything should be in order. Have you tried resting after setting EdwinRomance to 1? Does <CHARNAME> have an item equipped that causes invisibility?

Have you installed any mods that might modify Edwin? If it's not that, is there a chance that the installation has gotten messed up and you already have ER installed and are trying to install it on top of an earlier install?

Yes, the file provided at the beginning of the thread about 1.03 beta accidentally contained some old files. Try downloading and installing the ones further down the thread.

This might be a bit silly question, but have you installed the ToB portion?

The first lovetalk should take place immediately, or atleast very soon, after the first talk with Melissan. Try checking the values of EdwinRomanceActive and EdwinMatch, as well as setting EdwinRomance to 1.

EdwinRomanceActive is checked by typing CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("EdwinRomanceActive", "GLOBAL")

EdwinMatch by
CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("EdwinMatch","GLOBAL")

and EdwinRomance can be set to 1 by typing CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("EdwinRomance","GLOBAL",1)

The first two should have values of 2 and 1 respectively.

Also, make sure that your character isn't invisible.

If setting EdwinRomance to 1 doesn't help and the two aforementioned globals have correct values, but it still doesn't work, could you send me the save to nebukad@hotmail.com?

D keeps coming back when i stay in the bridge area, and Eddie keeps leaving me, leaving my char quite heart-broken.


What exactly does Edwin say when he leaves? What about Dekaras when he returns?

I got to the point in the romance where Dekaras has you go after the lich. Now I beat the lich but right after Dekaras and Edwin started attacking me and Edwin said something about me betraying him! I have no idea what I did, I was freaking about since I couldn't figure out how to get out of the room. Can someone tell me what happened?  :unsure:

I just found a dialog loop late in the TOB part of the mod. When Edwin asks to marry the PC, Imoen chimes in about it being so cute, it loops around back to Edwin, and so on. Doesn't even get to the PC's chance to reply. Has this particular bug been reported yet?

Thank you for reporting this. Easiest way to get past the problem would be to temporarily drop Imoen out of party. Alternatively taking Sarevok to the party if you're of good or neutral alignment should help.

Hmm...if you have tried setting EdwinRomance to 1 with no luck, and you've visited the areas where Degardan spawns with no luck, then I think CLUA is probably your best bet, yes. I'm not sure what could be causing the problem, I'm afraid.

This is due to a bug in the old version. It should be fixed in the newest one, but if the lovetalk before Degardan's appearance took place before updating, he still might not appear. Typing CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("EdwinRomanceDegardan", "GLOBAL", 1) should help.

I don't think other mods should influence this. I think, however, that I know what might cause this. You could try downloading this: Attached File  erhappyf.baf   364bytes   33 downloads

Then copy it to the Edwin\bcs directory to replace the old file and then reinstall the mod. This should allow you to continue.

It seems that the cutscene hasn't ended properly. Apparently this hasn't happened to anyone else, as far sa I know, so could you retry to play through the encounter? If this happens again, I could try to provide you a new version of the cutscene which should be less prone to cause this kind of problems.

Well, I won't provide any bigger spoilers, but the romance status will only change to 2 after Edwin has changed back to his original gender.

What can I do to play TOB? I keep on trying to install it but I've been having problems.  first it told me there was a problem with .Dialog.tlk (Something like that) so I reinstalled the mod, now the TOB mod keeps on telling me it requires the SOA portion. Help please :blink:  :(

I indeed found a ring on one of the bodies, but I still have one teleportation ring. For lack of more obvious solutions I used the ring again and I was teleported outside. It was quite strange when Dekaras said he *gave* me a couple of new rings, while I still have the same one ring with me. :mellow:

Yes - this is one part of the mod that was rewritten a few times, due to some problems we had. I guess that's why it's a little unclear.

Dekaras removes the old non-working ring and gives a new one, which is rather similar to it, so it's easy to undertand why this might cause some confusion.
